I already have all three MegaMagic strings for Omnisphere, but at first listen, this new library pushes the envelope (excuse the pun) into new territory A truly special result -- and those zBonus/zBPM/zMotif/"z patches" of all stripes? The unmistakable "Skippy Spin"
Although these strings don't sound as realistic as East West Orchestra, they still sound mega cool. They remind me of the presets from high-end workstations from Korg and Roland. Super playable. Fast results. Super job Skippy! Instant buy
@@PlugInGuruVideo I always wondered and admired how you got this great sound into the small sample ROM of a Korg Triton (my First WS). When Unify came out, I thought: Well. The world is full of outstanding sample players. Who needs that? But now Unify is my starter in every project. And even Omnisphere has to take a back seat sometimes. Unify is like a good old workstation in software. Two wishes: Can you make the computer keyboard MIDI keyboard always playable? When you switch to the browser, for example, you have to click on the keyboard again with the mouse. Although I haven't changed the preset at all, the pop-up: the preset has been changed comes up quite often. Especially when you change the presets with the mouse. Thanx for you work.
@@krusestephan4009 - I'm glad to hear Unify is working so well for you - there is a mad science to short looping samples like we had to do back in the day when sample memory was a fraction of what is available today. People today have no clue which is why sample libraries will go into multiple GBs of samples and be less musical than what we pulled out of using only 1.5MB! As to your two request - the first one is difficult because when you change applications, Apple and Windows assign whatever "application" you're in to taking over what the mouse etc. can do - not sure we can do anything about that. Question 2 is a preference you can turn off on the Settings page. Hit the Settings (gear) icon, look for the line that starts with "On Patch Load" and turn off the "Are you sure?" option. Some people like this safety net, others hate it because many plug-ins turn a Unify patch state to "Dirty" just by being loaded, others don't do anything until you edit a parameter. Unify is watching for this dirty patch state before asking that question - so for example, if you load ANY patch with ComboBox in it, then it is immediately an edited patch so it asks "Are you Sure?" when you go to change to another patch. We actually have turned that option off by default as of Unify 1.9.1 for new installs of Unify. :D Happy Holidays!

Some of the sample maps have more samples than the Unify versions - but not by much. Some of the Violin maps have 13 samples instead of 8 for example. When I did these sessions, I didn't do samples on every note, only the notes needed to make the Omnisphere 2 library. There are many differences to the Omnisphere versions - the samples sound less "Hyped" because I don't have access to the compressor/limiters that Omnisphere 2 comes with - it is amazing how much that changes the character of the samples. Also, in Unify all of the samples live in a single GuruSampler. SO you can easily change the attack or release and it affects all of the samples at once. In Omnisphere 2 you have to edit 8 patches, one at a time in a Multi to do the same simple change to the Violin EG attack. I also made every patch from scratch in Unify so it's very different in character and to me far more flexible since I can easily make Patches with 5 different sets of samples from the 3 libraries - something IMPOSSIBLE to accomplish in Omnisphere 2 with it's 8-samples in a Multi limit. Unify can access unlimited # of samples at once vs Omnisphere 2's limit of 8.
The more I try to use unify the more roadblocks I encounter, then I stop using it. The samples are great, but there are so many aspects of the program that are confusing. It's a little overwhelming for a synth/midi novice.

I'm not sure where I referenced the BBC library but the jest is we made a library for the BBC Discover plug-in and Unify lets you layer multiple Unify Patches, yes? So I am simply layering 2 different patches, one from MegaMagic TRIO with one from DiscoverStaton. Here is one of my videos that farther explores the topic of layering patches: ua-cam.com/video/yeCLrzYd7ZE/v-deo.html. Remember to pause the video, back it up again if needed. That's the magic of video - you can move around the recording if needed. I don't pull any tricks where sounds show up out of no where! So just go slow and you'll pick up the tips you're missing.

I thought you were either using a free unify discover library or simply the 3rd party Discover plugin which I have. But now I see you have discover station for sale. That's why it seemed to be magic, because you were accessing something I thought i had but didn't. Thank you for your patience. I still can't get the Ample Bass to work as you do in your video. It's loaded as an extra layer and I can get it to appear and watch the strings vibrate but no sound. Thamk you.

These can not work via MDE. We don't have that technology in Unfiy's GuruSampler (yet).

Can Unify set these patches up in a 16 channel multitimbral configuration per instance, like Kontakt or Falcon?
Output wise? Not in this version of Unify.

I'm not sure where I referenced the BBC library but the jest is we made a library for the BBC Discover plug-in and Unify lets you layer multiple Unify Patches, yes? So I am simply layering 2 different patches, one from MegaMagic TRIO with one from DiscoverStaton.
