Matthiessen state park

Matthiessen State Park is an Illinois state park located a few miles south of the more famous Starved Rock State Park. Matthiessen State Park a popular choice for an outing. The main entrances to both parks are located on Illinois State Route 178.
The day that I was here. The temperature was in the 70's with overcast skies, and low humidity. The trails were muddy in many different spots. But was adventurous with beautiful scenery, waterfalls and river canyons. This Illinois State Park doesn't charge anything to get in or to park. Make sure to pack some bottles of water to bring with you on the trails.
It's a great walk and some rough trails. My family and I loved it. Went for a walk up stream and enjoyed the little water falls and flat areas to just enjoy the peace and quite.
