  • Taking a Taxi back to the airport from Sandton with another rider. Bet a lot of Americans would be confused by the EASY diagrams on the signs, let alone driving on the opposite side of the road.

This is one of the best taxi drivers I have dealt with. He had taken me to some of the local malls to purchase a power cord for my PC, as well as driving me into different parts of J'burg. I did not mind paying him $40.00 American dollars and the taxi charge of R350. The people here in SA are very curtious and friendly by far!

Read your comment-I live here stateside and though I have never been to SA before, I would like to visit someday. We hear about all of the waves of crime in cities like Jozi, and though it may be true, Johannesburg is probably like many cities here stateside where you just learn where to go and the areas to avoid. The landscape in this video is just beautiful

SA road signage is indeed very clear and well designed.

You are actually on the N3 Highway! You turn off this highway to get onto the R21 which takes you to the airport.

wohoo, looks like Interstate 95 through Philadelphia(with the outrageously clogged traffic)

Before making comments, understand this: I paid him to talk along the way: 125.00USD tip along with the R400 for the cab fare just to give the tour to the airport. Trust me, he was VERY HAPPY! He was not at all upset or saddened by us not talking. I use this same cab company every time I goto SA on business. Unlike most other riders, I tip my drivers well because most riders never do.

Man, the poor taxi driver is desperately trying to strike up conversation with his international tourist clients, proudly showing off the developments along the way to Jan Smuts, but all he gets back is monosyllables. Aikona wena!

Why would anyone be confused by such signs?

@radioguy95 Before trying to spin me a yarn ('These are the new offices'...'Ah, interesting'... with no attempt to actually film them on your 'tour' heheheh), how about you understanding this: you got taken well and truly for a ride. He should have turned off onto the R25, cos Jo'burg International is not actually in Joburg, it's in Kempton Park. You could have saved yourself at least half an hour and a couple of hundred bucks too :-)

This doesn't look like the HiAce taxis that cause all the grief, this looks like the internationally accepted form of taxi, i.e. a car. Maybe if SA taxis operated like taxis in the rest of the world, 1 fare to 1 destination, rather than all vying for passengers wanting differing journeys & diving off to the side of the road to pick up anyone and everyone, normality would prevail. But it's been like that since I learnt to drive in SA way back in the early 80s - you just need eyes in your arse!

If we cut down on a number of TAXIS operating, our road accidents will surely decrease.

Whats the big thing about filming a freeway? Yes we have cars and computers, no there are no lions walking around and the person who said they would get killed well it could happen anywhere. Of course you have to be careful, there is a lot of poverty (and wealth). Cape Town and Durban are the places to go, avoid Johannesburg that's where there is major crime. Oh the poor taxi driver is trying to make conversation - the guy with the camera says hardly a thing - no music either - boring journey.

First of all moron, learn how to spell, second, if your going to make an idiot out of yourself, at least use a spell check.
