Nice one but brother if we get expected values below 5 three time i.e Fe having numbers 23,23,3,4,2,20 like than degree of freedom will be (2-1)*(4-1) - 3 like that .
It will be accepted. Its just a rule that in chi square test the expected frequencies must be at least 5. It have no relation with the degree of freedom.

When any expected frequency is less than 5 then to make it more than 5 we pooled expected frequency. That why we lost 1 degree of freedom more. So we have original df as ( r-1) (c-1) = 3 . Now we pooled expected frequency then we have 3-1 = 2 df 👆👆
