Love you guys, I studied ornithology and that was nothing compared with how much you guys helped me with my birds love your program and my birds life your cook book!
I got to say this shows you really really care for the birds and are willing to put aside your own doubts in pursuit of teaching.

Where did you study ornithology, please? My avian knowledge is what I’ve been learning and watching birds from a really early age, but I’d love to study a course on it, particularly if it’s certificated (actually preferable). The CLOSEST I’ve been able to actually study here in the UK are: Animal Behaviour and zoology, both cover birds very little cos those subjects are too broad a spectrum. They were enjoyable, BUT, though I ADORE ALL fauna, birds, particularly all parrots, are my serious passion. I have some books on parrot anatomy and behaviour. Some are too easy and some are really complicated science wise. Would love to do an advanced (if possible) ornithology course, something where I can email or FaceTime the tutor questions would be ideal! Sorry for the ramble 🥱

@@asseyez-vous6492 usually if you want a specific degree or to take specific classes you have to first get your doctorate in zoology and then your PhD in ornithology. I’m a chiropterologist, a bat scientist, I had to get my PhD in chiropterolgoy first before I could house and care for vampire bats which is the species I specialize in.

I love this video!! Knowing you both, it was such an enjoyable video for me!! I think it's so amazing and humble that Carolin reached to you and fantastic that you received her openly! I think this video gave a lot of great insight in to safe free flight and and also why you don't teach with online videos. Very responsible, I agree. Marlene I bet if you are her friend, for real, she must worth something but she should be FULLY AWARE people see her videos and get the *wrong idea about her, or more so seeing the NOT REAL CAROLINE* that one who does CLICKBAIT on expenses of her viewers, bad, high voltage scarry sh#% all the time literaly, and lots of (fake???!) drama, or saying stuff like "ohhhh no I just lost this and that much money" when she lost her baby bird, instead thinking about "holy c@#!^ I just lost my baby boy o m g no"... all those negative stuff she does all the time cloud pepole ability to feel her, or see her "real personality", as you say you do, and as we supposedly saw here via the help of J from Birdtricks who was upfront and did not allow any of it on this time
× (and i'm super super glad to know she has a better more responseble caring posetive less dramatic and "clif hanger" style personality, since before it happened I got to levels of anxiety and anger by watching her films, everytime, thinking that is just who and how she is. Very happy to see your comment and this video, which in she was not the way she is always on her channel)
All I can say I TRULLY HOPE TO SEE HER MORE THIS WAY, less the old ways... she can learn a thing or two from your vibes, and from Birdtricks themselves.

Carissa’s Nest Carolin’s ego is huge, every one of her videos starts with a clickbait thumbnail, and we basically see “Hopey” free flying in every video and Love and Glory barely make appearances in the videos. Her birds are beautiful but poor Hope seems to nearly get “lost” or “attacked” in every one of her videos. I feel like she is really out there and hope that this video helps her with her ego with selling merch than actually caring for her bird’s health and safety! NOT!!!
Jamie and Dave are very responsible with their birds and have taught their birds how to free fly the correct way. Carolin has trained Hope to fly but the poor bird flies away and hangs out in trees a and gets lost half the time. Part of the problem with living in a big city, especially in California, is that there are a lot of weirdos. So you might actually get your pet stolen or tampered with, unfortunately. And there’s also not a huge amount of open space. Just lots of public parks. And they’re filled with homeless people and also ravens and hawks. If you watch some of the free flight videos of bird trainers in San Francisco (where I live) they’re always losing their birds and having to chase them for miles and miles. It’s why I am reluctant to get a parrot while living here and want to move away to a different state before getting a parrot.

Now, I know it wasn't really funny but....Bailey would do a fly over and fly away laughing. That little stinker KNEW what he was doing! When left for the day she was still in the same spot and you could heard Bailey laughing and singing in the Tree of Life.
When I came back the next day SHE WAS STILL THERE!! Rumpled, tired and still calling for him. I actually got the shot when he finally quit torturing her and came back. I did a rapid fire burst and made a montage for her later on.
She actually cried when he finally landed safely back into arms. In a frenzy of hugging and kissing she told him what a naughty bird he was and that he was the worst bird ever lol.
I don't recall her name but I was in complete awe of her dedication and love for this bird. It must be so hard to be a trainer for a large park like Animal Kingdom. How can help but fall in love with all of the birds? Heck I was just a photographer and I fell in love with them. (Actually I kinda got in trouble over a cockatoo and getting too friendly with her lol)
Bird people are like horse people. The animals become your whole world from your waking thought to your final thought at the end of the day. God Bless you all for your love of these wonderful, wacky, intelligent, often frustrating animals.

I am happy you helped her. For all the reasons you gave. She really wanted help otherwise she wouldn't have gone to the last minute effort that she did. I IMMEDIATELY reached out trying to connect both of you when I saw the very real issues she was having. She needed real quality assistance with this bird or the bird was NOT going to have a very good future and that's why this community needs to be close. The intelligent creatures DESERVE our help. We chose to make them pets so we should accept the sometimes hard situations that coincide with owning a wild animal and forcing them to be domestic when it not in their nature. They are intelligent and self aware. They deserve to be treated as such.

You have a beautiful soul my sister. I strongly feel people should understand why some people look for money, fame, attention, etc. They seek these things bc there is something inside of them that tells them they alone are not enough, they alone are not worthy. When others see this behavior and tear someone down, they become part of the problem and reenforce these beliefs of not being "good enough" in the person therefore contributing to the continuation of the undesired behaviors. The best way to help those who are hurting is with love, never criticism or bad mouthing. But you were a perfect example of kindness and compassion with personal boundaries and strength. I think you helped more than the birds this time. Thank you. Blessings 🖤

shirt, I realized that we need to have a line of t-shirts made specially for people who live with parrots - with spots And splats on the back behind each shoulder, on the shoulder, and a couple on the chest! Then if it happens no one will know the difference until you get to a place where you can change. And if it doesn't happen (doesn't? Are you kidding?!), it just looks like a bird owner's joke! 😉🤭😆🤭

@@yes6282 are you refering to me? If so, you just lost your bet dear. I do not have a hen is this cock fight so to say, but I do raise birds along with kids and dogs.
I happen to have a flock of only disabled birds of many breeds, including parrots (which with the hardest one yet, the only one that I dabbled the thought of her being too disabled to be able to fly but with the help of dear Jamie of Birdtricks, found out she is capable of flight and now is flying!!!but thats just a side note) they are all flight trained, recalled trained, and are free and are integrated in the local nature, doing "at liberty free flight" so they go in and out of my house as pleased in most of the day light time ,and at evening or activities we do, they are included like any "pet" birds are, they sleep and eat inside and get quality time, each and together day after day. Some do tricks but level isnt great, as I only take in disabled birds that are not baught but more or so forgotten discarded abandoned and rescued or relinqished to my care, they have got no one to believe in them and was put of in the "to sleep and put down" list. So..... some just cant. And its ok,now they are forever babies in my flock and they are doing well for years to come, almost all (aside that baby africqn that in in training now) are well trained, harness and flying diapers too. Because they join me and my child at everything we do outside of the safe zone or most safe zone at my yard parameters... they are not caged at all, they have spots they like in my home, they each chose and keeps. So no, im not like caroline, and im not trying to be, I even liked her contant at some point, im not in a chalange with anyone either, she does her thing, birdstricks does thiers and I do me, but I do *have birds and I do freefly almost all of them* . I care for hers and about what she does since birds are pure awesome, even the most hard ones just need the proper care to be flowering and I know she loves them or shed not get them, and so many.

I think it was a good thing to help Caroline. I had been concerned for her and her birds with the trouble she has had and the decisions she's made with them so far, so I had hoped someone would be able to help her out! Glory has some issues that are a challenge for Caroline to deal with, so I know Jamie and David can help both her and Glory, and that is all that matters. Helping Caroline matters, too!
I know there are people who do not like Caroline and how she handles the birds, but this is not about her, it is about her BIRDS. Those who tried to tell Jamie and David not to help her were doing a terrible disservice to those birds. Never assume that a bird owner is beyond help or hope due to your own personal distaste for their actions on their channel, people. You only hurt the birds that person owns.

The only thing Caroline loves about her birds is the amount of attention they get her. Thats all. If everyone would ignore her the birds would be out of there faster than last years xmasscards.

The more viewers and subscribers Caroline gets, comes into UA-cam money, she probably uses the money to help her birds, she's a nice person, I don't really know what to think

@@popsicle1033 Easy: she only got the birds to get internet-fame. Once f.e. ferrets are the next hype she will get a few of those, she is that type of person. If you want to watch someone who is NOT in it for the money try WingsNpaws (I hope I got the name right) - he loves his bird (Smokey) and just wants to share what he knows without all the draamaaa and moneygrabbing.

Hi Jamieleigh! One of your videos popped up in my suggested videos, and I clicked in part because I’m a parrot lover and in part because I totally recognized you from somewhere. Just realized that I rooted for you in LiveJournal’s Next Top Model many many years back LOL! :) Anyway, I have been binge watching your videos and have been inspired to try new things with my birds (starting with target training!). Thanks so much for putting this all out there and for being so real about the process.

I will always ALWAYS welcome advice. Not just now, as a new-ish bird owner, but for my next bird and for free flying my flock (flock of ONE right now) and when I finally buy a house and can have outdoor aviaries and.. well, anything. Even things I think I know, I'm sure there's better ways to do things that just won't occur to me. Whenever I think Cyrano and I are ready, I will definitely be reaching out for the first steps of learning to free fly him. He's starting to do small recalls from his cage to my hand when he sees the treat in the catching hand. At first he would fly off if I moved at all, now I can turn my wrist so he lands on my finger. Still not stepping up, though, but that's for the clicker and not a lure. We're making serious progress weekly! And it's all because of you guys and your understanding of birds and that it's the human that needs the training, really, lol. Can't wait to eventually get to free flying!
