I know this is incredibly late but: Pump up the gain Pick the string with middle or ring fingwr and tap with forefinger (or midde fingwr if u pick with ring) When pulling off, 'ping' it instead of just lifting your finger

If you want difficult tapping, look at any Ichicka Nito song, if you like fast playing, search 'Daydream Skytrain Solo'. Edit: so bro, I need to apologise, I mistook 'eruption' for another song named 'eruption', that had a really easy tapping riff. Van Halen's is certainly not easy.
