With conventional batteries, the negative connection on the same battery as the positive shouldn’t matter. With LiFePO4s it might. The internal resistance of those is very low, so they’re sensitive to things like unequal cable lengths. Your inverter overload should give you a clue as to why it’s not happy. If it’s under voltage at the input, you have a resistive connection between the inverter and the batteries. That may be a poor contact, or too thin a cable, or too long a cable, or both. If it’s overload, your inverter simply isn’t capable of powering what you’re trying to power. Check the labels for power requirements. Hair straighteners are often 2kw on their own. That’s about 170amps at 12v, so short fat cables are the order of the day. Check the data sheet for the inverter, for the continuous rated output. A 3Kw inverter may be only able to do 1.8kw continuous, for example.

I had the same issue with my inverter. I found my fuse wasn't operating correctly and was cutting out before it should (I.e it was a lower setting than it should have been). I changed it to a different design fuse, it now operates perfectly without cutting out.
Nice video, your children are so cute. Lovely family. Love France one of our favourite countries. Brought back lovely memories with my mum when we took her to Mont st Michel . been a few times. Shes passed way now. Dont know if its there now but there was a parking place at Mont st Michel...There are so many beautiful place to visit in France
Great episode guys. The Adventures begin. I'm sure the weather will get better but who cares your free as a bird to go where you want and giving your children the best experiences in there young lives :-)
Hi Folks...... Renogy PAH!, got the 3000w version of the inverter like yours.... what a finneky piece of kit it is! So i've been having issues like you.... what I have found when speaking to Renogy and some research, the unit doesn't like being overloaded or underloaded and it goes into safe mode and struggles recovering from it!! I use my inverter in my house currently with solar. BUT if you have a problem you have to do a reset, by disconnecting it completely from the batteries and leaving it disconnected for a minimum of 30 mins, whilst disconnected from ALL batteries and shore power and everything else,! Turn it on once disconnected from everything because there can be some residual power in the circuit, the LED light will use it up. I left mine disconnected for two days! Then reconnect the negative first and the positibve next with the unit switched off- you need a 250amp fuse minimmum on the positve side, the cables need to me a minimum of 35mm2 cable! Turn on the unit when connected back to the batteries, yes you're right you need to send the current through both batteries, if you can don't have the solar in power connected to the same terminals as the inverter, & nothing connected to it like 240v or shore power and leave it like this for as long as you can with no 240 load!! I know this is a pain but it has worked for me! If you can use shore power whilst doing this it will help. Mine has been playing up for 2 months now, but doing this and making sure the batteries are charged does help, they don't seem to like large loads.... but have been running a 55" tv and other lesser power hungry units like curling tongs! Any way keep up the good work and maybe consider getting some off road tyres for the back of the truck! Keep on trucking!
Lucky dad was holding on to teddy in that wind before you got on the bus.. Don't know why but now needing a French 🥖 a free one like teddy's would be nice.. Hoping you have good travels and find some free wild camps sites

The wc water is for rinsing the chemical loo and rinse the waste tanks. It might not be as clean as the other tap. Lots of times you get the wc water for free, but the other tap needs special coins you need the buy from hotel de ville...😊
Ah yeah we had a chemical toilet in our motorhome and van. Just thought it was a bit odd having the wc tap on top of the fresh water tap, not the other way round. Doesn't seem as hygiene
Check all of the connections for tightness, the busbars should be fine as long as they are rated correctly. Give me a call, Stowmarket vehicle installs and I should be able to talk you through some checks.

Re your inverter. I had a similar problem with a 1000W inverter it whistled even when it was pushing out 600W. I think it was a battery problem. I also found the inverter did not like laptops presumably something to do with the laptop power pack. Great to see the French version of St Michael's Mount (near Penzance) ... of course the British one only has a causeway for some points in the tide - you have to get a boat the rest of the time ... rubbish infrastructure! Is Piper going to start teaching Ric more French words - she's probably great at pronouncing words correctly too - my son has this talent too - young ears and early exposure really helps - I struggle to hear the difference and am hopeless at copying even regional English accents, let alone French pronunciation!

Mmm, one of my fondest childhood memories was going on family camping holidays in Britannia, Bordeaux and Normandy, mainly in Brittany though. We stayed in this farmers field. Unsure if you've visited these places before in France, but you're not too far from Carentan / Sainte-Marie-du-Mont / Utah Beach where some of the biggest fighting happened in Normandy. There's a few memorials I've always wanted to visit, i.e. Easy Company / Richard Winters who was portrayed in the Spielberg series Band of Brothers. Also some D-Day musseums too. Just thought with you having 2 batteries linked like truck batteries would that not be 24volt ? Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s what my scania runs off
Fantastic aire, and amazing place to visit. We stayed there in may this year, definitely worth the walk and price to go right to the top. Really enjoy your travels 👍
True. Though with no (heavy) load connected, the inverter should not give low voltage alarm. Even an el cheapo voltmeter will give the voltage reading at the inverter input and provide valuable information to troubleshoot.
Great video as always guys! Also Rick I'm with you on the dragons, interesting podcast I listened to, They said the same every culture has dragons. Apparently cause of there size to make them fly they would have had exo skeletons that birds have basically hollow bones! Fun facts they are also the only bones that will not fossilise! I'm only passionate cause I want a dragon 🤣
Other people on YT have tested this unit to it’s rated output with no problem. Have you checked the batteries to see if the BMS is shutting down. The way the alarm dies away sounds like there has been a battery disconnect.
Yes i climbed all those steps upto the abby but it being french there restorations differ to uk work it looked bare and a bit rough and ready so was not impressed plus it was heaving with tourists when we were there, We drove in are camper upto the car park , have they got size/weight limit that stopped you ?
Dragons do exist. Just ask any married man. The dragon usually goes by the title of mother in-law. Mont Saint Michel. Been many times with school groups as a coach driver. Wonderful place. Good choice.
@@Touringwiththekids I already home school my son. In the process trying to build my camper over the winter in my spare time. Van builds take so much time and energy and money.
The dragon thing may have come from people finding dinosaur bones. Back then telling people you killed a dragon while drinking around a campfire and showing them some bones from a dinosaur, probably made them a hero :D
Sorry Guys, fire throwing Dragons is a myth they have never existed. I think China is where the dragon is talked about most and next year is the year of the dragon which is I think for love and friendship. But does it matter? Myth or no myth of cause it doesn’t, life is all about living and enjoying what ever floats your boat😂😂. JY OZ
2000W divide 230v = 8.6 amps, this sounds too small to me, please seek the correct answer from a qualified person your batteries are wired in parallel, the monitor leads can be on either batt. make the leads from the batts to the inverter as heavy + short as possible, this will cut any voltage drop [which may be your alarm trigger] ideally you want to facetime the [systems] factory trouble-shooter, you are a bit famous, it should help [as vans on fire is bad publicity] talking of fire, where is your CO2 fire extinguisher [it needs to be close to hand, but not in the locker] fingers crossed for dry weather
@frederickclements2647 the bible does speak of it a number of times using the word Leviathon. Here is just one reference. Job 41:17-29 NLT [17] Each scale sticks tight to the next. They interlock and cannot be penetrated. [18] “When it sneezes, it flashes light! Its eyes are like the red of dawn. [19] Lightning leaps from its mouth; flames of fire flash out. [20] Smoke streams from its nostrils like steam from a pot heated over burning rushes. [21] Its breath would kindle coals, for flames shoot from its mouth. [22] “The tremendous strength in Leviathan’s neck strikes terror wherever it goes. [23] Its flesh is hard and firm and cannot be penetrated. [24] Its heart is hard as rock, hard as a millstone. [25] When it rises, the mighty are afraid, gripped by terror. [26] No sword can stop it, no spear, dart, or javelin. [27] Iron is nothing but straw to that creature, and bronze is like rotten wood. [28] Arrows cannot make it flee. Stones shot from a sling are like bits of grass. [29] Clubs are like a blade of grass, and it laughs at the swish of javelins

Goats were usually the animal most often associated with the devil. Never heard of dragons being the same, also the devil is another mythical creature created by religious people as a method of control in older times as is shown in one form or another in other older religions. It's all rubbish but people still get brainwashed into it early in life.
Great vid guys and I hope the weather improves for you, however don’t you think you are socially disadvantaging your children ? They are isolated with their siblings and parents and have very little time to interact with others of their age as would children who attend school ?
Hi we had same problem with same setup did you preload your inverter. ? You can do this by using a lead pencil so you put lead pencil to positive contact on battery then other end of pencil to the positive lead creating a Bridgestone. Once you have done this put positive lead to the battery. If you need a chat I could send my number ok

Cable size for the 2000w inverter needs to be a minimum of 70mm.
An inverter that big needs to be direct to the batteries to get the full ampage out of the batteries to the inverter.
Just a tip, always keep the drive axles on firm ground when possible to prevent any bogging.
Your battery fix for parallel is the correct method

Love that, it's all very interesting stuff!
Love the adventure guys, stay safe, hope you get the inverter sorted.
Thank you ☺️
2000W seems very low for a hairdryer, i use 8000W peak so i know nothing will trip out.
if the inverter can actually provide 2000W, that should suffice for a mainly resistive load like a hair dryer
Other people on YT have tested this unit to it’s rated output with no problem. Have you checked the batteries to see if the BMS is shutting down. The way the alarm dies away sounds like there has been a battery disconnect.
Is your inverter 24v input or 12v as you are now providing it with 24v
Yes i climbed all those steps upto the abby but it being french there restorations differ to uk work it looked bare and a bit rough and ready so was not impressed plus it was heaving with tourists when we were there, We drove in are camper upto the car park , have they got size/weight limit that stopped you ?
I imagine its very different when its heaving with tourists!!
ip is easy to change with out them. and free if you no how 🤣🤣🤣
Should have used Victron.
Dragons do exist. Just ask any married man. The dragon usually goes by the title of mother in-law. Mont Saint Michel. Been many times with school groups as a coach driver. Wonderful place. Good choice.
Sounds like you need to get someone to look at your Electric s. But stay save a d be save.
Fantastic video. You inspire me to take my son away more.
Go for it! That's awesome
@@Touringwiththekids I already home school my son. In the process trying to build my camper over the winter in my spare time. Van builds take so much time and energy and money.
I think that is the problem😁...
The dragon thing may have come from people finding dinosaur bones. Back then telling people you killed a dragon while drinking around a campfire and showing them some bones from a dinosaur, probably made them a hero :D
Quite possibly!
Coooold
Sorry Guys, fire throwing Dragons is a myth they have never existed. I think China is where the dragon is talked about most and next year is the year of the dragon which is I think for love and friendship. But does it matter? Myth or no myth of cause it doesn’t, life is all about living and enjoying what ever floats your boat😂😂. JY OZ
Another great video..I believe in dragons..you ain't met my mother in law 😂😂only joking. 👍👍
Haha did you put the only joking part just in case she reads your comment 😂
@@Touringwiththekids yes mate lol 😆
Keira tell Rick not to comment 😂
24v or 12 v ?
Wired in parallel so remains as 12v system 👍
Hi how are you doing
hey
Dragons existed 100%
🏴
Looks like 24v
Wired in parallel so remains as 12v system 👍
2000W divide 230v = 8.6 amps, this sounds too small to me, please seek the correct answer from a qualified person
your batteries are wired in parallel, the monitor leads can be on either batt.
make the leads from the batts to the inverter as heavy + short as possible, this will cut any voltage drop [which may be your alarm trigger]
ideally you want to facetime the [systems] factory trouble-shooter, you are a bit famous, it should help [as vans on fire is bad publicity]
talking of fire, where is your CO2 fire extinguisher [it needs to be close to hand, but not in the locker] fingers crossed for dry weather
Yes, I believe dragons were real as they were biblical they were wipped out during the great floor
I think dragons existed.
🫣🤣🤣🤣
@frederickclements2647 the bible does speak of it a number of times using the word Leviathon. Here is just one reference. Job 41:17-29 NLT
[17] Each scale sticks tight to the next.
Love your vids, but Surfshark???? Don't know why so many UTubers are doing it but these promotions really spoil a good vlog. Am sick to death of Readly, Surfshark, electric bikes etc. I forward the vid so far I miss real content. I have even unsubbed from a few channels because they are getting ott with it.
Hi, a lot of time and effort goes into producing these videos, which are completely free for you to watch. By having sponsors it allows us to continue producing these videos 😃
sponsors like Surfshark pay the youtubers to make the ads., vital when the algorithm sucks. No ads, possibly no vlogs.
Dragons are indeed mythical and represent the devil. To prove this, look at a picture of a dragon and then compare that with a picture of the devil.
Goats were usually the animal most often associated with the devil. Never heard of dragons being the same, also the devil is another mythical creature created by religious people as a method of control in older times as is shown in one form or another in other older religions. It's all rubbish but people still get brainwashed into it early in life.
Think the dragon myth came from people who found dinosaur bones back then..
Great blog guys ,how’s the truck doing on fuel as it’s the long run you have ha ,you are giving the kids great education who does the home schooling, wow the wind is ruff so pleased you are enjoying you Europe trip so far ,think you need a electrician before you have a fire not joking please get it looked at I hate electric problems do you ,give me a engine problem any day ,take care enjoy your trip so jealous lol Joh. 🎄🌹🇬🇧😂🧑🦽🧑🦽😜🤣🏅
