This documentary is by far the best anything about china that I've ever come across. Everything else either treats China like a strange and imperial-based society only involved in gun powder and war myths, or as a broken and destroyed society left as a copy of the west after the cultural revolution. But this gives true insight into the Chinese character, tradition and aesthetic. This show allows us to see all the beauty, refinement and learnedness of china as opposed to all the modern problems it has.

+Acquavallo There were some very good BBC documentaries about inventions and genius of the ancient world that showed the developments of earthquake detectors, metal refinement, and architecture.

Really enjoyed this. Why does the tweedy woman look away from the camera?

Very nice program Mr. Lars; you are in the tradition of great british narrators, very instructive your introduction to the world of ceramics. But regarding more general chinese topics ¿you couldn't find antyhing better than Martin Jacques? he not only has very superficial knowledge of China but he is the author of several absolute nonsence theories about China that must be music to the Chinese Communist Party.

Very good video but I can do without the woman, she never blinks and appears scared to death. Sorry
