VE-JV1 expansion board is different than SR-JV80 series. Only a few Roland synth that supports it such as JV-35/50/90/1000, and keyboard controllers such as A-70 and A-90. Basically this board is actually the sounds from the legendary Roland JV-80. So, if you have JV-35 or JV-50 included with VE-JV1, congratulations, you've got two Roland sound cores in one keyboard, SC-55mkII and JV-80.
@@vintagesynthesizers true it's not double the polyphony per say but you get 28+28 notes of polyphony with 2 JV engines and 24+28 notes of polyphony with the JV and Sound Canvas engines.
I have my JV-50 throughout the years without the expansion pack and never knew what I missed. Currently I use it mostly as a midi keyboard, so I guess I will not spend any money on this card. Currently I play a lot on analogue synth VSTs like the Oberheim OB-Xd. But it was nice to hear what opportunities I would have had the last decades.
A guy is selling one for 120€ in my area. For a beginner who likes composing role playing musics and such and saving it, do you recommand a new Roland/ brand in particular ? Thanks a lot.
Yep. That sounds like a 90's Roland sample based synth! Thanks for the demo. One of these is about to end on Ebay and just checking it out. I don't think I'll be buying it.
I recently bought a JV1000, it has this expansion board installed, but it's a nightmare. From what I've read, it's not really compatible with the JV1000, and the additional two banks of sounds cannot be accessed via the front panel. Pity, as some of the sounds that you are showcasing here would be useful addition.
The recording is full of distortion, overdrive and clipping. It gives a deceptive impression of the sound of the synthesizer. Like this synthesizer sounds so aggressive. You are misleading people with posts like this. Is it really that hard to control the level of clipping when recording? Too bad... This could have been a great demo
@@gearfacts 1730 videos? )) When did you have time? )) The point is not that you made a mistake once. It's that there are almost no decent demos of JV-50 on UA-cam with good recording quality to make a conclusion about the sound of this synthesizer. Your demo is almost the only one recorded through a cable. And it completely distorts the perception of this synthesizer. It would be better if there was no such video, because you can mistakenly think that the synthesizer sounds so aggressively distorted, because this recording is not on a microphone, but through a wire.
I listened to the video again and it sounded just like what I was hearing in the headphones on the day. Some soft sounds, some harsh ones. All seemed true to the original. Sorry man I just don't hear the problem that you're hearing.@@EuroDJ
@@gearfacts Load the recording into an audio editor, and you will see that all the tops of the signal are cut off in most cases. It was as if the signal had been cut off by a clipper. There was clearly distortion, then the signal level was made quieter.
I really don't see that it's a problem. The recording isn't studio quality, sure, but the viewers are discerning enough to understand the keyboard from this demo. It's easy to get bogged in the detail. @@EuroDJ
@@gearfacts According to the translator, he said: "And in the end you did not see any demonstration of the expansion, your video is very bad". Well, I don't think so. This demo is simple but nice info.

Yep it's a good kit :) Gearfacts
If you have a JV90 or JV1000 you affectively double the polyphony of those instruments to 56 voices which was quite impressive at the time.
@@madness8556 I'd say you get 2 synths in one case, not double polyphony as they still are independent.

Yes, I think you'd be happy with Roland. Many of their synths are flexible and upgradeable too.

Yeah it's nice but it sounds pretty dated now. Didn't quite stand the test of time :)
Will this make it like the Roland jv 80 with more sounds Or where this chip come?

True, to be honest I'm having a hard time understanding the enduring value of this synth, it left me pretty cold. Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
How comparable is this to a Roland SC88 module?
I think the SC-88 is way ahead. More sounds, more effects. Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
SC-88 module has more advanced, more custom GM sounds. While JV-35 and JV-50 internal sounds are equivalent to SC-55 mkII sounds.
Olá boa noite tudo bem
