This was the climax to one of the most riveting and iconic storylines in the history of daytime drama, garnering OLTL three Emmys for acting and one for writing. OLTL was superb that year,

One of the best soap scenes ever. I remember my sister and I cheering when we saw this the first time. It was such a shocker. Normally I wouldn't want a defense attorney to throw a case, but this was so satisfying to watch.

I Love you for posting this. Probably the greatest moment on OLTL EVER.

Hilary B. Smith is such a phenomenal actress. And this scene proves it.

This has to be right up there with Karen Wolek's testimony in 1979 and Herb forcing Niki out of Viki to clear Tina of Harry O'Neill's murder in 1985... OLTL does courtroom drama BUT GOOD.

OMG, this was the BEST acted court case in Daytime drama . I LOVED This court trial. It was the most engaging shows during the early nineties that I can remember. Susan Haskell was and STILL IS unbelieveably hot and such a great actress. BUT THEY ALL were. NORA, Marty, Everyone involved with this court case was just superb. I remember crying for marty lol. THIS WAS DAYTIME AT ITS BEST !!!!! LOVE NORA, LOVE MARTY!!!!

Hillary B. Smith (Nora), Susan Haskell(Marty) and Roger Howarth (Todd) all won Emmys in 1994for this storyline

I love how Nora and Marty are friends now, I think she will always regret defending Todd on this case.

I haven't seen this since '93 either and I remember thinking "OMG... GO, NORA!!!" It was such a shock! If I recall, Marty tricked a confession out of Todd in the hospital a few weeks later.

Very powerful scene. The acting was on par with the movies. I almost think they sort of duplicated this in a way for the movie 'A Time to Kill'. 'I want to tell you a story. I'm going to ask you all to close your eyes while I tell you the story. I want you to listen to me. I want you to listen to yourselves.'

This scene gives me chills everyone. I hated Todd at this time. he became my favorite all time character bc of Roger's phenomenal.acting mixed with the stellar writing music etc but hillary b smith was brilliant and earned her emmy. all 3 actors earned their emmys
I was in 7th grade this summer and my whole family and I were addicted to this storyline I don't think I went outside. never saw a character and storyline catch lighting in a bottle like this. Roger started as frat boy 1 to an icon how many times does that happen on a soap? he was only 24 years old as well amazing maturity for his age

This clip won Hilary her lead actress emmy. She was so brilliant and this scene is so intense still gives me chills. Morally she was right if they got off they could never be prosecuted again double jeopardy. Legally she was wrong. Its a tough dilemma and once kevin was cleared she should have quit I think it was early enough. She asked fitzie to be released but it was at the end . If she quit it would be a mistrial bc ur lawyer dropping u right before summation makes u look guilty . Todd getting up screaming what the hell are you doing ! And Nora with every gavel bang wincing. Hank def should have been grateful which he was bc I think they would have gotten off. The kevin mistake was a big hit against her I think.

WOW! I remember when this first aired, but missed this scene. All I saw was the judge declaring a mistrial. They all but engraved Hillary B. Smith's name on the Emmy after this aired. Michael Malone wrote the scene and won an Emmy too.

Nora did a better job for the prosecution then hank did. Before this she nearly got weak link Powell to confess on the stand.

Agreed and I loved both Hank and Nora in the courtroom But Hank was aggressive and Hardcore in the courtroom sometimes to point it got on my nerves

The show also won for Best Writing... the irony is that the show wasn't even nominated for Outstanding Show. AMC won that year.

It wasn't too sudden. She started to feel that Todd was guilty. There's a lot of scenes that are not posted here that showed her confusion and guilt through evidence and other witnesses, etc.
