*HTC One (M8) review* Full review: goo.gl/ANBhGj Refining what was so great about the One (M7), HTC's latest high-end offering has a lot to offer. Here's our comprehensive HTC One (M8) review! By *****
Ignas Avižinis I think htc cut out about 20% of potential customers because of the camera nonsense. Guess Sony is going to be picking up those customers with the z2
One of the best reviews I have seen on any product. It is done professionally without the hype. He speaks neither too fast of too slow, very easy to understand. I am immediately subscribing
I just bought this phone Sept2019 and it is a classic example of top spec phones.Overall its a phone no nonsense for. working professionals who can't afford to.be let down
HTC One M8's camera takes great pictures but still not as good as the other flagships although it has another cool feature than can make up for that The bottom line is that the M8 (in my opinion) offers the best of everything except the camera The top performer, i'm talking about day to day usage not benchmarks, benchmarks already tricked us a lot You get the best design and the best feeling phone in your hand You get those amazing boomsound speakers You get the sense tv app which is really great You get the most beautiful android skin which is sense 6.0 You get the fast android updates which you don't find on any other android phone expect the nexus phones, and HTC promises at least two years of update In the end... You get the best overall experience !! So don't let the camera make you take your eyes off this beauty, and remember that the camera is still great and gets the job done for most people in most situation, especially in low light situations
"Even though the camera might be a wrinkle in an otherwise great package, it is definitely not a dealbreaker". This is exactly how I feel about the M8. Thanks Josh for a great review! I think you did a great job showing all of its strengths while still pointing out that it has its flaws too, but what phone doesn't? I look forward to my M8 in 9 days. I hope all of you that already have this phone are enjoying it! The camera is decent and that's all I need. I look forward to any more possible coverage you may do on this phone. If any of you are currently using this device, tell me how you like it!
Very impressive review, in regards to both content and aesthetics. The review really emphasizes the phone's good points rather than mellowing on its shortcomings. Nice one +Joshua Vergara! Waiting for the Xperia Z2/tablet review!
This, and its predecessor, the M7, after two hands-on walk-throughs via friends, is what convinced me to recently change from a Moto G2 to HTC 10 owner... Despite what others (especially Samsung owners) say, the10 offers a much better experience for a power user such as myself!
The camera is the only thing preventing me from buying this phone. Hopefully the M9 would have a better one. I love the construction quality that almost Jo other phone can par with.
Brandon P but he didn't even mentioned Apple. Maybe he doesn't mind the incremental updates of Apple. Anyway, the recent incremental updates is a sign that the smartphone industry is maturing. There is only so much OEMs can do
I'm probably going to wait for both the M9 and Z4 to be announced but, just for the sake of it, is the M8 a better investment than the Z3? All the comparisons and reviews I see make them sound sooo similar. The only difference seems to be the speakers/camera.
The black bar with the HTC logo on it is used to house the digitizer, the part of the screen that monitors touch input. All phones have this, it isn't exclusive to the One.
Great review! Are you guys going to be reviewing the Oppo Find 7? That would be awesome if you did because I'm considering picking one up or will you wait until the premium version is available?
Some points i want to make for that phone: 1) First of all i find that it looks amazing. And thats even after the mediocre first impression it made for me. At first i liked the m7 more but as i see this one in the hands of reviewers i like it very very much 2) Sense is nice looking has nice features looks cool and its very very fast since last year. Deffinitelly faster than other OEM. 3) The boomsound is a nice feature both for media and for phone calling. Many is the time i find myself in a crowded area or a bus without handsfree (i barely use them) and i struggle to hear what the caller says. 4) I wish HTC did better with the camera. I dont care that much but i would prefer a simple shooter with no second camera for after shot refocus and with small pixel count camera. 5) I wish HTC had better after market service. Thats what i had to say. Josh you probably did the best review of that phone. Good job buddy.
Can't wait for Z2 comparison, I think I'd have to go with the One but it's a hard decision. What would I enjoy more? Watching UA-cam vids in the tub my noise cancellation on any headphones, or shutting off the teachers projector in class with the I.R. blaster?
Im still getting a HTC One M8 this friday for T-Mobile and its coming out the same day as the Galaxy S5 so I hope the lines are not going to be nuts that day
I love the look & build quality. That being said, I agree with others who feel this year's phone offerings might not be worth dropping 6+bills on. The only unique and intriguing device I would go for is the Sony Experia Z2. Classy, tough and a 20 mp camera. Now if only .ore carriers got it.
Just bought the HTC one m8 last week.. Its the best phone I've ever used.. I've owned every galaxy and I'm just sick of plastic.. Samsung dropped the ball. HTC wins again this year
This is a perfect review. I have been in search for what's the best smartphone to buy. And considering that iPhone 6 and 6plus were released in the market, I'll get the HTC One M8. I'll stick to the flexibilty in terms of performance--and I found it in HTC One M8. It's a lovely and a fantastic phone! Thanks for the review! Cheers!
for me, i can summarize all 2014 gadgets by adding snapdragon 800/801, adreno 330, an extra 1 GB Ram, and adding 1 or 2 MP to da camera ... everything else is roughly da same as 2013's >>> but i guess that da significance in 2014 will be an upgrade to da cheap to middle-class gadgets. Not sure though!
It must've been hard to improve upon last years HTC One, but they did it! Though we're huge fans of Samsung's Galaxy devices, the HTC M8's improvements blow the Galaxy S5's boring upgrades away.
Just been store and this blows away Galaxy S5 in build no doubt. I prefer the camera, but thats not the results, it's the fact is doesn't stick out inviting scratches like the Samsung. Looked at LG G3 and that was immediately a no, but my biggest gripe with the M8 is why the Sony Xperia gets a definite no. You thing the bezel on the bottom is big on M8, look in store at the Xperia. It's absolutely massive, look for yourselves.
Just got a amber gold one from best buy, my contract ends at the end of the month but I found a loophole that was just fixed about 2 hours ago. Customer support called me up to confirm on how I did it and they gave me the phone for free for helping fix the 2 year contract loophole.
I have the HTC one m8 I love it. Everything about it is great the speakers are amazing. Now battery life holy hell I get up at 420 am take my phone off the charger and by the time i go to bed around 10 and my battery is at 34 % that's with me using my phone all day emails Facebook instagram taking pics making calls and texting. Love my HTC one m8!!
I would say this phone is much better But the camera quality is definitely not good enough to be compared with s5. If u want the s5, just go and buy the s4. The s5 is pretty much the same as the s4 except Samsung improved to quality of the camera and added some stupid features.
I also have the i4 and tbh, as much as i LOVE ios, it's not worth getting another iphone tht has 1cm in plus on the screen....i want a bigger screen faster phone and customizable stuff....i will keep my beloved iphone but i will get the htc one or the m8 :) So i recommend getting and HTC as they r way better than samsung in so many ways.....imo
Well first if all, how rude of you all, welcome to the android side ♡ it all depends on what you want in a phone. 'cause you're coming from an iPhone I would recommend the HTC 'cause Samsung is a little intimidating. but if you like those crazy quirks of a puzzle then Samsung might be your bae
Well I have had an android before, a samsung galaxy s2 continuum. and I have a Nexus tablet so I am very familiar with android. Just trying to see which one will be better!
So let me get this straight. It's ok for this phone to take bad low light photos and not a single good day light photo (remember this phone is marketed as the low light photography phone) but you dissed the xperia z1 for having some grain on low-light photos? ImXtinct I agree with you, but I also agree with Joe because this is 2014 and even just an 8MP camera would've been fine. I have a Canon camera for any real pictures I want to to take, but it would be nice if my phone had a bit more capability in terms of photography. Still totally in love with this phone and I'm buying it the second my contract ends (in 9 days) but HTC better step it up next year. If they are going to have 2 cameras, one should be a high megapixel, for daytime, and one low, for low light. Then use both for what they made them to do.
John Chao AndersFrom lol Z2 does not have the best camera. S5 has the best camera out there right now. The Z2 does have a 20MP camera, but it only supports most of its camera enhancements, such as Superior Auto or Scene Mode, at 8MP. That means if you're taking a picture at 20MP, you're taking a very basic manual picture. If you're very into taking pictures and enjoy the different settings available, this would be very disappointing. The pictures are still very good, but don't be deceived by the 20MP marketing ploy. Know what you're getting into.
carl martin no have not held it. My wife liked the One and wanted a bigger screen than her GS3. I think she will go for it. Only negative IMO for her is the weight. After using plastic she will definitely notice it.
***** I think she will like the weight because it's oozing 🇶🇺🇦🇱🇮🇹🇾 and she could use it against her attacker... women love that idea😉 ...If you put that thought in her head.. if you know what I meen👍😃lol
Hey~ I've done some research on phones to buy, and it boils down to htc m8 or oneplus one. And the only deal breaker would be that htc m8 has better speakers and call quality. Can you give me an advice? I'm getting an offer of $620 for m8, and $465 for oneplus one (obvious mark up for ready stock in my country)
They need the extra huge black bar on the bottom because they had to add the gimmick second camera on top to make it as long as a phablet. Come on HTC give us a regular 13+ mp. Besides that nice phone
I think only the 4-megapixel camera is turning me off on this. I think if they went with a higher megapixel camera it would be a lot better. But otherwise a great phone.
Should i get this phone? I have been saving up and i want a good reliable phone that will last a few years.... Like 3-4 years cuz these phones cost a lot. I want a fast phone thats pretty strong cuz i may drop it. I aint getting a iphone so dont recommend that.
For people who have the m8, its normal that if i cover the left hand side of each speaker covers the sound completely? and half the speaker (right hand side) has some white stuff or something. Weird
How did you set up those little app folder at the bottom on the screen??? I noticed they are the even when you are on the lock screen.... Thanks joshua

Great review; as always objective, and informative ;n) Thx Joshua
Nice review!
I'm stuck between m8 and s5. Only reason I haven't gone to m8 for sure is camera :/
Can't wait for the Z2 Review. You are doing a great job Josh!
Yes! That's the one I want to see too.
Danielle S me too
Agreed. Camera IS a deal breaker for me on M8. I was so excited when the rumors about 16 mpx camera showed up
The z2 seems like the new alternative choice to the m7
Ignas Avižinis
I think htc cut out about 20% of potential customers because of the camera nonsense. Guess Sony is going to be picking up those customers with the z2

I have always liked Josh's honesty in his reviews. Kudos to you guys!
Still prefer the S5. The water & dust proof features edged it out 4 me. plus I heard the battery is a beast

Android Authority certainly does the best reviews on any phoneI love the HTC one M8!
michelle you are awesome
I was going to buy it, but I need better cam.
Looks so appealing! How is the battery life? That tends to be what I'm worried about :/
Can't wait for Z2 comparison, I think I'd have to go with the One but it's a hard decision. What would I enjoy more? Watching UA-cam vids in the tub my noise cancellation on any headphones, or shutting off the teachers projector in class with the I.R. blaster?
I currently have a M7 but I'll wait for the next hot smartphone. I don't like an onscreen menu because make the screen shorter except on UA-cam app.
Held the one in my local phone shop and it's spectacular. I hope you don't do a drop test on this, I might cry :'(
wouldn't it be cool if there was a copper/bronze version? made of copper and aluminium.
This is just my ideal phone!! Looks perfect!

Hey Josh, which phone have you used for the past year? What do you have now?
Nice phone but I'll stick to my M7 and wait for the HTC One 2015/M9
nah man i will stick to my moto g till it dies which will be after 15 years
M23 ALL THE WAY!!
The CIRCLE Well, the Moto G is a great phone!
The CIRCLE why bother writing this? You didn't get the m7 last year but a moto g instead so you're obviously not in for any of the flagships anyway?

Just went from iPhone 5 to this new one m8 and now android for life.
I want to upgrade my phone which one should I choose, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or HTC one m8?
I'm using the galaxy note 2 now....
Getting this phone on Monday, so excited

I like how the notification bar color changes when you go into other applications
How much can you customize it? Can you get themes for ur phone so icons look better or can you put other icons on that tray? Ty
I'm jumping from and iPhone 3 to this phone. Is it good?
Still the best phone on the market!!!
Would you have this phone over the samsung galaxy s5?
Can't decide if I want this phone or the galaxy s5. I have an iPhone 4 right now.
Galaxy S5 is what I am gettin

can you say which is better: sony xperia z2 or htc one (m8)
Good review as usual Josh!
I would have to say best review I seen all day
Is it worth switching from the M7 to this?
So let me get this straight. It's ok for this phone to take bad low light photos and not a single good day light photo (remember this phone is marketed as the low light photography phone) but you dissed the xperia z1 for having some grain on low-light photos? When it does do much more than what the m8 does and it does better? I don't understand the difference in opinion between two phones? Oh well.
I still like my S3
but looking at current phones.
S5, Z2, M8, LG Flex
all of them have pros/cons
Thank you for taking the time to make this video my man. This helps immensly

If you want to dive into photography, get a DSLR. Don't go expecting a smartphone to perform amazingly well for that purpose. This is a great phone.
That if you want a better camera use a dslr rebuttal is getting old. Hardly no one carries digital cameras with them anymore. Everyone uses their cell phones and having 4mp with no zoom is a joke

***** can you try to get your hands on and review the Google play edition of this phone once it ships in a couple weeks?
HTC One m8 or Sony Xperia Z2.......so confused??????
how good is the battery? is it enough to last from 10am (the time I start using my phone) to about 11pm?
is this good enough to use?I was thinking of buying it now?moto x style/pure or M8?
m8
If they are going to have 2 cameras, one should be a high megapixel, for daytime, and one low, for low light. Then use both for what they made them to do.
That's what I thought too, when the phone was still rumored
That was creative at the start. Good job pinoy guy lol.
M8 vs Z2 vs Lg G3
Which one should i get? i really like them all.
I'd appreciate anyones help.
thanks :D
Great video. it should be mentioned though, T-mobiles M8 Isn't out until
April 11th. waiting to go pick one up from them.
Thanks Joshua. Can you please do a review on HTC ONE M8 Google Play Edition? That would really help.
Good review Josh I should had waited to get this phone lol I have the one m7 do you know when htc is going to update it to sense 6?
So... what about the battery life?
Do they have an all black version? Or is that coming out later?
I really need an advice! What should i get: The M8, Z2 or S5? Please explain! :) Btw the camera means alot to me
You should go with S5
Z2 out of the 3 has the best camera. M8 has best sound. S5... best heart rate sensor.
S5 camera is also one of the best....

Why couldn't they keep the capacitive buttons? The on screen buttons just adds another black bar on some apps
The most thing I hate about Android phones is On Screen button.A lot of phones would've been perfect for me if it wasn't for the on screen button.
Nice review, worth every second.
Could you do a HTC One M8 vs Sony Xperia Z2 review please? I'm actually having a hard time picking between the two
Could you guys do a video comparing the m8 to the xperia z2? Im really torn between these two phones
Very good review. Nice video ***** 👍
Yep good job ..... Just waiting for my dot case and I will be completed 😛
carl martin I may get it for my wife if she wants it. For me personally I am probably going to wait for next version.

Better u buy htc m8...superb design n nice apps..realy nice for u
My birthday is coming on sunday and I still can't decide if I should get this phone or the S5. Please help!!
Is this video a little quiet for anything even on high volume?
They need the extra huge black bar on the bottom because they had to add the gimmick second camera on top to make it as long as a phablet. Come on HTC give us a regular 13+ mp. Besides that nice phone
will stay with my m7...will wait for m9 next year :)
I think only the 4-megapixel camera is turning me off on this. I think if they went with a higher megapixel camera it would be a lot better. But otherwise a great phone.
That is what is stopping me gettin this phone
Bcoz of the camera i might go to the s5, but i really don't like the s5
Should i get this phone? I have been saving up and i want a good reliable phone that will last a few years.... Like 3-4 years cuz these phones cost a lot. I want a fast phone thats pretty strong cuz i may drop it. I aint getting a iphone so dont recommend that.
Does the M8 support 24 bit audio? I use a headphone amp for music listening, so high quality audio is important to me.
For people who have the m8, its normal that if i cover the left hand side of each speaker covers the sound completely? and half the speaker (right hand side) has some white stuff or something. Weird
This or note 3?
Really really nice review Josh :)
good review im definitely getting this phone
Might want to wait and see how the one plus one is going to be.
Kostadin Kody true I just might do that
is this phone still a viable contender with all the new phonesa?
Yes it is one of the best phones out right now
Jermaine Oree it's funny seeing your comment cause I went out and got the phone😀
Any idea when you'll be doing an Xperia Z2 review?
