@@bennshouts omg you are my idol I literally love you ❤
🥺🥺🥺🥺 omg LUV U!!!!
The principal *
Boi trust me, if you watch the movie you will not feel bad for Kelly.
😱😱😱 omg whaaaaaaat?!?!
Right? 😂😂😂
@@bennshouts se the movie pls
(8:40)
"Oh, that sounds sick"
*cough*
that was too perfect
Hahahahahahah
In my opinion the whole album and film is a metaphor for life. The school represents the world and all the songs represents different issues going on. The principles/ teachers/staff represents anyone in power and the students represents people. I absolutely love this album and how genius Melanie is.
Yesss thats such a good summary! So so so clever!!!
you should watch the film!!
Hahah i willll
Esto no se detiene nunca, verdad?
@@bennshouts plz post reaction
@@bennshouts plz post reaction
2 years later and i still cant find the vid of u reacting to the film :(@@bennshouts
here's a brief summary of each song and what message it gives since melanie's songs at time have double and even triple meanings based on the person listening and as to how you connect with her music it's all quite metaphorical and with K-12 melanie tried to portray school as the condensed version of real life, the things we face in school are the things we face in our daily lives but on a bigger level.
♢ *Wheels on the Bus* : The song takes place on the bus ride to K-12 Sleepaway School. Cry Baby observes the students around her participating in inappropriate behaviors, such as having sex, smoking marijuana in the school bus, and bullying/harassment. She attempts to ignore it and is disgusted with the nature of her classmates. She acknowledges that the bus driver knows what is happening but is choosing not to address it.
The bus driver is likely a metaphor for the authorities, who see all the wrong things that are happening in the world but do nothing to stop it.
♢ *Class Fight* : The song is about Cry Baby's jealousy of Kelly's relationship with Brandon as Cry Baby has a crush on him. The chorus of the song features an imaginary conversation between Cry Baby and her parents, with her mom telling her not to harm Kelly and her dad telling her to "go for the throat" which means do what you think is the best but crybaby takes the advice too literal and literally goes for the throat.
The song may be about how women are constantly pitted against each other, specifically in the music industry.
♢ *The Principal* : This song uses the Principal as a metaphor for Donald Trump. It is a critique for how he is cruel and greedy, allowing innocent people, including children, to die just to get his way. Throughout his presidency, he divided the people in his nation and caused lots of suffering.
♢ *Show & Tell* : This song is about as to how artist are treated by the public, how they're seen to be 'perfect' and are idolized and put on a pedestal as if they're not humans just like everyone else. But when they do show that they're human and make mistakes that everyone else does, ppl are in denial and they bash them for that.
♢ *Nurse's Office* : In this song CryBaby fakes illness in order to get out of the bullying she faces in school and the only way to avoid is to end up in the Nurse's Office.
THANK YOU!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Might be a bit of a stretch but I think Nurse's Office is an allegory for how people use pharmaceuticals (pink slip = prescription) and alcohol (glugging noises to escape all the bullshit of adult life. The system's made us sick but as long as we're willing to sit in that sickness we don't have to do anything about it or "go home." "Wishing I was ditching" I think is talking about schmuischmidal ideation. "Band-aids" is coping mechanisms... I could be wrong though.
@@WytchieBytch Thats exactly what I thought too but I’ve never seen anyone agree before, so glad I’m not alone in my thinking!!
The whole album feels like a giant metaphor about coming to la, celebrity culture and the industry with the occasional comment about Society and the US
So cry baby is pre fame and k-12 is experiencing it.
Omg YES THIS 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
yaaay finally the K-12 reaction! the huge part of the K-12 era was the *movie* that accompanied the album instead of individually making a MV for each song like she did with crybaby, she pushed herself and wrote, directed and starred in a feature length film which goes along with the album. the production of the songs is quite 3D with alot of sfx and real life sounds is cuz those sounds are incorporated in the musical film so you should definitely react to it once you're finished reacting to the "After School EP" listening to melanie's music and not watching the visuals is like...unusual I guess lol. I'd suggest you start reacting from the Crybaby visuals since it's all connect and both crybaby and K-12 visuals collectively tell a larger story so in order to connect with crybaby's story you'll have to watch the visuals in the chronological order which would crybaby MVs first and K-12 film after.
Wow, its like an entire world, SO IMPRESSIVE!!!
i JUST finished your cry baby reaction - you are blessingggg meeee
💘💘💘💘 anything for u
After School EP is next! I'd highly suggest when you react to the the EP, do pull the lyrics on Genius (accurate lyrics are only available on Genius) while you react cuz the EP is very very *lyrical* so it's quite easy to mishear the words and in order to connect with the music you'll definitely have to pay attention to the lyrics with this one! also while being the deluxe version of K-12, the EP is not about Crybaby the character but about melanie herself and it's quite personal and therapeutic so I'm excited to see as to how u interpret those songs
Ooo thanks for the tip! I’m keen for songs about HER 😍
Personally genius does bot fit after school to what i heard
I think the lyrics for Brain and heart on genius is less accurate
@@E10Cat the lyrics on genius are literally approved by melanie *HERSELF* she posted them on her IG story and tagged genius and they fixed the mistakes since there were *ALOT* of misheard lyrics
@@E10Cat there are literally verified by Mel herself
You are 100% right with having to listen to it again, I have been a fan since 2015 and it took me about a month for me to become attached to this album. And the movie help SO much, so I recommend it. But I promise read over the lyrics and jam out to the album and u will be obsessed!! Its so good💓
Phew! Glad I wasnt going insane hahaha
Def gonna listen heaps more before the EP!
My favorite is definitely orange juice and drama club is a close second. I like orange juice because it’s about eating disorders and I think it’s honestly a gorgeous song.
Looooove OJ! Cant believe thats what its about, 😨
I love your aesthetics 🥺😭😭 and your reactions are adorable. The movie helps makes the song more understandable.
Awww thank you!!! 💛💛💛💛
@@bennshoutswelcome. Just stating facts 💕
If you haven't already, watch the K-21 movie -- privately or react to it online whatever... the visuals really add a lot to understanding both Melanie and the lyrics.
Yeah, I gotta get onto it ☺️
@@bennshouts I actually stumbled onto the K-12 movie FIRST, not realizing it was named after her album. Then I sought her out on UA-cam and found this:
ua-cam.com/video/75Uw5cNB1JI/v-deo.html
What each song is about
Wheels on the bus: no one gives a shit about kids feelings anymore
Class fight:girls demonizing each other
The principal: how trump is bad
Show and tell: celebrities are still human
Nurses office: faking injuries to get out of bullying
Drama club: not wanting any drama
Strawberry shortcake: it’s not the girls fault boys can’t keep it in their pants
Lunchbox friends: having fake friends
Orange juice: bulimia
Detention: celebrities not being allowed to be any emotion but happy
Teachers pet: being groomed by a teacher
High school sweethearts: wanting a real relationship
Recess: trying to make the right decisions
I LOVE THIS 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanku!!!
the principal isn’t only about trump, is about men in general that use their power to take advantage from others
@@ourstarsalign0000 melanie said it was inspired by trump
@@Nathan-rm7ht ik, im just saying it isn’t only about trump
Class fight is about people always trying to put girls against each other!
This is by far, my favorite album
And, lunchbox friends is about fake friends :)
And orange juice is about, bulimia (eating disorder)
Watch the film!
idk if you plan on doing music videos at some point, i guess is harder to edit too, but this album came out with a whole movie that was directed by her irc, a lot of the real life sounds come from the visuals, its so impressive
Yeah videos are a lot harder :(
BUT i def wanna see these visuals!!!
React to Fire Drill from Melanie. It's in the film at the credits but wasn't included on the actual album.
Yep! Will add it when I do the EP
react to the film!!!!
Yes sir
the songs in this album definitely hit harder
After School EP next!!
Hahahaha yep 😛
i think cry baby has more on your face lyrics for sure, but i quite like how chill this one is
also i think she did/is doing an amazing job with carrying on this concept, cry baby was genius and i think this was a great follow up tbh
Agree 100% to this comment!
Legit what I was thinking

Great reaction ! AND I FUCKING LOVE YOUR MULLET ❤
THANK YOU!! 🤪
III by BANKS needs a reaction I think xx
Or her other album "The Altar"
Yessss need to get onto her! ❣️
banks need a full discography reaction just saying
@@zanoti4461 very much
Yes you should react to her other ep
But she has two
One she made before crybaby which includes dollhouse
And a new called After School
Also she released some "singles" one which is the ending credits for the movie k-12 which she made started and directed as well as much more.
As well as music videos for the album crybaby
(and she asked an artist to make a "storybook" picture for each song")
And a lyric video for play date and their is a story with crybaby and k-12. (Which I will explain in other comment)
Thank you!! 🥰🥰
In my opinion, it is definitely a heavier album than the first.
Yessss
would def like to see you react to banks! she just dropped her new lead single from her fourth album :)
Yessss! Will get onto her!
if you do react to her After School EP, you should listen to the two songs Copy Cat and Fire Drill. They were cut from the EP and made into singles
Ohhh, okay! Will add them in! Ty
@@bennshouts there's a single from the EP "The Bakery" and it has a MV which is not connected to the storyline of the albums so you should also react to it to get a taste of her visuals too
IM GETTING FED CANT WAIT FOR AFTER SCHOOL 😭
IT’S COMING
Recess is just such a gorgeous song
Yessssss
drama club means- “All the world’s a stage!” It’s not about her at all, except to the point that she doesn’t want to play a part in the metaphorical play that everyone around her is involved in, as if they’re all following a scripted play that someone has written. But she knows it’s all an act, they’re all wearing masks and reading from the same script. It’s her way of saying that she refuses to be a part of any of it, She walks off stage and does her own thing her own way, as an individual. The song screams for everyone to wake up and stop following all the other lemmings. Stop treating your life like it’s an act in a play. Be yourself... everyone else is already taken.
LOVE THIS
Moreeeeee mel for view
Ye boyyyy
i love your smile/laugh !! (binge watching your videos rn lmao im on the 4th one)
Omg you are the best
@@bennshouts no thank YOU. i love your reaction videos they kept me entertained for HOURS today
Here's my idea on why K-12 is darker than crybaby I think it's because in crybaby she's a smaller child and it's harder to understand adult topics from a young child's perspective and in K-12 she sings from a perspective of a person in the school system (which is effed up man) and her perspective is a emotionally sensitive person a "crybaby" so the messed up things she learned about life at school she can understand better because she's older and thinks different than her younger(cryBABY) self
*disclosure this is not official it's just the take of a 13yo girl who over thinks stuff
Oooo! I like it!!!!!
@@bennshouts thx it’s what my first thought was when I heard the album the first time
I’ve seen other cry babies (fandom name) comment here. I don’t know if anyone has said this but The albums do follow the character ‘CryBaby’. From what I know the storyline of the 1st album stops at ‘Mad Hatter’ and then continues onto Melanie’s 2nd Album ‘k-12’. The extra tracks in the 1st album are still of the character but not so much attached to the storyline. Meanwhile, melanies ep ‘after school’ is an experimental project that is more personal to Melanie.
So so insane! I love how indepth she is! So keen to get onto her EP! 😍😍
If you wach the movie you will hear another one of her songs that wasn't, released or listed I think at the time the move was out.
Ohhh yes keen
K-12 is so amazing omg! 🛐💕
YESSSS!!
Are you going to make a reaction to after school?!
I would love to watch it!
Yessss! I def will!
Please react to the album Lush by Mitski!!!! It’s my favorite album from her
After School EP will be even more DIFFERENT. So don’t have an expectation 😂💜
Hahahahahaha! I wont 😂😂😂
About orange juice, it's about eating disorders
"You turn oranges to orange juice" - Eating oranges and then throwing up orange juice
(Also the song directly references bullemia)
"Screaming at the mirror" - hating the way you look/your reflection in the mirror
😭😭😭
Melanie: sings about bulimia
Ben: sounds sick🥴
LOL stopppppppp
React to the film please
Will get to it x
When people react to her they usually skip over her more forgettable song like her First Ep DollHouse Ep it has doll house and carousel vut also 2 other songs bittersweet tragedy and dead to me
Also her Christmas song gingerbread man love the reactions
Ohhh! Im keen to hear them!
Please react to Hannah Diamond Reflections PLEASE!!!
Will add her to the list💎
heyy! I'd love to see your reactions to the album kid krow from conan gray, its sooo good!
Will add it to the list
Crybaby is a character a sort of self insert for Melanie
The first album talked about (Crybaby) crybaby and her life
(Which dose include SOME real world counterparts)
And k-12 expands on the world of crybaby where she goes to a school that goes through kindergarten to twelve grade I don't how to explain it or want to spoil the lore behind the music videos and movie so yeah
Ive heard K-12! Its so good!!
drama club is about how women never signed up to do what the society told them to
react to froot by marina 🙏🏼
Got to! Will get through her stuff for sure!
You sould watch tag you're it/milk and cookies

Orange Juice is about a girl struggling with Bulimia.
:( so sad
react to Maude Latour!!!! She's so talented, pleaseee
I willlll
send me "high school sweetheart " thanks in advance 😘 lol
Hahahahahahahaha 😘😘😘😘
Cry baby is an album for the Character Melanie plays, Aka cry baby. Cry Baby is finding herself, starting with her being a crybaby then through the middle she excepts her being crazy (mad hatter), and towards the end she finds love which...ends in a toxic relationship (Teddy bear and Cake).
k-12 is Highschool years, the first album was about her finding herself this Album is about school life and the issues in the school realm and growing up.
Aww I love that sm!!! 🥺🥺
Could you please react to Julia Michaels and her new album Not In Chronological Order please!!!
Will add her to the list
i love you
LOV U!!!
Orange Juice is about Eating Disorders. Stick it down your throat like to induce vomiting also please react to the After School album

@@bennshouts I had to rewatch the vid. This is what I get for using the video as background noise. 😔
Can you react to Backxwash! Her album "God has nothing to do with this leave him out of it" is amazing and something I think you would be into after watching your Cry Baby reaction. Backxwash is also a trans artist so it would be cool to see a reaction of her music during pride month!
I’ll try and get to it!
