- Winner of Eurosong and Eurovision Song Contest 1996. You either love or hate this song, I think now as I have got older, I can see why it won it's a very haunting and meaningful song.
The best song in Eurovision history.
Now this is an irish song worthy of euro vision. Not the shite we send these days.this song blew the competition out of the water.i remember watching this and saying to myself "that is the winner" and it turned out to be
This is the best Eurovision winner in the history of the event. Absolutely wonderful song, absolutely wonderful voice.
Eimear Quinn ♡ The Voice
Secret Garden ♡ Nocturne
The Best Songs of The Eurovision History.
My favourite song of all times!
12 points from Spain
How could somebody hate this sweet and precious song??!!Irland has a wonderfoul traditional music!!Thanks!:-)))
Eimear Quinns voice has a child like innocence and this what makes her version of this song work. Celtic Women are excellent performers. How ever there is difference in the frequency when listening as well as watching both singers perform. Eimear Quinn version of this song is The Voice of childlike innocence that lives within us all.
The best song of the eurovision history
+Secret Garden (Nocturne) 💜
Ehm no.
I think if it wasn't for mainly music in Norway song nocturne that would be a brilliant competition for this amazing song I agree with you this is the best ever song
She has the most amazing singing voice.!!
An viele Gewinner des ESC kann ich mich nicht mehr erinnern. Aber dieses Lied läuft bei mir auch nach fast 30 Jahren noch regelmäßig in meiner Song Liste. unvergessen. Eimear ❤
Álainn! Beautiful song, beautiful singer, beautiful voice. Must be one of the best ever Eurovision entries. Well done Ireland :)
I voted for her back then, it was amazing!!!
I still listen to it alot ;)
Beautiful, esotheric, angelic gives you wings instead of shivers. Not a masterpiece but a piece of heaven.
She sure is The Voice absolutely amazing gift from God she is brilliant and gorgeous too❤️💕😍👍😃💖
i loved this song from since i was still a 8 year old kid, it had something mystic yet so calming.
one of my favorite songs all time :)
As soon as heard this quite few years back now I was entchanted by eimiars voice and knew instantly it was a winner ss did many at the time and I asked this cd for xmas which I got I still have now amazing singer and great song
Just perfect...perfect....goes through your skin right to your heart....Amazing song! And what a voice...
Very beautiful and soothing voice...
very beautiful ''voice'' indeed!
Thank you Brendan Graham looking forward to seeing you on Sunday 21st of January 2024 in the National Concert hall Dublin Ireland.
This song represents to me 'My Ireland' the land I grew up in and was proud to be a part of. Naive child I was. This is unfortunately is a far cry from today both in the shite they are putting in for the eurovision every year now and also how this land has become, Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any more mythical mystical Ireland. Its all gone to hell. probably never to return. Well done Eimear in 96, and thanks for the wonderful memories, your song always brings me to happy times
WONDERFULL TALENT, pure voices are rare these days;;;
Ich habe nie verstanden ,warum dieses Lied in Deutschland kein Hit wurde . Ich finde es brilliant. Sehr gute Sängerin.
Loved it then, love it even more now. This is what our entries to eurovison should be about. Anyone should be able to hear the song and beable to say "that's irish"
OMG i was 2 years old and i only discovered this song when i was 15 or 16 thinking it was recent!
Beautiful !!
I love this song: wonderful.
2019, still awesome
This song is so beautiful:)
I've just found another diamond in music...
beautiful song!
:)
i was 7 in 1996 and i haven't heard this song since then but i memorised it til now, and it's one of the best songs ever played in eurosong
Great sound!
Love it or hate it? Huh? How could anyone not love this song??? ♥
Perfect
Mesmerising? 🥰
Such a beautiful song, can't help getting goosepimples!
The beginning got me thinking of the music in Lord of the Rings. Very beautiful voice and song.
she won it! her voice is amazing not many people can sing like that at all, it matches the celtic culture music perfectly!
Best winner ever! 🙂
Oh the old times. Come on people send songs like this to ESC again :)
Best version I've heard so far.
Perfect!
She's meant to embody to country, she is to be interpreted as "the voice" who could bring the country peace (1996 - during the Northern Ireland troubles)- it relates back to the feminine association of nationalism, really powerful.
It is breathy, but, in my opinion, it adds to the surreal atmosphere of the song. I absolutely love it.
I'm not an expert in music, but the lyrics are great and her voice is so damn good, and I loved this song very much that the moment I discovered youtube it was the first thing I was looking for
A voice wonderful.
220,000 thousand views???? Today's eurovision songs have a few million views on youtube... that only proves how people don't even know about this gorgeous piece of art. That's soo sad, cuz THIS is waaay better then today's esc. People should know about this.... the moment when she sings the first tone, it's just amazing... and the voice is just too beautiful.
An angel is singing ❤
A eurovision song that was great. Unbelievable! She has a beautiful voice.
mooiste stem ooit op een songfestival
Adoro esta cancion
su mensaje es tan profundo
y su interpretacion fue exelente
Such a lovely voice, seriously, *swoons*
love this song
I like this song and her voice ;)
this song is really x100000 nice
Gosh this takes me back.
LOOOOOOVE IT
WHOOOHOOOO ;)
definently, although irish myself i don't usually rate this type of music (i'm more a fan of 60s and 80s music myself), but this song is definently a stunner. absolutely spellbinding
genius GENIUS?!?! come on....I was only commenting on how f*cking amazing THE VOICE was, can't you appreciate how different they were?!?!??!??!?
wonderful!!!!!!!
great song
my personal favourite of all esc-songs
Wonderful Folk Song Won the Sleazy Pop Contest a Precious Moment in Music History !
One of the first videos I ever saw on UA-cam.
I love this version. It's modest and has a better essence to it. Celtic Women's version is far too grandiose. We deserved first place and the people who were moaning about us winning were just pissed off because not only were we the country to win the most in the 90's but we've won it seven times, the most times anyone has ever won it.
Ireland are the kings of Eurovision. You guys sure knew how to pick a winner back then!
i can't beleive that eurosong had ever worth songs...
very good
this vesion is better then another one on youtube she and the violin have a hard time to bring out the note at 1.00 with the word free. But in this version its simply beautiful. i know why it won and stilll think its better then most eurovision participents ever
probaply the best voice in the songcontest history
yes!
Lisa Kelly's voice along with her grace and beauty has captured this song. Her incredible cover sets the standard for every comparison...including Eimear.
alot of the celtic songs are combinations of old songs + new covers and english versions.. anyway personaly i think there is no doubt that the celtic womans have ones of the greatest voices the world will ever see
let it not be forgotten that on this performance Eimear Quinn was suffering from a cold and still sounding haunting!
One of our best songs ever - makes me proud to be irish but of course i'm always proud of that lol
Eimear has been doing choral singing since she was 4yrs & has been formally trained. She was with the celtic chamber quire anuna. brendan Graham who wrote this found her while singing in st patricks cath in Dublin. she needed to change the way she sings to perform this song so its not quite her element. She writes, sings & performs on several albums..you should hear her voice on "through the lens of a tear" its like heven.
@Referral123 im english . Hate to admit it this song is so Haunting. Excellent!
magnefic song
@thinkAboutEvolution Yes, I also remember Guildo Horn!
it is not just beatiful for ireland it is the best song ever in the universe
Uhm.. no. Look at Germany who won with Lena in 2010 ! It prooves that any country can still win with a sufficent strong song & performance.
Reason Ireland is placing so bad lately is because they never send these kind of new agey/folk masterpieces anymore.
back when the Eurovision was actually about music...
I hope she's the voice that will remain
i need to add morw detail.this song is awezome.i will ome back to this
I agree :) :)
wow...come on ireland...bring me your peace and my wounds they will heal!!
1995-1996 were chillout and folk years in Eurovision
so strange to see the irish eurosong contest not being held in the corner of a broom cupboard in a tv studio in RTE... DIFFERENT TIMES FOR SURE.
Damn, if I could choose, Ireland would just go with good old irish music.
It can be so awesome.
i heard this song by eimear quinn the first time on some CD and it sounded much better there.
she sounds a little hoarse here, maybe she had a cold or just a dry throat and had to fight to get any sound out of her at all.
she has a very beautiful voice, this song is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard and although this life performance may not have been her best, the song is still awesome and the CD recording is as well.
(i think it was something with baroque in it)
She is a very attractive lady. Her eyes hypnotize and her voice is like a butterfly. She is sweeter than honey. Why can't I find an angel like this?
She reminds me of Enya...beautiful..
I had only heard the celtic women version up until now. I've got to admit, this is very competitivecompared to that, and I don't know which one i'd choose. I think that the slightly lighter voice in this one makes it better.
eimear actually did have a cold on the night this was performed at the irish fonal but watch the final performance in oslo.
This is my favourite song ever, although I have to say I prefer the Celtic Woman's version of it. Still love this though!!
ur too right buddy
@pon3ccri
Ye me too as i stated originally. love the song but Riverdance blew everyone away that year. and thats why we won. not that the song could not have stood up alone but it didn't need to.
I love Lisa's version (from Celtic Woman)
@pon3ccri Yeah lol this was 1996 in Norway and Riverdance was 1994, but it was in the point not Millstreet, Millstreet was 1993 when 'In your eyes' won. :)
this is the best song in ireland!i thing so!
