Your lighting the stove technique makes the most sense of any I've seen on the interwebs. It's simple, unconvoluted and easy to follow. Great video, keep those cameras rolling!
LMFAO😂 typical Spackman comedy!!! I usually light up my dogs tail to light up my Woodstove. And the beauty is within a few weeks the hair on his tail grows back and I can do it all over again. Saves me time and money!!! 🤪
Great video my friend... After my wife and I just watched this, she ordered the stove for me.... woopwoop...👍 she owed me a Christmas gift and my winter camp is in two weeks. FYI though, a quick and easy fix to the wood and coals falling out is bend or weld up a "U" shaped peice of steel that will be inside across the door opening and goes back down both sides. That's my plan for the fix... I'll drop you a note if it works well... peace and be safe...D
Awesome hope you enjoy it as much as me. It does have teeth that are supposed to help with the coals but I feel they aren’t high enough. Thanks for watching
I’m going to use your fire starting method going forward😜 I think with the new stove you could load it from that new top plate so embers don’t fall out the front.
I have to agree loading from top keeping door closed and dumping ash pan. A coal catcher would be a great add-on. Constructed to last generations. Fun vid. Thanks.

@@AdventureswithSpackmann Talk about a burn count. Last week I was squirting some fire gel into the stove that still had flames to encourage a bit of wood to take off and the dang thing caught fire at the tip and then the tip blew off napalming my stove, the rug and my heat shield. Thought I was going to burn my tent down for a second. After realizing the rug was the only thing flammable I grabbed a towel and covered it up and put it out instantly. Didn’t even damage the rug. @@AdventureswithSpackmann Pretty much. And I have 3 dogs and the rug is covered in a thin layer of dog hair and dirt. Kinda protected it. I knew not vacuuming it would have a payoff eventually. 😄
Thanks buddy, looks like that one needs refined a bit. Most stove doors don't open that low. It could probably be improved with a grate or bar across the front.
Is it worth your money,or is this product just funny . Loved that. I do love the multiple windows. That's a great feature.Fantastic improvement for the latch being able to slide into for better ability to open and close the latch. I love how they gave the option of the removable lid. Having them figure out how they can improve the front so the logs don't fall out. Especially for the price. But overall looks like a great addition for any hot tent.
That was an ingenious tray you made. Great save on your floor with that piece that blasted out of the door. Happy Sunday! Just rocking out watching football and being lazy. Perfect kinda day. Cheers Chris
Yeah the tray works great! When I measured it, I was shocked how close it was to perfect. Happy Sunday bro! Enjoy the games. Cheers, thanks for watching
Awesome Review, Bro !!! Do you find the glass makes a big difference ? Is this the same size fire box as the Dweller without the glass ? I like the look with 3 panel's of glass for sure.
Absolutely I think the glass makes a big difference for heat. It’s like having an open fire so the metal isn’t just radiating heat. I think anyways. Thanks for watching
They could add a lip to the inside of the fire box right at the door. Makes it a little harder to get the ash out but I'd take that over burning my floor. Tray is perfect tho
Great vid as always bro! Absolutely loved your stove lighting technique there man 👍😉 haha! Now I know what I've been doing wrong... no blowtorch 🔥😲 Seriously... looks like an awesome stove man! Really diggin' the three windows. And your improvised DIY tray was wicked cool dude! 👍

for the ash trays for the ashes, goodwell, or any thrift store for the old trays , no sence to buy something new , just for ol ashes? i do recommended to place a sheet of 3/4" plywood nder the whole stove in its hot and in the floor of the tent, reason the legs of the stove are HOT as well as the whole stove, placing the plywood under is a neutral point for the heat to stop at the plywood. hot stoves are made for the old cabins where the grounds are on stone or on the dirt ground, . if placed in a home is till on some form of steel or wood for the base, ! i like the idea of the vent offset , for cooking on top, but on mine i made a S shape from the back insde the stove to the top making the top a FULL cooking top .
I’ve had wood catch fire under a stove so I’m not sure how safe that is. Please explain the S thing more, I’m not following.(I’m a little slow) thanks for watching
I was wondering when you was going to do a review on this stove been waiting to pull the plug on buying it lol only question is how long is the burn time on these and will it heat a 12x12 Kodak canvas lodge tent
Depending on how cold it is and how well your fire is doing, I believe it would heat it. During this video I’m in a very similar size and shape tent in single digit temps(F) and it was toasty. I forgot to mention burntimes. I’ve gotten at most 3-4 hours full of kiln dry hardwood. Normal dry hardwood rounds may be longer. Thanks for watching
Sweet stove. Nice coal catcher mod. Come on Pomoly include a tray. Spackmann could you please go over the lighting process again ? Was taking notes and ran out of paper 🤨
I’m not sure of the size but if you have the stove just measure the front and get the sheet that’s just about the same size. Make it from there. Thanks for watching
Another entertaining video! Do you think that the wood would stay in the fire box better if they had designed it to load from one of the ends? You don't see that issue on most stoves and I think that it's because they load longwise (made up word). You could still have the big windows and orient the stove the exact same way as you have it in the video, I think. And are the handles on top necessary? They look like they are limiting the space up there by not allowing a little overhang of your pots if you needed it. I think that hole in the top of the stove is a valuable asset to people that are familiar with cooking on wood stoves. I had a great aunt that did all of her cooking on a cast iron stove that had 4 holes in the top. I've read and seen videos that explain that those holes had a standardized sizing system (and I don't think that it's diameter), back in the day, and that the number that is cast on the bottom of say, a Lodge iron skillet, corresponds to a same sized hole on a stove. If you look at a Lodge skillet you'll see a ring on the bottom and the number represents the size of that ring and the ring will drop down into the correct sized hole on a stove top. A number 6 pot or skillet is meant to be used in the number 6 hole in the stove. I think the hole also allows you to feed wood directly under the pot that will be sitting there. As to why you'd cook with the hole cover plate removed, I don't have an answer, but it must be important on a cook stove because they all have the holes. It just seems like a place for smoke to escape from on a tiny tent stove.
That’s so cool. The numbers on cast iron corresponding to stove holes! I did not know that. I think you would have way less of an issue if it was loaded from the side. Going longwise(I’m not sure you’re right about that being made up, sounds right to me lol) would give the wood more space instead of the few inches wide the stove is. I believe on front loaders it’s very common for stuff to fall out. Most house wood stoves have a tray and teeth to catch falling debris. As for the handles, no, they aren’t necessary. Only used to transport as far as I can tell. And it comes with a bag, add some handles to the bag instead and problem solved. If I remember right, when they were designing it, it was so pots didn’t fall off, but my memory is no good lol. Thanks for watching
My memory isn't perfect either, so fact check me about those stove top holes before you pass on those "facts" LOL. Now that you mention it, fireplaces and wood stoves DO have a grate shaped like a cradle to maintain the coals in the hearth. That might be the solution that Pomoly needs to investigate. My question about the handles was geared towards whether they hold the sides in place somehow, or are they just bolted on, as an afterthought, up through the stove top.@@AdventureswithSpackmann
That firebox spill is a deal breaker for me. No way should the coals be able to fall out that easily, tray or not. Need to be able to add wood half asleep without worrying about pieces falling out and filling the tent with smoke.
