What are grants in dental school?

In short, grants are financial aid that professors are able to acquire in order to carry out research projects.
The research goes through a selection process, and when it is accepted by the university, there is a budget to carry it out. Many times, part of the budget can go to pay research assistants.
In this video, you will understand how an opportunity as a research assistant, with a salary paid by grants from the University of North Carolina, changed Dr. Leo's life, who left Brazil with his dental degree, and today has his own practice, and has published more than 25 international articles and written chapters in renowned books.

That's a great questions. Surprisingly, my e-mail was quite simple. I don't remember all the details, but if I was going to do it today, I would do something like: VERY SHORT introduction of myself, explain what you are looking for, and ask if they have some opportunity available. Keep in mind, these professors are receiving a ton of emails, you have to keep it short and to the point.

Besides grants, we also have fellowships and scholarships. The latter can be need-based or merit-base. In fact, there are plenty of options.
