    I wear a white tshirt under all of my shirts; it’s tucked into my pants. I avoid the second option of “plucking the shirt and lifting”. If I use this movement, I often grab the under shirt as along with the outer shirt, and since the undershirt is tucked into my pants, it creates and anchor preventing me from clearing the outer shirt out of the way. When Using your first option of “cupping” the bottom of the outer shirt, I avoid the above situation. Just my individual observation. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    You're right about filming yourself on your draws. You pick up on things that you're not thinking about in the moment. I noticed while filming myself practicing my draws that I would pull my shirt up and flick it down as I was drawing in order to get my support hand on the grip as quickly as possible, but not always allowing for the firearm to clear the holster with my dominant hand. So, practiced slowly allowing for clearance before going to my two handed grip.

    Your advice over the years is the reason that even if I turn off all the lights, and I am in a dark hallway I can still present my pistol and have my dot pop up right where it should be in the darkness.
    I know for some people it might seem goofy, but I live in a rural area where it gets very dark so I try to take that into consideration. Also I find that working in the dark takes away the ability to cheat, you either present it correctly and your dot shows up or you see nothing.

    I usually have a push dagger on the off hand side of my belt line. My shirt just snagged on it but was still able to pull it up enough to draw my pistol. Maybe I’ll relocate it by clipping the sheath on my belt behind me at the back.

    Hey mike question that I been wanting to ask. Do you believe in engaging in a physical fight. Like throwing punches and those old school fist fights. Or do you believe in just disengagement and walk away and if that doesn’t work use your gun?

    • @CarryTrainer
      @CarryTrainer  2 роки тому +1

      Do I believe in fighting? Sure, only if necessary.

    • @Timmy2Tough
      @Timmy2Tough 2 роки тому

      Escalate as necessary only when necessary. Use your hands first, if that doesn’t/can’t work go to OC spray, that doesn’t/can’t work go to your gun. If you’re fighting for retention over your gun, go to your fixed blade knife with your support hand retaining your strong hand on your gun/assailant. You never want to go immediately to your gun unless you know for a fact that’s the level of force needed to stop a threat. I’m a small guy, 5’5 115 lbs so I know more times than not I’m going to just skip the throwing hands part unfortunately, not because I don’t believe in “old school ways” but because realistically I know I could get myself extremely hurt and not have the chance to stop the threat because I wanted to not escalate correctly and if I’m engaging in a fight I’m only doing it to survive and I want every upper hand I can get.

    Grade A content. I have a question though. I use a wedge so my pistol is pushed all the way against my appendix without any room in the back. I’m not able to fully get my master grip. It’s a partial, but there’s still enough touch points for a steady shot. Should I spend more time trying to get my master grip or is this fine?

    I've noticed that your thumb is on the top of the gun, where I THOUGHT you had your thumb was behind the gun?

    • @musicman1eanda
      @musicman1eanda 2 роки тому +1

      The thumb moves back into place along the side of the pistol while pulling it out of the holster. Many people find the initial purchase of the gun to be more efficient putting the thumb along the rear of the slide at first. One reason is that it allows you to get your hand on the gun without having to dig your thumb down between your skin and the gun. In my own experience, that "claw grip" also helps me to get the gun in my hand in the correct orientation. Going for the full master grip right away makes me off axis a few degrees.

    Need to teach more skills to calm things down most people I know and have run into get more aggressive when they have a gun to try and out aggressive the person being aggressive towards them. Cause someone is talking shit to you does not mean you have to stand there or sit there and talk shit back. Move away leave them standing there shut you mouth and move out of the area of operation. Most people with guns are part bully themselves. That why they react back instead of leaving. 99 % of the time a civilian has the ability to move away. This training is good if they stop your moving away

  • @jsk8drummer
    @jsk8drummer 2 роки тому +2

    So much inefficiency and wasted movement here. A rather out dated approach to the draw from appendix. I suggest going to someone that is a true "pro" of appendix carry and practical shooting. Modern Samuari Project and Point 1 Tactics probably being the two best in the industry and they can back it up with measurable performance and the achievement of very high shooting standards.

    • @juanclaudio7935
      @juanclaudio7935 14 днів тому

      Dude your comments are inneficient and wasted tongue movement as well. lol All the guys you just mention would tell you the same, Mickey and Donovan have trained together as peers in Gabe White’s class. Everyone has a different way to teach stuff out there to the public some are more geared to Competition/performance and others for Self Defense. Even teaching someone brand new to shooting vs teaching someone experienced has different variables. For some people this is a welcomed instruction out here in you tube for free, also very safe for someone that is just learning. As people progress the ones that really want to learn will change/refine and adapt.

    • @jsk8drummer
      @jsk8drummer 13 днів тому

      @@juanclaudio7935 So if I attended someone's class with JJ Racaza "as peers" that means what exactly? Am I somehow equivalent in knowledge/skill to JJ just because we attended the same class once? Stupid take.
