Agree that bath right next to the bedroom is ideal. The dressing room could double as a reading room and/or study

That is what I was thinking as well-there could be nice seats or something.
At first I thought swapped, but that was before I saw the space. It might be just the camera angle but that seems like a relatively big room already for bathroom and you could do a lot with the dressing room then. It would probably be a good thing if there was a door connecting the dressing room and bathroom if there isn't one already.

When renovating, I would make sure that the toilet flush is not installed on the wall next to the bedroom. That way you can go to the toilet at night without disturbing anyone's sleep :)). At the same time, I agree with Anna's suggestion to use the larger room for the dressing area and the smaller room for the bathroom.

I think the bigger room should be a dressing room. In such a big house one needs a lot of closet space, not just for clothes. Plus I would love to see another jewel box of a bathroom with painted walls by the Chatelaine.

I think you're both right about having the smaller room as the bathroom. If you build a massive bathroom you may regret it later when you don't have enough room to store clothes, shoes etc. Think of where Phillip will need to store the clothes for yachting!

I love how you blended the music of the opera singer with assembling the tent, and then the pleasant surprise of actually seeing her sing and finally, the essence of the wedding. All and all, a very classy mashup. (I know y'all have a fancier word for tent but I'm having a brain fart and can't think what it is. Totally agree that the smaller room (while still quite large) will work beautifully for the bathroom and the larger room will be great for a dressing room and/or private space to get away when the house is full of guests. I would add some sound proofing so that you don’t hear guests and they don’t hear you, but then your Chateau may already have that sort of built in. I look forward to seeing what you do with the space, I’m sure it will be very grand.

I agree with Anna's layout for the rooms. Because the bathroom is so long you could even consider to keep a part of the partition wall next to the hallway and make two cubicles - one for the shower and one for the toilet. I personally don't think showers have to be too big - unless you shower together all the time. This way you could also add a door to the toilet cubicle later for privacy if needed.

If it were me, I'd make the larger room into a dressing room but have closed, full-length and full-height closets on two walls and have the center island on wheels. Then there remains the option to move the island and use the space as a private lounge/reading room/office/art studio. I could be biased only because a) I'm an introvert and b) I'm not the type who has loads of clothes and shoes to warrant such a large space.

I have a tiny en-suite by comparison, but big enough for the basics, bath, sink, loo and wet room style shower. If I had the space I would have much preferred a separate toilet cubicle! Also a sink with a bit of space either side and more storage space. I have an alcove in the shower which started out a good size but y the time the waterproof plaster and tiles were fitted it was far too small. I wished I’d thought more about the lighting too! Still love it though because it is all mine and I don’t have to share it with other half!! His n’hers bathrooms is the way to go

I think that middle room is large enough for a decent master bathroom. I agree with Anna about getting rid of the doorway into the hallway and having a double shower, freestanding bath and a double vanity. I would also try and put the toilet in a seperate room of it’s own.
The larger room I would turn into a very impressive dressing room, with a make up vanity under one window and a seating area under the other, with built in hanging/storage around the walls and a centre unit as well. I would leave the door to the hallway so you can take washing in/out without having to walk through the bathroom and bedroom.

Big dressing room, medium bath. You'd be amazed how little closet space one really has, so plan accordingly. We have a two sink w makeup vanity between sinks full wall mirror, double shower, w separate platform jacuzzi tub, with (we thought was large enough ,NOT) walk-in closet with "system" (weak will pull out of dry wall, so re-enforce with poles, we had to,) shelves for sweaters, jeans, between hanging his/hers rod sections, shoe racks under, two short rods sides; one for a man with shirts and trouser rods. So... a large rectangle room; dbl sinks w oak cabinets, toilet/bidet room on left, platform tub and double shower on right, with walk-in closet on short end. I'd double our closet as it's packed to gills w overflow in guest room closet. Love our Master Bath design though.

I agree with Anna on the sizing of bath and dressing room, also With that size of a dressing room, and a husband that only needs one cupboard, my input would be- put in a stacking washer/dryer unit to make your life just that much simpler!

If I had to choose one door, I would keep the hallway bathroom door, that way you’ve got more noise insulation and also easier access to the dressing room.
PS: The smaller room would still be a huge bathroom!!

I agree with Anna. Smaller bathroom, double sinks definitely! Large shower, regular tub, and large dressing room, or closet, as we call it here. Closet can be designed with custom built ins that suit your needs, drawers, shelves, and rails for hanging clothes. Good luck!😊

You need a workshop outside the Chateau. I think going to the attic to retrieve tools is going to become a problem very quickly. I have never heard of a workshop up (and down) three flights of stairs.

Even in a master bath, privacy is appreciated. Dressing room in between the bedroom and Big bathroom.

Also agree with Anna's plan. Depending on who's in the master over the years, a large walk-in closet can be pressed into service as a nursery also.

This is a straight-ahead and great plan for a large dressing room, with plenty of space for a very nice bathroom in the smaller area.
