- This is a review of cupcake makers. I made a regular box cake mix and cooked it three different ways. One set in the regular oven. The next set in a Holstein cupcake maker, which cost about $40 and the third in the George Foreman Evolve grill, which cost about $90. Each had its own good qualities and not so great qualities. This is my comparison. I could have filled them too full or not full enough, or cooked them too long. This is my first trial of doing a video.
I bought a "BabyCakes" cupcake maker and they come out just like oven baked. I've used this cupcake maker for breakfast treats cinnamon rolls, quiche, mini homemade corn dogs, pancakes, grilled egg cups. Just about anything can be baked in this appliance. It's not just for cupcakes. I bought item on Amazon couple years ago. Easy to use just plug in and in 7 minutes cupcake is done.

Very eye opening. I thought they might be slightly over-mixed and that is why they were a little more dense then they should be. I think my preference is still the oven even though it took the longest. Thank you for taking the time to do this review!

Lori, the top of the grill is removable on the George F. Evolve.
You shouldn't have had a mishap with your cupcakes.

There should be a domed upper plate as all other similar cupcake/muffin makers have, to allow for upward expansion, browning and shaping the curved cake top. The fact that one doesn't exist for this device tells me the company opted for the cheap way to sell a cupcake accessory.
She obviously is not a Experienced cake maker. By dumping the ingredients and allowing the stand mixer to over mix the cake batter like that will seriously piss off The gluten In the mix causing the cake to be Tough and chewy.

If you are going to put frosting on the cup cakes then it shouldn’t matter if the George Forman has grill marks on top.
yes besides the gf isnt really made to make everything like a oven , itts just an attachment , same as a toaster oven. its like emulating an oven , it works but its NOT a real oven

Does anyone know of a cupcake maker that does big top cupcakes. I don't like the way the cupcakes look when the top is level with the cupcake holder. I like the way the ones at Perkins etc. look. Thanks.
You can adjust the George grill to raise the top up higher

The second one would probably come out better if you'd lined them too.
Why u dont use the cup cake paper in the holstein machine
I wondered that too.....I always use liners to avoid a crust and I think the cakes retain more moisture as they cool.

Hi Lori, thanks for the heads up on the products. Nothing beats the oven for baking, right? I have the large GF grill (before the evo) and just made cinnamon rolls on it. Was looking for more dessert recepies and came across your video. Will check out your channel. Thanks again!
George Foreman grills have a number of cookbooks that I've collected, and they do contain dessert recipes. Try your library or online second hand bookstores to see the titles.
What concerns me is people guess instead of reading manual. So this was not a good review of the george forman grill.
