I love your videos so far. I only started watching you today, and its been very amusing and delightful to see you adjusting to life in England. And I'd like to welcome you back to your historic Ancestral home.
Regarding these idiots who are damaging this place please note there are way many more want to see Hopwood Hall renovated than it vandalized , keep up the good work.
I only came across these videos recently which bring back memories from over 50 years ago when the Hall was part of a teacher training college. Some of the rooms were then used as lecture rooms. Sad to see it in such a state. I will follow its restoration with interest.
Absolutely loving your unwavering enthusiasm for this beautiful house. Switching on the kettle was hilarious 😂. I hope the security lights and cameras help to stop anyone considering breaking in again. 🤞.
We drove past Hopwood Hall a couple of years ago for the first time after visiting relatives close by. I had never been there before, and realised that it was derelict. Looked it up once we got home, and was thrilled to see that you're renovating it. All the best to you - thank you so much for loving this place back to life!
Great to see you’ve brought it back into the future with Electricity etc.nd that the work is progressing well,It’s a shame some mindless idiots are hell bent on causing destruction to such a beautiful piece of history,Great video by the way 👍👍👍👍
WOW is all I can say about your undertaking. By looking at other videos on the internet, I thought Hopwood Hall was beyond repair, but I am glad it is not. It is a shame such great houses fall victim to vandals and into disrepair, but in a way, time is a vandal of its own. I wonder what a new roof would cost on Hopwood Hall..? Let me guess.., 2.0 million pounds? The cost of a small castle in the U.S.! You have your work cut out for you Hopwood, good luck! I am following your progress.
Thanks Mark! Haha yes a lot of work to do! Not sure on the cost of the roof but we will soon know lol. I really appreciate you commenting and your support! cheers
Just back from your great Manchester show. It was a brilliant idea to do a comedy show based on your experiences and my mum and I enjoyed it so much! :) You're helping me win her over to stand up comedy, which she's not previously been much of a fan of. Looking forward to checking out your videos and I hope one day to come and see Hopwood Hall restored and hear more about its history (I hope you will do things like that, as well as the arty events and artist retreats).
I jumped a little myself when you plugged the kettle in...that was kind of cruel...but funny! This was fun to watch. It's wonderful to know that this beautiful estate is being restored by the "fam". Kudos to you!
Love the video and the lights! Amazing! Shame about people breaking in and destroying things. Kudos and deep thanks for the work you are doing and organizing on Hopwood Hall. You're a rock star! I'm rounding up all the family I can to join the Friends of Hopwood Hall to help out from State-side. Thank you for preserving this ancestral heritage site and history from the Hopwood family. Keep the videos coming. I love to see the work progression. Wishing I could pack up and come help myself! Condolences to Ian too. Best wishes on the continued restorations.
Found your channel a few days ago, binged all your videos over the weekend and officially started following you yesterday. To my delight, I see a new video posted today just in time for me to watch on my lunch break! As an American Anglophile with a passion for history and preservation, I'm rooting so hard for you and Hopwood Hall!
You are doing a great thing ! and Yes it will make a great TV reality show much better than the bimbos trying to find love etc- this is a worthwhile project- now all you gotta do is write a screenplay for Owen Wilson- and start to get a Manc accent and drink lots more tea !! -There is so much you can do with Hopwood Hall- recording Studios, Movie sets, etc More please !
What an incredible task you have undertaken! I am looking forward to following you as you restore this gorgeous treasure. Do you have a timeframe of how long it will take?
Thanks Karen! We have A LOT to do so it will take years but hopefully we'll be able to get it open in sections. The first step is to get through the emergency works which are happening now and this summer then we'll have more information to be able to determine a timeframe for the rest of it.
@@HopwoodXIV Mid week the Bar was popular with almost 300 students on site - if a team won at sports they might even climb on the large fire mantle cheering and singing - on some Fridays and most Saturdays the Disco (nightclub sounds rather grand) usually ran and a regular coach from neighboring Sedgley Park ferried in the fairer sex (Twined college for ladies) - more than half the students were Irish so there were regular folk song nights with guest gigs- it was the height of the troubles in Northern Ireland so often evenings ended in emotional Irish rebellion singalongs - Some student union guys lived above the Bar and were known as"the Presidents Men" - Beer was 12p
Haha amazing memories! Glad to know all this. Thanks for sharing. Hard to believe beer was only 12p!! If you think of any more stories please let me know! cheers
Thanks Helen!!! Hopefully at some point in the future we'll be able to allow some tours again. Pls make sure to sign up for the email list at www.HopwoodHallEstate.co.uk so we can keep you posted- and you can also join the Friends group there too if you like. cheers
@@HopwoodXIV Thanks for the information, I've signed up for the News letter ,Do I just email for more information about becoming a member /friends of the hall xx
Hi Malc - we still have a lot to do before we are ready but hopefully we'll have at least part of the Hall open at some point in the not too distant future. cheers
I'm totally disgusted at the moronic behavior of some people taking pleasure is destroying property that they don't own, much less property of such antiquity. I truly hope they are caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!
A very nice video; you are working very hard; I see that. But while watching the videos I felt that you were showing a few too many fake accidents, and disasters, and oops and oahs that annoyed me several times. They interrupt the flow of the videos. Yesh Prabhu, Bushkill, Pennsylvania
Get rid of that apple product and switch to a Linux system. Bob scared you again. Is he always playing pranks on you? Looks good at night, kinda like getting old.

Ian certainly lights it up! I’d like him to light my life up with a topless calendar! That is one slab of hot man right there Ooft

Lol Leigh- sounds like you should be running Ian's fan club?!
shall we leave the calendar to Hopwood and Bob

Haha thanks Jimmy! But Bob will probably eat it all anyway
@@HopwoodXIV nothing new there haha
Lol
Before you fix the place up too much you really should make a funny haunted house movie. In sepia or black and white.
Thanks haha yes that would be fun
It's so sad seeing those irreplaceable items damaged by vandals like that mirror, it would have been amazing to see them
Thanks- yes I feel the same way every time I walk past them. I can't wait for the day we can have them all restored!
