I taught at a community college Film/Television/Media program for 23 years. The first day of class, to give my students a taste of reality, I almost exclusively showed them "Living in Oblivion." Sometimes I would alternate with "Lost in La Mancha." The first time I saw Living in Oblivion I was awestruck that it mimicked my aspirations (and heart breaks) of working in the industry. And I mean right down to my girlfriend dumping me in the middle of working on a film together. A perfect tribute to deferred payment, low budget filmmaking. All involved excelled. Navigate to IMDB, look up the film "Frozen Scream" and read my review titled, "Seen it, Horrors, I worked on it!" That was MY Living in Oblivion. I'd put the link here but I believe it would get deleted. THANK YOU, Thank You, thank you, for allowing me to go back and laugh at one of the worst period of my life. I will always treasure this film.
I am also a filmteacher, since 22 years. And today I am looking for a clip - again - from Living in Oblivion, the funniest film ever about making a film. I pick it up every 5 years.
One of the best films ever, satire is the hardest and Tom is a genius end of story! Every person I meet seems to want to make films for the wrong reasons they seem to think it’s all easy!
Of all the treasure you could find.. Here is greatness.
Love this movie. Love this Q&A!
What a great film and the fact that DiCillo gave Steve the creative space to come up with that incredibly funny rant is just perfect.

That imdb review is a terrific read! Maybe one of the worst set experiences that I’ve heard of
Saw this film yeeeeaaaars ago and it stuck with me big time. Indie films rule!!
This is the movie that made Steve Buscemi my favorite actor, and it’s still true all these years later.
