This is the first time i m 100% agreeing to you as this is so close to my own reality...always expecting in-laws without seeing our sacrifice in life..we did not go on any foreign trip , do not always travel in plane. Take trains to places less then 20 hrs journey but they have not traveled in trains also gone on a foreign trip.. As most of it we are financing ..moral of the story is no one feel the pinch if its not their own hard earned money getting spent even if its their own son's hard earned money..they are ready to splurge..

Finally he gave back after long time .Just to make him understand I asked him money and did the same to him kept pushing around the date . And Finally gave back the money asking one question how does it feel now. Best thing what u can do while saying no is “come I will take u for lunch it’s on me. But I don’t have money to lend u”

In my opinion before lending to anyone we should know about the person financial background and paying capacity of the particular individual bcz I believe lending money bridges the gap between the close relatives.
Just learnt this lesson... I gave money with respect but when asked to return, I was humilated and after a tough words I got the money...😭😭😭😭😭 People love money but don't know how to manage it.
1. Really enjoyed and agree to what you said from start to end about the complexities of financial txn with relatives and friends. 2. But, would also request you to cover good debt bad debt point. For example, someone starting a genuine business, someone using money to grow business and has history of being deciplined. 99% people whom i meet have very negative view towards loan, to a point it is considered a taboo and looked down upon. However, deciplined financial transactions for business (or say for assets rather than expenses) need some respect. Today person taking loan for business is made to feel like a begger. Might be clear that i am representing borrower community, and i can proudly say in 10 years with the delta (difference) in borrowing rate and business returns, we have provided steady cashflows for lenders while ourselves reaping benefit of capital gearing and lastly, due to trust from lenders have been able to grow business smoothly.
