It looks like I'm actually watching real footage of when Lincoln was assassination very realistic, and convincing.
Wtf then how is the cameraman take the video about john wilkes behind the door and pick pistol, the cameraman just like "yeah, kill abraham lincoln !!!"
2:29
@mermaid dream yup.
Totally agree. But there were probably a lot of real witnesses still around and relatively young to very accurately describe it.
Makes me wonder how the JFK assassination would have been portrayed had there not been the Zapruder film.
@@andrewcross8244 I don't know. But this feels accurate to the killing of Lincoln
So good that even people think this is real footage
I’m surprised😂Honestly, I was half-expecting this film to say that some black man assassinated Lincoln and framed John Wilkes Booth or something else that is utterly ridiculous, inaccurate, and racist.
At 1:41 Raoul Walsh was a great actor. Look at the hatred on his face.
Lillian Gish was so pretty here.
Still better than most hollywood blockbusters
Say what you will..that actress looks stunning
JASON KALANI agreed
Lillian Gish.
Yes, foxy.
Grandmother of Annabeth Gish (from Mystic Pizza.)
@@LAwithCB They weren't related.
Colin Boyd Music-Film Channel she was never married.
Bruh, she was a legend of early cinema
I have to admit, when I first saw this from a documentary , I thought this was actual footage. The documentary didn’t tell us this was from a movie. Imagine my disappointment.
There were no film in 1865.
Colin Montgomery There were some experiments on film at that time though.
@@cameronadkins2310 , absolutely, yes. But only in private scientific laboratories. And, of course, who would have thought to record the play in the dark theater?
Colin Montgomery Yeah. But I was also little at the time. 😂
bro this is 1915, 50 years after Lincoln's assassination. this would have been advanced film making for its time already
Lincoln looks like Nosferatu, it's really unsettling.
well considering how this movie took part in the "Lost Cause" revisionist movement it would make since that they made Lincoln look like a villain
Caleb Horton He looks worse now I'll bet.
Romero Rebelde Actually that couldn’t be further from the truth. While yes, this movie was made during the lost cause era and is incredibly racist, Lincoln wasn’t made to be a villain, far from it.
Thomas Dixon (writer of “The clansman” which this movie was based off of) wrote Lincoln as a hero because he considered him a southerner due to his Kentucky origins (you know despite the fact he spent most of his life in Illinois but whatever).
If you watch the film, DW Griffith seems to have a great deal of respect for Lincoln, the characters call him “the great heart” and when he dies they say “our best friend is dead, now what will we do?”
Thing is that Lincoln really didn't look his best after the war. Lincoln's presidency was possibly the most stressful, and really took a toll physically.
I mean Lincoln legit did look like that to some degree. If you have seen pictures of him
Perfect story-telling
One of the most interesting parts of the story for me is that some people in the audience that night thought Booth jumping from the box to the stage was part of the show.
It is the only accurate scene in the movie
Everything is accurate in this film
@@teal5989 Wow. The most racist film in Hollywood history, which glorified the Ku Klux Klan and led to its revival, is entirely accurate? Shame on you.
@@teal5989 💀
There are more accurate scenes like the surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. I can’t think of another.
Not at all.
Perfect
I should watch more silent films
Masterpiece
Bang!.... voice overheard.... "police up your brass and move back to the 25 yard firing line"... lmRao
I believe that's the wrong kind of gun Booth had a Philadelphia Derringer that just looks like a derringer
Booth's Derringer was smaller and had a short barrel. It, or a replica, is on display at Ford's Theatre museum.
The movie didn’t use guns from the time. At least the army guns are from the Spanish-American War.
The gun in the movie is a type often called a “muff pistol” looks like a double barrel
These are very common pistols, many were made in Belgium and are of indifferent quality
Look at the splice bump at 0:00.
It was Good Friday.
Raoul Walsh as Booth.
Best actor I’ve ever seen portray me.
Too bad that jackrabbit went through his windshield !
Even the most racist movie in all history admits the death of Lincoln was a disaster for the country. More than some racists today can admit.
What was Lincoln thinking? He's destroyed his nation, and his people.
@@futurei0oo woah I didn’t know Lincoln was a

Reb's asked union to leave FT.SUMTER! Then took it!
Correct! We fired the first shot?
