ok this dad is awsome...he played lax in college and supports his kids...my dad played frigging baseball and im playing high school lacrosse but i cant talk about it in my house because he gets mad about me quitting baseball. ik this has nothing to do with dyeing sticks but yeah...this dude rocks
thank you RedStar for what you have done for all lacrosse community, and for me. Your videos have taught me how to dye and string well. Hope you keep making more.
I'm just doing mine right now! It was a yellow base coat, put in some royal blue not thinking it would turn green for some reason but its looking great! Thanks! Can't wait to peel off that glue
That did not seem like 9 minutes. A good sign :) Thanks this really helped me learn about dying. I never knew about the hot glue method and how insane it would come out!
Dude, no sarcasm, yer a great dad. To do that for your son AND include your personality during the whole thing! #inspired. Off to dye my paintball mask!!! Thanks bro!!!
Thanks for the great video! I did it to my son's head. The glue was a PITA to get off. I had to keep puting it back in the freezer and when my fingernails hurt too bad, I used needle nose pliers for a while.
Dude, that looks so awesome. I wanna do that with my stick, but with my school colors, red and white. My Stx Power is already white so im thinking like red sploteges like you did.
I'm going to dye my head too, I just had a odd question. My new head is a warrior swarm x I'm not sure how flexible it is, will the hot water/freezer weaken the plastic? Also how deep does the dye go?
@tledin ok thanks man i appreciate it. I also have one more question i bought a dyed head from play it again sports store and the dye has kinda faded can I dye over it with a different color like grey?
if you dye it with the mesh and shooting strings and ect. in it, will they change color too so you don't have to take all of it out? thanks, and good video =)
Hey how long exactly does it take to dye the head including gluing the head and taking it off. Also, once I am done with the head, if i flex it, will that chip or mess up the head/dye? Thanks!
hey cool vid... i was wondering if i could die my blue stick with this method... i wanted to put hot glue on and then make it either lime green or red.. would either of them work??
followed your video for the fade and my first stick came out beautiful. tried to dye my second stick today but the store had no rit dye so the top color ended up not sticking because it had to be dyed for 45 minutes . i got it back to the under color and im going to try again with the rit but my problem is the last time the hot glue melted off. any advice
If I got like a plain gray shaft, is there a way to just dye the shaft? Like what would I use so it doesn't get sticky, I want it to be a nice polished finish.
Hey tledin I'm a 14 year old who is thinking about dyeing my head but my one question is are you able to dye a black head? If not any suggests that I should change the color to dye it ?
My son dyed his first head using the hot glue method. It turned out great, but we have had no luck since. The heads we have tried to dye have a shiny finish. Is that the problem?
I have an AV8 im just using as a project and had a question...my av8 is white, so could i like, dye it one color, then dye it AGAIN (using the hot glue method) and get a similar result?
so im sorry if this was answered, its late and i really don't wanna go through a ton of comments. but is the water at any temperature? was it boiling water, hot water, cold water? I have that same exact head and i really want to do something along the lines of this. Much appreciated
I have two questons the first is if it is okay to leave the ball stop on the head while dyeing and the second is if it is okay to dye a head a base color then tape up the head and dye it another color on top
If the water is too hot, and the glue melts, it will make that part of the head kind of smeary looking, but if the water isn't hot enough then the dye won't reach it's full potential color (like a black might come out purpleish). It can be kind of tricky. Best to try on an older head first to kind of figure out what works.
@tledin Hey, If I would like to dye a head thats already black a different color, do I have to first dye it in a type of primer or can i just not do it.
Hey Does it matter how long the ho glue is on the head Beacause i hothlued my head yesterday and im dyeing my head today???? Does it affect anything ?????????????
dude that is sick. I tried doing it with red and it looked pretty cool. I couldn't get the glue off though. I stuck it in the freezer and it didn't work either. what els should I do?
I would probably pinch first. Either way though, the re-boil could mess things up. Re-boiling a pinched head to dye could change the pinch you gave it, or, re-boiling a dyed head to pinch it could change the dye. I've never done it, but I would rather re-pinch than re-dye, so I would pinch first.
ok this dad is awsome...he played lax in college and supports his kids...my dad played frigging baseball and im playing high school lacrosse but i cant talk about it in my house because he gets mad about me quitting baseball. ik this has nothing to do with dyeing sticks but yeah...this dude rocks

I'm jealous of that head... That looked great!!!
lookin for a video to actually help you step by step is almost impossible to find. great video

Thanks Thomas Ledin! Just did this with my white Brine Clutch. Dyed it navy blue, it looks sweet. Thanks man
im fourteen years old and you are an awesome man
Thanks for the great video! I did it to my son's head. The glue was a PITA to get off. I had to keep puting it back in the freezer and when my fingernails hurt too bad, I used needle nose pliers for a while.
whoa!! I didn't expect the legend himself to responds back to me!!! cool, thanks.
i dont care what anyone says THAT IS FRESH. the green and black... steezy
Woah!! I love the colour of the stick after the dye!! I play girls lacrosse but I was thinking of giving this ago. Seems pretty cool!!
Chillest. Dad. Ever.
Thank you for all your hard work in your videos! I am using all of your tutorials and i love the results. Good day(:
you taught me how to dye so thank you
Dude, that looks so awesome. I wanna do that with my stick, but with my school colors, red and white. My Stx Power is already white so im thinking like red sploteges like you did.
I subscribe right now. Your amazing. Im new to lacrosse. I think im gonna fix up my friends stick for some money. Thanks man! Your the best!
thats the coolest thing ever!! but how hot should the water be?
Thank you! Love your vids by the way. Can you make a video for box lacrosse sticks?
alright and also is it necessary to add an extra coat or is that just overkill?
Thanks for the tutorial! I just died my first head today and it came out great!
oh yeah, is there a certain amount of water or anything that you put in with the dye or just as much as you need to dye your head?
I'm going to dye my head too, I just had a odd question. My new head is a warrior swarm x I'm not sure how flexible it is, will the hot water/freezer weaken the plastic? Also how deep does the dye go?
is that a wood shaft. and if so did you make it. on the first stick you showed
With the powder rit do you have to add anything or just throw it in the pot
O and also how warm does the water have to be and how long do you heat it for
@tledin ok thanks man i appreciate it. I also have one more question i bought a dyed head from play it again sports store and the dye has kinda faded can I dye over it with a different color like grey?
if you dye it with the mesh and shooting strings and ect. in it, will they change color too so you don't have to take all of it out? thanks, and good video =)
Crazy I remember this video when I just started lacrosse 10 years ago

What happens to the sponge at the bottom of the head?
thank you for the help I would juste like to no how much does the die cost and where could you bye it
Hey how long exactly does it take to dye the head including gluing the head and taking it off

How long do you leave the head submerged in dye for and what temperature is the water when you put the dye in?
Do you boil the water before you put the head and dye in? If so do you then put the pot back on the burner once the head and dye are in the pot?
Is the dye just normal like something you would dye t-shirts with? Or is it specific LAX dye?
If I don't have the dye yet, can I still put the hot glue on and wait a couple days until I get it or will that mess up the end result?
Do you have to use ritt dye or can u use any plastic dye
Awesome work tledin! Thank you for sharing your knowledge to the lax world!
Hey tledin I'm a 14 year old who is thinking about dyeing my head but my one question is are you able to dye a black head? If not any suggests that I should change the color to dye it ?
I dyed my white head red and it came out pink. i left it in for 24 hours.. Do u suggest me dying it again or spray paint it? my tryouts r tomorrow.
If I don't have the dye yet, can I still hot glue the head and wait a dye or two. Will that affect what it looks like when its done?
@tledin how long do you keep a lacrosse head in the pot for?
brine, it was on a fiddle stick i had. just wanted to see how it would turn out before i tried it with my actual one
I have 2 questions. How do you suggest to take of the hot glue and waht color sticks are possible to dye
how hot do you get the water and how long do you submerge it
thomas do you need to use rit dye cause i live in canada and cant find any rit dye
Hahaha I stopped lacrosse for baseball and y dad doesn't really support , this dude is so cool
Do you think this will also work if you used spray paint?
Never spray paint a lax head, it ruins the structural integrity of the head and it makes if brittle and weak
when you put the dye in the metal pot does it stain it and the sink when you pour it out
Do you let the glue dry before you put it in the die? And if so how long?
My son dyed his first head using the hot glue method. It turned out great, but we have had no luck since. The heads we have tried to dye have a shiny finish. Is that the problem?
do you have to take the ball stop off before you dye the head?

if your looking to dye a lacrosse head and pinch it... which would you suggest to do first?
do you know if u can dye the head if there is already spray paint all over it
if i have a head that is the same color as the one you are dying in this video and i dyed it orange would it work?
I have two questons the first is if it is okay to leave the ball stop on the head while dyeing and the second is if it is okay to dye a head a base color then tape up the head and dye it another color on top
once the head is died, and youre pulling off the glue, is it possible to scratch off the dye or is the dye really set in?
If the water is too hot, and the glue melts, it will make that part of the head kind of smeary looking, but if the water isn't hot enough then the dye won't reach it's full potential color (like a black might come out purpleish). It can be kind of tricky. Best to try on an older head first to kind of figure out what works.
Does it has to be hot glue or can it be regular clear glue frozen?
If I toke off my shooting strings could i just put the head and mesh in together?
How much is the dye and how long do u have to put in the pot for
If you have that pad at the bottom of the head, can you put it in the dye with the pad?
will rit powder dye work also please respond ASAP
is it safe to just drop the head to the bottom of the pot and leave it there or would that mess up the scoop?
what color did you use for that light green
@tledin Hey, If I would like to dye a head thats already black a different color, do I have to first dye it in a type of primer or can i just not do it.
How long do you keep it in the pot for?
what kind of dye did you use? is there like a lacrosse dye?
does it matter if you use the powder rit dye?
Hey I got a question can you dye a white head then glue and dye again please answer
can you dye the mesh with the same dye?
ok thanks, how would u get the chrome off??
Hey
Does it matter how long the ho glue is on the head
Beacause i hothlued my head yesterday and im dyeing my head today????
Does it affect anything
?????????????
@tledin my glue isnt coming off that easy, is there anything to make it come off easier
is the Brine Answer any good ?
Hey how long do I keep it in the dye?
Do you take the ballstop off before dyeing
Hey man, did he like the way it came out?
does the head have to be already a color to do the hot glue method
dude that is sick. I tried doing it with red and it looked pretty cool. I couldn't get the glue off though. I stuck it in the freezer and it didn't work either. what els should I do?
does it matter if i dye it to get my first color, then dye it again after i do the hot glue? and if not, how long do i let the first color dry for?
Can you do it with spray paint or do you have to use dye
what color is the head of ur younger sons head on his B stick and what die color did u use
thank you for showing me how to do this!
PS my dad has the same head you used in college.
wat dye would u use for red and black
How long do you have to leave the head in the water?
do you use all of the dye
if black is the base color can you die it like a neon green? like the base color of the stick you just dyed
How long do you keep it in the pot
what kind of dye do u use cuz i think theres certain kinds of dye ??
Can you dye the head with the mesh, or would that ruin the strings and mesh ?
I would probably pinch first. Either way though, the re-boil could mess things up. Re-boiling a pinched head to dye could change the pinch you gave it, or, re-boiling a dyed head to pinch it could change the dye. I've never done it, but I would rather re-pinch than re-dye, so I would pinch first.
does dye make the head warp more?
