That’s a nice color selection, especially the greens. I would probably try to squeeze a couple extra half pans in: quin rose, cobalt teal (for the glacial lakes around me), and perylene green (more green for the forests around the glacial lakes lol). And maybe PO 71 (Schmincke’s transparent orange).
Very beautiful and complete reviews. Given they include spade to add a couple more, I would probably add a warmer yellow, a cool gray, a cerulean blue, and a single pigment or ultramarine violet.
I almost got that palette in the watercolor sale Jacksons did back in February, at the end I just bought a lot of new pigments (for me) but it's definitely in my wish list Roman Szmal is so good
Wonderful review, I really liked hearing your thoughts on different colours! And your paintings are so nice! I'm obsessed with Roman Szmal since the brand came out... I think, around three years ago? They are just so satisfying and feel very special.
Hey there! Thanks a bunch for your awesome comment! I'm happy you enjoyed the review and my paintings. Roman Szmal paints do have that special touch, right? There are sooo many colors too!
It’s always great to see art supplies being used in an artwork, thank you. I have purchased some RS full pans and a five piece RS box set for a very reasonable price from Jackson’s. Caput mortum was in my five piece box set. I couldn’t believe how opaque it was. I haven’t used it yet but I do love the color.
how would this compare to a SCHMINCKE : HORADAM WATERCOLOUR PAINT set of 12 half pans? The schmincke is $30SGD more, so would it be better to save my money and just buy the Roman Szmal travel set?

Good choices. It definitely lack a turquoise.

Great suggestions!
While this was a product review (which I enjoyed), you also provided a lot of other information. Thanks very much.
This was very helpful

Hello zippy, there are a few sets with 12 half pans. You have the link?
New to the scene? He's been around for at least a decade now...
Pardon my ignorance. I only recently heard of this brand.😓
