Cracked tailbone, torn calf, 2 torn ankles, numerous dislocations, 3 rotator cuff tears, countless MCL/ACL sprains. All but 1 of those? I was a ballet dancer 😂 My son has had 3 concussions, 2 broken ankles, 3 broken fingers, UCL sprains & a UCL subluxation (means the elbow nerve pops out). All from baseball. Not ONE single football injury. Other than sitting at home playing chess everything has a risk/a price we pay when we get older 😎 might as well have fun 😎😎😎

The black-and-white footage at around 3:35 shows a face-mask penalty. There was a very brief period after the introduction of the mask when grabbing it was not illegal, I think, but that is extremely rare. And is most definitely a penalty Now.

These tackles are clean , no dirty hits or are fouls....we don't have red cards or cards of any kind to represent a penalty foul, the referees throw small "flags" to indicate a foul was committed during the play. But this kind of physicality is the game itself really.

Those were clips from a few Pee Wee aged games, some High School and College, and NFL games. With rule changes, a few of the hits shown are now illegal. But for the most part most of them are just damn good and well timed hits to either bring down the ball carrier or stop someone that is attempting to bring down the ball carrier. American football is a very physically demanding game and has many injuries, but not as many as you would think that come to life threatening status or immediate career ending ones as the technology continues to grow in designing proper gear they wear.
Some of these hits were illegal when they were filmed, some of them would be illegal now and some are just good solid hits. What people overlook when they say “Oh, they are all padded up it’s not that bad.” Is that because of the pads you can hit together harder before you get injured,so when you do get injured you are really injured. One of the first things they learn when playing is that there is a difference between hurt and injured. In every state that does football there will be at least one player fatality per year and an average of ten players who receive crippling or career ending injuries each year. Just to show how serious the NFL games are the average career for a player is only three years.

"People watch this?" - Friday nights are High School football; Saturdays are for College Football (traditionally); and Sundays are for Pro football. There are also scheduled Thursday night and Monday night Pro games and College now plays regularly on Thursday and Friday nights. Pro football teams play 17 regular season games and NCAA College have 12 regular season games. The number of high school games played each season varies WILDLY from state-to-state and sometimes from school district-to-school district. The season generally runs from August to End of January with the Bowl season for College occurring from Mid-December to late January and the Super Bowl for Pros occurring in early February.
What I'm trying to say here is, yes, we all watch it. Every damn one of us knows at least a little about football, even if we don't watch it religiously. My tiny little farming town of 400 people completely empties out to go watch the high school games when they're at home. And it's freakin' 8-Man football because there aren't enough kids in this school to field a whole team.

Soccer is long periods of tedious boredom interspersed with brief moments of excitement. That's probably why they riot alot. Because during the tedious boredom they drink a metric buttload waiting for the brief moment of excitement!

You play soccer because you're scared to play football. Soccer and rugby are gentle sports for people who don't want to get hit. You should stick with these sports rather than football. You probably have no idea how big these players are. A defensive lineman is around 6'8", weights 275lbs and can bench press over 500 lbs and run a 5 second 40 yard dash.

The rules have changed a ton but when i grew up playing defensive back you were taught to hit the wr as hard as you could as soon as they touched the ball if you couldnt make a play on the ball itself. Or even if you could. Makes em think twice about laying out for a catch every play after that. "If they reach up for a catch hit em in the gut so they wont reach as high next time." Of course the game has gotten away from that mindset to protect players health and im fine with that unlike other oldhead fans.

(Norm Van Brocklin I think) Also, in about 103 years of NFL football, there's only been 1 death on the field. Chuck Hughes of the Lions, in the 70s. A number of years ago (less than 10,) there was a lineman from the 49ers who died of a heart attack like minutes after a game, In 99 there was a linebacker from the Lions (Reggie Brown) who had his spine compressed and almost swallowed his tongue, he needed to be resuscitated on the field. and just a couple years ago there was a player for the Buffalo Bills who's heart was stunned, more or less, and he died on the field but was also resuscitated. He still plays, and was just involved in a highly visible injury to the QB for the Dolphins

Those were clips from a few Pee Wee aged games, some High School and College, and NFL games. With rule changes, a few of the hits shown are now illegal. But for the most part most of them are just damn good and well timed hits to either bring down the ball carrier or stop someone that is attempting to bring down the ball carrier. American football is a very physically demanding game and has many injuries, but not as many as you would think that come to life threatening status or immediate career ending ones as the technology continues to grow in designing proper gear they wear.

It is a sport but it's a contact sport. It's closer to boxing or MMA than soccer. And yes, people get seriously injured playing it.
Some of these hits were illegal when they were filmed, some of them would be illegal now and some are just good solid hits. What people overlook when they say “Oh, they are all padded up it’s not that bad.” Is that because of the pads you can hit together harder before you get injured,so when you do get injured you are really injured. One of the first things they learn when playing is that there is a difference between hurt and injured. In every state that does football there will be at least one player fatality per year and an average of ten players who receive crippling or career ending injuries each year. Just to show how serious the NFL games are the average career for a player is only three years.
My favorite part of these videos is reminding folks the title is inaccurate. A good part of these are also college and high school. So ages 13-18 (except the pewee kids which are likely around 6 years old).

These guys are feeling every bit of it. Take Ray Lewis for example, he hits at 1000 pounds and the pads only absorb 50% of it, so the guy still feel 500 pounds per square inch to the chest
It's a hard man's sport. They get paid tens of millions of dollars for this game.
Many of what was shown is now illegal and the penalty is called “targeting” and the player responsible is ejected from the game. This change was made a couple years ago to protect defenseless players.
