Great video! Verry nice and fun to see i am not the only one using a dumbell weight as a counter weight😂 I have the skywatcher P 200 /1000 and also needed some more counter weight. I hope you will enjoy your skywatcher a lot! Greetings From Holland👍🏽
I have a MN190 still needing first light (shoulder operation and sling for 6 weeks have delayed it). The flex in the focuser is a known issue which apparently is resolved by putting a thin metal shim in the draw tube at the opposite end to the locking screw. I will look at this solution myself mid November as I am going to a Starcamp in Northern England (Kielder) and taking my Atik460 mono and filters with my WOGT81 there first. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the advice, I will take a look at that solution! Today it's snowing so a good day to dissect the focuser! :) Speedy recovery for your shoulder!
I have a MN190 also, I have exactly the same focuser flex as you show, but my stars are sharper than you showed here. I’m gonna try the thin metal shim in the draw tube, thanks! Otherwise I love the scope, it’s fast and gives beautifully sharp images. I own many telescopes but this is the first one that natively gives flat sharp images. I’m done buying refractors/Newtonians that don’t work unless you put in optically sketchy coma correctors or field flatteners.
Hi! i have the same tube, and i dont have that focuser flex. I already check. Maybe there are some loose adjustment screws in yours. There are four, i believe screws on the side of the focusser that may have to be tighten. You should send an email to skywatcher directly and ask them about that flex. Its not normal. I do believe the focuser is not perfect, and the locking focuser travel screw does introduce some tilt. But i do use it with a dslr and it holds well during the night. Also i did change the plate with a wider losmandy, and put back the green vixen one on top to reduce tube flexture. On top on the green one you could piggyback the guide scope. That way it is in the center and the balance is easier. I have notice on this OTA, that the collimation is very important for the corrector to work well. I always check it before i put it on the mount, it has to be spot on!!. I also use this Eq6-r, and it handles it very well. Clear Skyes!!
Thank you! Yes, I will begin to take a look at different solutions to solve this. When I saw the result with only 45 min I got very excited to collect a couple of hours from a really dark place on this target!
That’s a very nice Whirlpool! Yes, that focuser isn’t up to snuff it seems. Always more to spend money on unfortunately. You’d think they’d supply an adequate focuser. Maybe you can tighten some screws on the focuser. Some can be adjusted.
Bra och intressant film. Jag är inne på att skaffa samma teleskop och undrar om du tycker att man ska satsa på att investera i en annan fokuserare redan från start (astrofoto DSO med filter drawer, OAG och EAF monterat)?
Hi, great video that data looks great for so few subs. I also own the skywatcher 190MN and it’s a great scope, I love it. I’m having the same issue as you with the focuser now I’ve upgraded to a bigger camera (asi2600). I’ve noticed in a few comments you’ve found a solution, I was hoping you could give me some detail on how you solved this? Thanks very much and clear skies, I’ll make sure to sub to your channel
Recently had the chance to buy one of these scopes but, I passed up on it. However there maybe another available to me shortly. So, 2 years on from making this video, are you still using this telescope often?
If you don’t want to spend the money on a new focuser then you could just buy an extension tube so that you would not have to pull out the focuser and so have less movement in the imaging train.
Tackar! 😀
I know it's been a year, but maybe you'll see this question. Of all the telescopes in the world, why did you pick the MN190? It seems to be such an esoteric choice, I'm very curious.
A year is nothing in relation to the distances in space! 😀Briefly; quite good focal length/price relation (if compared to a refractor), coma correction in the glass frontal lens, and overall a once piece for astrophotography. The down side is the focuser. With a decent focuser it would be really great. The weight could also be demanding when I bring it to remote locations.
@@NorthernPanorama hi with my reseller at start we thinked at the incorrect collimation but the first issue was the standard position of the focuser. When i received from assistance once again my newton i have check the collimation with a new italian collimator named Reego and then i had a perfect collimation on the primary mirror directly on the mount. When i sended the light frame at the Skywatcher italian importer, their assistance announce me that I have a tilting problem. I have zwo asi 294 mc pro attached at focuser with coma corrector and the total backfocus is 55 mm.
this scope is amazing! hello from Russia
Hello Russia 🇷🇺 yes agree, it's a great scope!
Very interesting video and beautiful result.
Thank you Tully!
I have the same one….very happy with it as it gives coma free stars right to the edge….great both on DSO and on the planets.
Late answer, but agree! Now I have used it a couple of more times and think I have solved the focuser issue. Great scope!
@@NorthernPanorama How did you solve the focuser issue?
Stunning result! Well done on first light.
I've just got the Sky Max 150 Maksutov telescope. Haven't even got it outside yet! Can hardly wait!
Those 45 minutes of data looks pretty darn good!
Yes, it was a little bit of a surprise! Will collect a lot more data on this this season! Great target!

😀Yeah it works great! No need to buy a dedicated counter weight! 😀

Cool music at the end 😁
Beautiful shot from a beautiful scope. Looks like a great winter for you this year! Congrats!
Thank you! Yes I'm very excited to see what this tube will deliver this winter!! Next time I think I will shoot with the mono!
Looks fantastic well done

Hi, late answer but I agree. I think I have solved the focuser issue. It's not perfect but I think I can live with it!
Nice to see you without ice on your mustache for once!
I look forward to follow you when you carry this equipment in to the mountains. 😃
I think that will be super content.

That's why I will hire a guide/carrier from the guide company Jokkmokkguiderna!! 😂
Very good to see such a good result after the short time. Hope you sort out the issue with the slight elongation.

Thanks! The scope would rate five stars if it were supplied with a good focuser. I will try some solutions to make it more stable.
Nice! I've looked at this scope but wasn't sure if my Atlas could handle it. Looking forward to seeing results!
I'm excited! When I have solved the issue with the elongated stars I think it will be very interesting to see the results!!

Bra video som vanligt. Hoppas ditt problem löser sig snabbt😉👏
Tackar! Ja jag ska försöka stabilisera fokuseraren. Jag misstänker att det är små rörelser i den orsakade av kamerans tyngd som orsakar problemet.
Love the video! Did you catch any auroras the last few days? I heard we had a solar flare?
Thank you! There were some great auroras in the beginning of the week, but I had some work to do so I was not out photographing.
Recently had the chance to buy one of these scopes but, I passed up on it. However there maybe another available to me shortly. So, 2 years on from making this video, are you still using this telescope often?

Did you have a heat strap around the front of the telescope?
Yes, a short one. It did not help. But last week I got a better heated dew shield and with that I didn't have any problems last weekend!

haha yeah it seems so. I saw the typo now! 😀Maybe it's my sommelier side that want to be reminded!
Its without question the shit focuser. Im subbed ! Grats on the scope.

Thank you! Yes, they should deliver a stable focuser for such a large scope!
Are this telescopes made in China ? if so why not say so ? " the stars exist to indicate where the finish line is " Chinese proverb
Ouch!! That focuser is pretty bad! How can SW sell an imaging telescope with such a bad focuser?? 😲😡
Agree, the tube is great but the focuser is pretty bad! It's not a really cheap tube so they supply it with a better focuser!
@@NorthernPanorama I was considering it. I'll look elsewhere now.
dear lord....use a soft towel before placing that scope on a hard top table, be gentle...it's not your wife you know
