And follow the directions on products. They exist for a reason. Not following them & then complaining that something doesn’t work is the user’s problem, not the product.
Not disagreeing with you, but the directions on Olaplex no.3 are vague. It says a minimum of 10 minutes, "longer if desired." And I know I took a quiz on their website last year that recommended 45 minutes. My mindset is that if a product is designed to work in 10 minutes and then be washed out, there's no reason to leave it on for 12+ hours, but it'd still be helpful if Olaplex would say 10-45 minutes or whatever instead of just "longer."
Obviously the side effects people are experiencing suck. But as soon as I heard about the lawsuit, it reminded me of the one against The Ordinary for their chemical exfoliant (can’t remember what it is rn). There was so much misinformation online about how to use the product and it seemed like that was a contributing factor. Seems like a similar situation with Olaplex. I’m sure there are people using it 100% correctly too who are experiencing issues though because people can have reactions to anything-we’re all so different!
it’s the ordinary aha/bha which works so well for most people esp all with not sensitive skin. but it clearly says on bottle “leave on for only 10 minutes”. people were sleeping with it, micro blading then putting it on which is horrible it’s a chemical exfoliant. then when they’re wanna be viral moment goes wrong they blame the company smh people are so annoying just follow the instructions people they are there for a reason 😑
I feel like people also use too much of it and too often since olaplex says you can’t overuse but I feel like that is just shady marketing since literally anything can make your hair fall out especially with a stronger concentrated treatment I feel like olaplex has some shady marketing but that people are also using it wrong
Ok the ordinary bha and aha is ok, what i hate about is that ppl don't know how to use it correctly, i apply once a week and just a light coat, while they do it on a daily basis like some kind of toner jesus fuck
Thank you for this!!! My friend put it in my hair after dying and bleaching my hair, making it stringy and melt off in my hands , and Olaplex turned my hair back into healthy normal hair. But he said leave it on for two days straight, after feeling and seeing the difference it made I bought it, and I’ve been leaving it in all day every day since. I’m gonna stop doing that. Thank you for this! The info you share and your videos are awesome, thanks a bunch!!! ❤
Olaplex saved my hair when I went to a professional and had it bleached to platinum and I ended up with gummy hair for over a year. I instantly lost about a third of my hair and had to cut off around 4-6” right away and continue to cut an inch every month for a year. And if I didn’t have Olaplex during this time wouldn’t have been able to hold onto the hair I had left. It’s what saved me from having to cut it all off.
I also slept with it and washed it out in the morning, shampoo and conditioner/mask and I always think longer is better but once I was in a hurry and left it for 30-35min max and had the best results ever and since then I only use it like that, I feel the overnight method kinda dried out my hair more… hope that helps P.S. I started using K18 last yr too and can’t decide what gives me better results, I hate that I can’t use a mask or a conditioner after K18, does anyone have any suggestions about that?
@@LollipoPSSToreyou CAN use a mask or whatever else after k18!!!!! abbey made another video about it, she emailed someone from the company and they confirmed this. i use a hair mask every time after i use it! you just have to wait 4 minutes after you apply and after that it’s already in your hair.
@@LollipoPSSTore How do you use K18? Bc I do it after washing my hair and I didn’t know you’re not allowed to use a hair mask or conditioner before K18? I haven’t experienced any problems doing but I’ll have to read the instructions again. I only know that you’re supposed to give your hair a break from it every 3-4 uses
Thank you for saying this. It’s also not good for the hair to be wet or damp that long. You will grow mold or mildew, not joking. As a pro stylist I can’t help but be reminded of how our instructors nailed into us “always read the manufacturer instructions for chemical products, and follow to a T!” This is most of what they test us on for our professional license. It shocks me when professionals make this very simple mistake.
Agreed that more is sometimes not more, and people should proceed with caution. However, the product label states: "leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes or more." The product label does not adequately warn consumers of any dangers associated with prolonged use past a certain time period when left on for "more" than 10 minutes.
I learned the key to the Olaplex 3 for my thin, rough, fragile, oily, tangle prone hair was 1) To follow directions. 2) Drench my hair in water and apply to this drenched hair. 3) Do not over apply, but coat it well the full length of hair, concentrating more on the most damaged areas. 4) KEEP HAIR WET during this process by wearing a PLASTIC shower cap. 5)Rinsing 6) shampoo as Normal with soaking wet hair, pour shampoo in palm Without rubbing hands together, db it on top of hair, then dab some on sides then crown and sides then underneath the hair moving up from the neckline up. Begin massaging into hair thoroughly entire scalp. For my fine oily hair, 2 washes a are a must). If hair has not been washed for several days, at least one of these two Is a good quality clarifying shampoo.) 7) rinse thoroughly 8) Briefly towel dry hair, then Condition ends of hair only. 9) wrap hair in towel or cap to deep Condition for at least 10 Minutes while Completing your shower for whole body. 10) rinse hair . 11) squeeze out excess water and pat dry with a towel ( not roughing it up). Wrap hair With a dry towel For 10 minutes to soften hair ends 12) Lightly spritz ends of hair only with salon quality leave in conditioner with about 6 or 7 spritz’s from about 12” away. I hold ends extended out side ways to flatten so that when I spritz it reaches the targeted areas with as few as possible sprays. So 3 Spritz to the right side Of hair lengths and vice versa to the left. 13) Only use a wet hair brush to minimize damage while Brushing damp hair. 14) if blow drying, apply a salon quality hair gel in small amount. When not using the Olaplex, I use steps 5 - 14. This sounds daunting at first, but after a few times you will remember all the steps and move quickly through them all. Try to wait 3-5 days to wash hair. Your hair will get used to longer times the more you do this.
Olaplex made my hair really beautiful and silky. My hair always looks the best after my No 3 mask. I use it 2 times a month and then Amika’s soulfood the other 2 times. My hair is so much healthier now!
Hey have you ever used Amika’s shampoo. Asking because I met a lady clearly in her mid 50’s or so with absolutely gorgeous hair. And she said she uses Amika. It also could be genetics because her hair was curled and styled beautifully. Medium length and sort of thick. However I have fine limp oily type hair and am bouncing around to find the best products. I thought I might try that brand for my hair type. I just for the first Time switched to IGK Extra Love and it did make my hair bouncier and fuller. Only the first time use so will see how it goes. TIA.
My hair loves Olaplex. The product took my damaged hair and repaired every strand. It prevented me from having to cut my hair completely off and start over. My hair is long and healthy. I will continue to use it per the instructions on the label. I am a strong supporter.
I do a very light first shampoo, towel dry then leave No. 3 on for an hour after application. I then rinse, shampoo, condition, and it's like my hair is brand new!
I know K18 is like the new end-all-be-all bond repair treatment that everyone wants and recommends, but honestly just using Olaplex No. 8 every 3 weeks has honestly given me such great results and it has lasted me so long compared to something like K18 which has a standard size of only 50ml.
I had reached out to them in the in the past about this, because I was wondering if it was safe to do, they told me you could leave it in longer than the time recommended on the bottle BUT not to leave it on for multiple hours, and that once it’s dry ITS NOT DOING ANYTHING ANYWAY, so I was a waste of time. I put mine in for like an hour, and keep it up in a shower cap to keep it from drying.
Remember Olaplex also stated the product reaches it max at 45 min BUT as long as the hair stays wet it’s actively Working! I think Olaplex has screwed up!!
Wife here… I have left the no. 3 on for hours at a time, BUT first I use the no. 0, saturate my hair, and let it sit for 10 min. then add the no. 3. The absolute KEY is to keep it wet under a plastic cap. I imagine letting it dry out is where the trouble comes in… I also only wash once a week, I know not doable for everyone. 😳 What I did do however, is spray perfume on my hair for years causing horrible damage. I feel SO dumb for not realizing how damaging that was. It did not occur to me perfume has alcohol in it! I am 61 and my hair is in the best condition it has EVER been in. A large part of that is using Olaplex, I have them all my favorite being no. 6 & 7 together, Amika the Cure shampoo and conditioner, Pureology leave-in conditioner, Redken Big Blow Out, and a new love, Matrix total results Miracle Creator leave-in conditioner a multi-taking hair product. This is to name a few… 🥰. Thank you Abbey and The Blow-Out Professor for saving my hair!
I had a allergic reaction to it. My head was so itchy and irritated. I couldn’t use it though I really tried. Though the nursing of my scalp back to health in between uses. Was definitely not worth the benefits. I am so glad That we now have other bond repairing options 🙌🏼
Olaplex saved my hair after an unfortunate bleaching accident and I have loved everything I’ve tried. I’ve been getting a steps 1&2 in salon with my highlights for like 6 years now, and I use 3, 7, and 9 are my favorites at home!
same here, I started using Olaplex no.3 after my first ever bleaching of my hair at a hair salon didnt go as i expected. Of course it didnt completely heal my already severely damaged hair but it really helped tremendously for about 8 months before i decided it chop it off. During htat 8 months it was a lifesaver!!
@@jenjenjen123jen olaplex just keeps the hair you have strong but growing it out and cutting out the damage is the only way it will feel the best. Damaged hair can improve a bit but will never be the same as virgin hair.
Exactly leaving anything on for too long can lead to hair problems like breaking and scalp issues although the stories of rashes and blisters could be allergies (I’m not a professional or anything don’t take my advice as 100% truth)
Used a clarifying shampoo, no conditioner, let hair dry. Applied Olaplex with a little water to dampen. Left on two hours. Washed with Kerastase Blonde Absolut twice, Blinde Absolute conditioner snd Loreal Elive Repair Mask under heat for 1hour, rinced with cold water and applied two pumps of Kerastase Huile (gold) and Aussie Miracle Leave In Conditioner spray. Hair dried very soft - day three: still clean & soft.
Funny I do same as you, clarifying shampo them apply #3, them shampoos and hair mask as usual even use Kerastade leave in. But never ever leave Olaplex #3 longer than 30 minutes
I remember the site mentioning that people use it as a curl cream and it’s completely safe to leave in as long as you want. So I don’t think it’s entirely a misuse issue.
Are you sure it wasn’t a different product on their site because in the past I asked about leaving it in and they said to wash it out after an hour or so, and it doesn’t do anything to curls.
@@taylorgayhart9497 absolutely sure! This was before they even released other products. It was just No. 3 back then aside from the in salon treatment. I checked the site now and it’s completely changed since then. Before they said you could leave it in as long as you want as well and now they’re kinda nudging you to wash it out after 20-30 minutes saying it stops working when it dries.
@@CelestaraConnect yeah when I reach out to them was years ago, back when I first started with it when it first launched, and I was told to wash it out, so that’s weird.
Love it, I use it once a week before showering. Then follow up with K18 post shower. The olaplex makes it easier to comb my hair out without using conditioner since you aren't supposed to use it with K18. My hair dresser even commented today on how healthy my felt. It's been a 3 year journey since my hair melted off with all over bleach. I also use the Living Proof treatment once a week after a deep conditioning. 🥰🙌
@@freethegays So far so good, I just started incorporating the olaplex again for the past 6 weeks or so. I do find it to be a good assist with the K18. I will be paying attention for sure 😉
You can condition after k18. It’s not a conditioner I use both olaplex and k18 too, and use both the same way you described. You can use a normal conditioner, but then you have to rinse it out and you rinse the k18 out with it. So I do a leave in instead. I have to use a light leave in conditioner to apply after k18 (wait the famous 4 mins - I wait 10) or it can feel really heavy. But I have fine hair, might not be a problem for you. Feels much better, I promise
I shampoo, then use Olaplex 3 for 10 min, then shampoo again, twice a week. While my favorite hair mask would fix my bleach damage in a couple months, this fixed it in half the time. Changed my hair game.
Olaplex #3 kinda makes my hair stretch it helped at one point but after that I didn't like it. I gave the shampoo away I don't like this line. K18 seems to work better on my aging graying fine curly textured hair it makes it feel thicker especially where the hair is healthiest roots to shoulders the ends hold up, but need a trim. Don't leave in things overnight like Olaplex it is going to hijack it.
Can you please show us the proper ways to use olaplex products? I use 3 and 6 on my dry hair for a couple hours before I get in the shower to wash...is this correct?
Yes! Use as directed. The site says you can leave it on for no more than 90 minutes. You MUST wash it out with shampoo, not just a rinse. I only use it once a week. And I have super damaged blond hair.
I have used Olaplex for about 3 years, and I love it! I highlight my hair every 3 months and this product has made my hair healthier. I use it 2-3 times a months for about 1/2 hour.
I have every single product in their line. I have the No. 3 but haven’t used it yet. I’m just concerned now on whether I should continue using this line. I love how soft my hair feels and I find the fragrance appealing but I’ve noticed a change in the thickness of my hair. I can feel and see more of my scalp now and wonder if my hair loss is due to this product line. I’ve had COVID once 🤞and heard that one of COVID’s side effects was hair loss in women and thought that was the culprit but now I wonder if it could be this product line. 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve seen a decline in their ratings and wondered why till I saw that many women were complaining about hair loss not just about the No. 3 product. BTW, I have virgin hair.
Love Olaplex. Used 4 &5 for about 2 years now, and used #3 very occasionally, typically when my hair is feeling very damaged. I either use it as per package instructions, or sleep with it in overnight (hairdresser’s recommendation).
I’m a fan of olaplex. I would be interested to see if the ingredients might react with other leave in treatments that were already on the hair and perhaps not shampoo’d out prior. I had one instance where I just wet my hair and put olaplex in and there was a funny smell…like it was reacting somehow to the leave in. Basically..think it’s best to shampoo first, leave in for hr, wash out, like it says 😁
I didn’t even use for that long. Used it once a week, left it on for 15 minutes, and I’m telling y’all, half of my hair was on the ground. It caused THAT much hairfall. I didn’t get as much hairfall when I used the number 4 and number 5, so it was number 3 that was causing it.
This could be why people experience breakage, but there is also some thing that people don’t want to admit, we are all different, what works for me may not work for someone else. So in a world of millions and millions of people yes you will find people that have a bad reaction to a product.
My previous hairdresser told me to use it as a condition after my hair was dyed blonde but I stopped going there because I was loosing lots of hair not sure if it was just the damage from being dyed or the olaplex but I didn’t go back and I’ve never used olaplex again (I still dye my hair)
The old bottles (before they came out with the entire line of like what 12 products now? Including a leave in treatment) literally that you can use a little bit after you shower on your end as like I’ll leave in styling thing. it used to be very multifunctional and now that they have like all these other products that you’re supposed to use with it now they say you need to wash it out after. Etc.
I loved Olaplex at first. But this last year I changed hairdresser I’m not sure what they did with the bleach but my breakage has been crazy. I went back to my trusty Olaplex never used more than twice a week (I don’t wash my hair more than twice a week), only left on for 10 minutes always set a timer and my hair got so much worse. The breakage now is awful and I’m dispairing what to do. I’ve used k18 too but had (before I went back to Olaplex) and had underwhelming results.
I over used it (number 3) and it ended up breaking my hair off all over the place and my hair turned to straw. My scalp is also very irritated and itchy. 😢
Im a hairdresser of 20 years, and IF used as 'directed' OlaPlex, is one of the ONLY products, Im aware of that can actually, protect, maintain, and especially REPAIR broken bonds, in the hair cuticle. Follow the instructions. Its simple!
What happens to my hair if I want to stop using the products when all damage appears to have been rectified and wish to try protective styles and natural haircare instead?
Use it only when my hair is bleached and per instructions, no more than once a week and use a VERY rich hydrating conditioner after shampooing. Result: healthier bleached hair. These bond products are relatively new science. Maybe leaving a moisture mask in for hours was beneficial, but everything doesn’t work the same way! Not everything needs a hack- the instructions work.
I used it as directed and had lots of hair breakage. I was rather devastated and bummed I had spent so much money on their products. Multiple employees at Sephora were raving about it so I thought it was a safe bet. I even bought a bunch for my mom as a gift. I felt duped. :( Maybe it's because my hair isn't color treated or overly damaged and it was a protein overload?
Sidenote: this might be just a coincidence but I feel like I see more with blonde hair raving about Olaplex. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong or it was only for bleached hair. But on their website, it says it is for all types of hair damage and my hair does have heat damage, just not chemical damage.
@@annmollica2077 I’ve used it for maintenance and to help combat the effects of using blow dryers. I use the dyson airwrap and heat protectant every time so I might not have as much heat damage as you. You were most likely overusing it and yes people with very damaged hair will see drastic results. Only use it once a month or every few months as needed. It’s helped keep my waves looking beautiful and healthy. Olaplex is just one product and won’t solve everything. You still have to keep a healthy diet, exercise, low stress, keep up with trims, healthy hair care routine & use products for your hair type to have healthy hair.
No need to use their entire line if you don't have processed/damaged hair. I use no 3. 1-2 times a month as maintenance and it makes my hair feel so amazing. No. 3 should stay on the hair for 20 mins, shampoo out thoroughly, and then condition well (all strands saturated mids-ends, and conditioner left on for a few mins at least). I have virgin hair with little damage.
Im so glad i did my research before using it because I had EVERY intention of leaving it in and going about my business. Its not a conditioner, its meant to restore and reconstruct the damaged follicles, sometimes less is more. Im still not sure exactly how it works as they just have it listed as some patented formula, so perhaps ill stick with the natural stuff from now on.
It isn’t safe for people to leave in any sort of mask treatment that is not labeled as a leave in treatment. I used to do that, leaving in treatments and masks overnight and I kept on getting a ridiculous amount of breakage. Then one day my stylist asked me if I do this and she explained that you’re not supposed to because first off the nutrients won’t penetrate your hair shaft after 30 minutes anyways and secondly your hair will absorb all of the moisture to the point that it decreases in elasticity and starts to break off. I stopped doing it and then my breakage decreased but the damage had been done so I started using Redken extreme and that pretty much stopped the breakage.
Not me reading this with my bleached hair while having a protein mask in for the last 5 hours bc my hair was breaking off at the root😭😭😭 wish I read this sooner lol
Once a week ONLY. NO MORE. Hair must be damped. Concentrate on those dry ends and in 3 months viola. If you do not need it then once a month. Only as long as they say to leave it on.
I recently bought no 4 and 5 followed the instructions and had significant hairfall from the roots. I used it twice and not going to use it again I ll just throw them in the trashcan and I gave alot of money!!
I used it properly aswell as the oil, number 6, shampoo, conditioner, mask and my hair is so thin, dry and crunchy, so many split ends. The only thing i was doing different was using olaplex. Same as many other ppl in the facebook group i'm in. One woman just used the shampoo and she has a big bald spot now so i guess i'm lucky that didn't happen.
I started using olaplex about two month ago without any other changes in my routine. I've been taking proper care of my hair for about 4 years now and they were absolutely healthy but I always wanted to try strong bond repair products so I started with olaplex (3,6,7).I put 3 on my hair after shampoo for about 30 min.after 2 weeks my hair strands started to look wrinkly ( I believe referring to it as a look similar to high porosity hair would be correct). It kept getting worse ,I never thought it might be cuased because of olaplex before this🤔does anyone have similar experience or any advice?
My ex roommate is a hairdresser and reccomended using no. 5 and no. 7 mixed together as a leave-in treatment and it has worked well for me. I've never tried no. 3 or any others but I guess it is important to read instructions thoroughly and if you aren't sure, get professional advice before using products on areas sensitive like hair and skin.
I use it with No.0 on clarified hair and let it sit for 90 mins, then rinse it out well with warm water and follow up with a Shea Moisture hair mask. I do this about once a month. My hair feels softer and healthier
i had severely damaged curly hqir. it wouldn’t curl in places and was frizzy, wouldn’t last more than a day or two if i was lucky. i started to use number 6 and my hair and wow. my hair has never looked better and looks incredible on day 4
I have hair passed my bum and it is processed .. I sleep with the hair perfector overnight and it is one of the reasons my hair is NOT fried. But that’s just me. Been doing it for years now.
I'm not sure if this stuff was made for black women but it works amazing on my daughter's 4c hair and I follow the directions explicitly. I had a feeling most people were just doing it wrong.
I used olaplex once a week for 20 minutes for an 8 month duration. I did shed a lot more hair than normal. As soon as I stopped using it, the amount of hair in the shower drain and on brushes reduced HUGELY. I have no health problems or deficiencies that would have caused the shedding. Definitely the product
I just use number 8 & 6. And I don’t use them often. My hair is color treated. It works for my hair. If your hair is already healthy, you don’t need it.
Wait, people use it as leave in product? That's gross, it doesn't sink in. People who do that and dare to leave the house must have some worlds of confidence
For me Olaplex never gave me good results. Not even K18. The only product that has been able to make a difference is the Dove bond repair mask. Literally changed my life.
I double wash my hair first, towel dry, apply Olaplex #3, put my hair in a . Leave in one hour, shampoo and condition. My hair looks and feels amazing! People with very damaged hair should not expect a miracle and then there's the money grabbers.
It’s not for all hair types and it needed to stay in salons for this exact reason. But money hungry they released it…..now all your profit and brand will never recover and you will go under. Tsk tsk
It’s definitely not for all hair types; I heard some people say the #5 is moisturizing to there hair, it made my hair so dry I had to use another conditioner afterwards to soften it!
Anyone have a leave in conditioner recommendations to replace. #6? I wanna take a short break to see if I notice a difference. But I use it every wash day with the oil.
Oh god I’ve left it in for almost a week. If it’s no longer on and I never do that again. Will my hair be ok. Ugggg. I’m using it because I basically bleached it twice I’ve done that many times before my hair is soooo thick. But two years ago. I basically had to start again. No we to think I’ve gone and done it again with something that was to heal the hair. Uggg. It’s not in it now. Only did it once and I did add a moisture protect too. Because I heard too much bond repair isn’t good your hair needs moisture too. Now I thought it was moisture but 🤷🏼♀️🤭
Came to find these type of videos. Used it last night for the first time ran out of hot water and could not rinse completely then shampoo but got most of it out lol . But anyways I woke up with a poison ivy like rash all over my neck when the product got wet and ran down the front of my neck while bending over shaving my leg, I got a super itchy reaction on the front of my neck but ignored it. Fast forward to this morning and I have a rash all over … very strange. But figured I’d share my experience too. ( I washed my hair first chance I got)
I leave the number 3 on for about 30 minutes once a month and it works fine for me. People need to start reading the directions or there will be consequences they will regret and then blame it on the company which is completely wrong
No , you don't put it on a dry hair , you shampoo , rinse , put your hair in a towel for 5-10 minutes and after you put Olaplex 3 on your hair , leave it 10-45 minutes maximum , never more , rinse and that's it
weird, weird, weird it happens when the company goes public... i wish they would not have gone viral in Tiktok and wish they would not have gone public... still i was using Olaplex way before tiktok and when people had longer than 60 sec span if you know what I mean. I am now usingi 1 and 2... and 6 and the mask... love them... 3 is really expansive for the good part. Anyway you can leave it on longer, but it only works when your hair is wet... so no point of using it as a curl cream. Slept with it many times. Saved my hair... never been that long and even hairdressers are like wow... of course cannot comment on the products i will not use (shampoo etc- waist of money), but things that are not just money crab have been working fine. If you have problems you are allergic or they changed there formula within few years. Never before was anyone complaining even in comments that it made their hair fall out... but then again we did not have k18 then which is even more expencive and is pushing hard to get double your money IMO...
People should really follow the instructions....unless you are a professional that really understands the formulations... I've seen sooo much dangerous stuff floating around the internet, bc people were using products wrong...for example, one guy micro needling The Ordinary peeling solution into his face 😮😮😮😮
Hi Abbey , a love your video about hair care and advice and i was wondering if you could do a video about Hidjab hair care since am a hidjabi Girl and actually i have a healthy hair But I want to have some Advice From you So thank you
Was so confused with Oleplex 3. I not only followed the directions...I watched professional vids on best way to use it. I have thick long hair. I used it as directed and my hair was even frizzier than before. I was shocked. I tried it a second time weeks later and the same thing. I only left it on for 20-25 mins tops the second time. ...not for me I guess.
I use olaplex 2, which I believe is stronger than 3. I use it every single time I was my hair. I leave it on overnight. My hair is beautiful from using it the wrong way and I’ve been doing this for years! Go figure.
I personally don’t use olaplex anymore cuz i prefer k18 and wella bond repairing but I use to really love it a few years ago when my hair was actually damaged. People just don’t know how to read the damn instructions anymore. They always wanna follow “hacks” they see online but those people did not create the product so they don’t know what they are advertising is safe to do or not. Makes me so mad
I’ve been using it for years. I’ve never had a problem. Slept with it in my hair a couple of times before.(rarely) My thought is couldn’t the people having problems with it be having some sort of an allergic reaction to it? It seems to me this could happen with any product.

Same and I sleep with mine
I also slept with it and washed it out in the morning, shampoo and conditioner/mask and I always think longer is better but once I was in a hurry and left it for 30-35min max and had the best results ever and since then I only use it like that, I feel the overnight method kinda dried out my hair more… hope that helps
Yeah maybe they should have a warning, but mainly people shouldn't be so damn stupid.
Exactly I sleep with mine and I have been sleeping with mine for years and it’s saved my hair
It will only work as long as hair r wet..if its left on nd hair r dried off then it will cause breakage nd make them brittle as per my understanding
I learned the key to the Olaplex 3 for my thin, rough, fragile, oily, tangle prone hair was
1) To follow directions. 2) Drench my hair in water and apply to this drenched hair. 3) Do not over apply, but coat it well the full length of hair, concentrating more on the most damaged areas. 4) KEEP HAIR WET during this process by wearing a PLASTIC shower cap. 5)Rinsing
6) shampoo as
Normal with soaking wet
hair, pour shampoo in palm
Without rubbing hands together, db it on top of hair, then dab some on sides then crown and sides then underneath the hair moving up from the neckline up. Begin massaging into hair thoroughly entire scalp. For my fine oily hair, 2 washes a are a must). If hair has not been washed for several days, at least one of these two
Is a good quality clarifying shampoo.) 7) rinse thoroughly 8) Briefly towel dry hair, then Condition ends of hair only. 9) wrap hair in towel or cap to deep
Condition for at least 10
Minutes while
Completing your shower for whole body. 10) rinse hair . 11) squeeze out excess water and pat dry with a towel ( not roughing it up). Wrap hair
With a dry towel
For 10 minutes to soften hair ends 12) Lightly spritz ends of
hair only with salon quality leave in conditioner with about 6 or 7 spritz’s from about 12”
away. I hold ends extended out
side ways to flatten so that when I spritz it reaches the targeted areas with as few as possible sprays. So 3
Spritz to the right side
Of hair lengths and vice versa to the left. 13) Only use a wet hair brush to minimize damage while
Brushing damp hair. 14) if blow drying, apply a salon quality hair gel in small amount. When not
using the Olaplex, I use steps 5 - 14.
This sounds daunting at first, but after a few times you will remember all the steps
and move quickly through them all. Try to wait 3-5 days to wash hair. Your hair will get used to longer times the more you do this.
Awe ty , I have very fine thin fragile baby baby baby hair!!!
I copied your text to save. 😊
This is exactly what I followed today with my first olaplex use.
Thank you for that
Olaplex made my hair really beautiful and silky. My hair always looks the best after my No 3 mask. I use it 2 times a month and then Amika’s soulfood the other 2 times. My hair is so much healthier now!
Nr 7 really helped me!
I just for the first
Time switched to
IGK Extra Love and it did make my hair bouncier and fuller. Only the first time use so will see how it goes. TIA.
@tinapack no I just use drugstore shampoo. Usually T SAL or Head n Shoulders. They both work great for under $10.
Great Products in Wrong hands!!!
Since I use Olaplex my hair looks and smells AMAZING 💆🏼♀️
@@lovelite6737 This, we need to stop blaming consumers for bad marketing
Wife here… I have left the no. 3 on for hours at a time, BUT first I use the no. 0, saturate my hair, and let it sit for 10 min. then add the no. 3. The absolute KEY is to keep it wet under a plastic cap. I imagine letting it dry out is where the trouble comes in… I also only wash once a week, I know not doable for everyone. 😳
What I did do however, is spray perfume on my hair for years causing horrible damage.
I am so glad
That we now have other bond repairing options 🙌🏼
Love Olaplex. It did wonders for my hair. I would leave it on an hour or two but no more.
Is it good to apply it on unwashed hair
@SK It's recommended to use on clean, washed hair but I've done it both ways, and it's worked fine either way
Exactly leaving anything on for too long can lead to hair problems like breaking and scalp issues although the stories of rashes and blisters could be allergies (I’m not a professional or anything don’t take my advice as 100% truth)
I feel like both are a little in the wrong olaplex for not being clear enough and the customers for using it wrongly
It has worked great for me. I use it 1x week and leave it on for a couple of hours at the most. Along with n°8 it has improved my hair so so much
Love it, I use it once a week before showering. 🥰🙌
That is a lot of bond repair tho! I would be worried that it's too much, personally
@@freethegays So far so good, I just started incorporating the olaplex again for the past 6 weeks or so. I do find it to be a good assist with the K18. I will be paying attention for sure 😉
You can condition after k18. It’s not a conditioner
I use both olaplex and k18 too, and use both the same way you described.
What hair mask do you use?
Please make a video on minimalist bond repair products.
Have you read the label? I just did, it says leave on for 10 mins, longer if needed with no warnings regarding prolonged time
Can you please show us the proper ways to use olaplex products? I use 3 and 6 on my dry hair for a couple hours before I get in the shower to wash...is this correct?
Provoke bond repair for blonde hair can be left in.
It says overnight but it does need washing away at some point.
Guilty of this! But do you still recommend using it after shampooing, and then rinsing after 10 mins, or should it be applied before shampoo?
Can olaplex no. 3 really repair extremely heat damaged weak hair?
Yes! Use as directed. The site says you can leave it on for no more than 90 minutes. You MUST wash it out with shampoo, not just a rinse. I only use it once a week. And I have super damaged blond hair.
Leave it for 10 to 30 minutes. That's enough.
Exactly! Thank you!
I have used Olaplex for about 3 years, and I love it! I highlight my hair every 3 months and this product has made my hair healthier. I use it 2-3 times a months for about 1/2 hour.
Never left it on for longer than 30 minutes. I could imagine the coating hardening on top of wet hair could be damaging...
It doesn't harden when wet.
I use my Oleplex every 10 days as directed. It has saved my hair! Stuff works when uses as directed
😢
I generally spend an hour with such products. could it be bad for the hair or is it safe?
Love #3 and the oil ❤ cannot say anything bad about Olaplex!!!!!!
If I'm using shampoo once a week , which shampoo I should buy , BTW I'm having low porosity and dry type
Do you use henna? I have a similar color to you and I feel Olaplex isn't as good for my hair
I have bleached hair and only shed a lot of hair when using olaplex. When I stopped using it, the shedding stopped. I do not use hot tools
It literally says on the bottle leave on for longer if desired. No max time stated.
Once a week ONLY. NO MORE. Hair must be damped. Concentrate on those dry ends and in 3 months viola. If you do not need it then once a month. Only as long as they say to leave it on.
I leave it on my hair overnight for more than 1 year, and it doesn't break my hair.❤😊
If your hair is healthy and ha healthy bonds. Bond repair isn't needed and can have the opposite effect
Is bond repair oil safe?
Also any side effects?
I have non coloured hair I just straighten my hair not regularly though.
Yes u can not leave this in! I learned the hard way. Wash it out. It works great!
I use it during a workout session then rinse it out during my shower . It’s my little treat
Same here! Might as well get it on there while doing some productive!
Same!
Is using the shampoo and conditioner 2 times a week okay to do?
I used the number three one as a treatment for my hair but only on the ends to style them. I haven’t experienced any breakage
I just use number 8 & 6. And I don’t use them often. My hair is color treated. It works for my hair. If your hair is already healthy, you don’t need it.
That’s why it’s so important to look at how you’re supposed to actually use the product and not follow trends
First of all You have to apply it on clean hair ……. Just like any bond treatment ….. also don’t use dove products on your hair :)
I've only ever used Olaplex nr 7 (the oil) because I was super afraid to overdo it with nr 3 but I tend to follow directions on the packaging
Exactly bad marketing
Anyone have a leave in conditioner recommendations to replace. #6? I wanna take a short break to see if I notice a difference. But I use it every wash day with the oil.
She recommends Pureology
Oh god I’ve left it in for almost a week. If it’s no longer on and I never do that again. Will my hair be ok. Ugggg. I’m using it because I basically bleached it twice I’ve done that many times before my hair is soooo thick. But two years ago. I basically had to start again. No we to think I’ve gone and done it again with something that was to heal the hair. Uggg. It’s not in it now. Only did it once and I did add a moisture protect too. Because I heard too much bond repair isn’t good your hair needs moisture too. Now I thought it was moisture but 🤷🏼♀️🤭
I lightly wet hair then use a a dab of this mixed with the oil it covers grays but because my hair gets wet regularly I don't do this daily
Hence the lawsuits 🤦🏾♀️
Came to find these type of videos. Used it last night for the first time ran out of hot water and could not rinse completely then shampoo but got most of it out lol . But anyways I woke up with a poison ivy like rash all over my neck when the product got wet and ran down the front of my neck while bending over shaving my leg, I got a super itchy reaction on the front of my neck but ignored it. Fast forward to this morning and I have a rash all over … very strange. But figured I’d share my experience too. ( I washed my hair first chance I got)
its like ppl thinking its good to leave in rinse out regular conditioner and then wonder why their hair is over moisturized or mushy
Same thing happened to me. Left on for as long as I could during the day but not overnight and left my hair super dry and frizzy
I leave the number 3 on for about 30 minutes once a month and it works fine for me. People need to start reading the directions or there will be consequences they will regret and then blame it on the company which is completely wrong
No , you don't put it on a dry hair , you shampoo , rinse , put your hair in a towel for 5-10 minutes and after you put Olaplex 3 on your hair , leave it 10-45 minutes maximum , never more , rinse and that's it
I changed all together and started k18 three pumps and my hair is like silk
I get best results when I use olaplex after washing my hair.
I used 0 with the 3 major hair breakage 8 inches cut off I couldn’t even comb my hair
weird, weird, weird it happens when the company goes public... i wish they would not have gone viral in Tiktok and wish they would not have gone public... still i was using Olaplex way before tiktok and when people had longer than 60 sec span if you know what I mean.
It says on their website it is okay to leave in your hair. Ive done it so many times. Have it in right now and.sleeping with it
People should really follow the instructions....unless you are a professional that really understands the formulations... I've seen sooo much dangerous stuff floating around the internet, bc people were using products wrong...for example, one guy micro needling The Ordinary peeling solution into his face 😮😮😮😮
Hated it… made my coarse thick hair feel like straw.😮
Hi Abbey , a love your video about hair care and advice and i was wondering if you could do a video about Hidjab hair care since am a hidjabi Girl and actually i have a healthy hair But I want to have some Advice From you So thank you
Was so confused with Oleplex 3. I not only followed the directions...I watched professional vids on best way to use it. I have thick long hair. I used it as directed and my hair was even frizzier than before. I was shocked. I tried it a second time weeks later and the same thing. I only left it on for 20-25 mins tops the second time. ...not for me I guess.
I have only one question. Why would it cause breakage? Isn’t it’s purpose to repair and strengthen the bond?
I use olaplex 2, which I believe is stronger than 3. I use it every single time I was my hair. I leave it on overnight. My hair is beautiful from using it the wrong way and I’ve been doing this for years! Go figure.
I used no3, shampoo and conditioner for a few months and my hair is in much better condition than it was before which is lucky!
TOTALLY off topic but I would love to see your review of IGK Antisocial Overnight Hair Mask
I’ve been using it for years. I’ve never had a problem. Slept with it in my hair a couple of times before.(rarely) My thought is couldn’t the people having problems with it be having some sort of an allergic reaction to it? It seems to me this could happen with any product.
