- The S8 is Audi's largest sedan that they produce. This 2023 performance sedan has 4-wheel steering, 21in wheels and massive brakes. Under the hood is a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 producing 563HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2023 Audi S8 the new KING of performance luxury sedans?

The Transporter preferred the W12 engine version. Currently living out its last days in the Bentley and cranking out 650hp
And don’t forget guys… when you open the door to get in, the whole car tilts to make ingress easier. It also does the same thing if it detects a side impact to protect the passengers. That’s just a small portion of the tech in the S8.

Mercedes did it 2nd ! Audi did this with the S8 in 2020 along with Lexus. Audi also came up with the S8 in 1997. It took until 2001 for Mercedes to come up with the AMG S class and 2004 for BMW to devise the Albina B7.
Dream car for me! Recently picked up a used 2018 B9 S4 with 20k miles and Audi sure knows how to make a great vehicle, it makes me smile everyday. Great video, Joe!

Bought one last month coming from a 2019 MB S63. Fully loaded with the predictive suspension. Only thing I miss about the S63 so far is the active bolster seats and the ceramic brakes. Other then that, the comfort, the handling, the ride in general is significantly better. I was nervous at first (my last Audi was a 2017 RS7) but couldn’t be happier being back in the Audi fold with this car!
Wow that says something to go from a S Class AMG to this. I’m currently in a A6 not sure if I would go higher luxury with a Benz or do something like this.

If you're in UK you thought about the S6 Avant TDI. 34mpg 74 lb-ft torque less than the S8s 590 lb - ft. With a tune you would be well in the 600s, crazy pulling power from low revs.
Like a person from my job said, the S8 is pretty much an R8 that you can fit your family in!
Imagine if they made an rs8 with even more power. I know this will never happen but this s8 is a gorgeous and fast beast still
It would be the same engine and components just tuned differently. Cost difference would be astronomical for what you get. Just stage 3 the s8 and you’re there

I love the Audi S8 you know you've worked hard in life when you're driving the Mega Apostle to the Performance luxury Sedans I think the only thing it needs is a refrigerator for rear seat passengers.

so much gloss black. when are these car manufactures going to learn it looks terrible in about 7 days of ownership. scratches, fingerprints. its so cheap looking on a car of this price
Well you can get a ppf film that protects the gloss black from scratches, smudges, and finger prints. And it looks great
Best thing about this car is that its somewhat of a sleeper, until you wake it up
As an owner of this exact spec (minus the color) i agree with Raiti on most of this. Car is fantastic and does all things well. Exhaust is too quiet though. I swapped for bigger down pipes and added just enough to be very satisfying. Overall this car sleeps on everybody then blows their doors off

I love this S8..but...but..I like the old school body,2017-2019 S8 plus ,604 hp with the Bang and Olfsen metal plate speakers 🔊 and the tweeters rise and the leather quilted seats..but the redesign is cost cutting but better..thanks Joe and Steven for this exciting segment..on throttle!!!!😀

Exterior is meh.
The 8 series hasn’t really had that wow factor like the C5 A6 4.2 V8 or RS6 sedan or perhaps the RS7.
Mechanics, electronics and luxury sure, that’s all fine and good.
But to me, it does not evoke the same emotion with every passing gaze like the C5 of old…
To each their own, I suppose.

The BMW feels like a rival to a Bentley or a Maybach... the Audi looks like a big VW with some luxury. Audi needs to launch a new gen Audi A8 soon.

Joe, I agree w. you on the front end. They always have to throw a fly into the soup. Exhaust tips: silver stands out more. A bit overpriced? A touch too long for a performance car? Audi builds awesome cars 👍👍👍. My choice after Porsche.

Black matte or satin chrome exhaust tips would be 'the business'.
It would be my choice for sure over the other 2 German auto makers. Not a big fan of the black out addition but love the performance. I have VW and hate that gloss black. I wish there where stick on covers like fake wood or something to cover that trash up. Good review as always Joe, thanks for the dream of a new car.

Nice review Joe! You zonked the headliners color, but I’ve read they do this so it’s not so dark and claustrophobic. More of a open and airy feeling. I’m with you though darken that thing up.

Joe, you complained a little too much. I love everything about the S8. It's 🔥. I was planning on getting an AMG S63. But the S8, is what's up. But keep up the great work 👏.
Love this channel, love this CAR! Actually came close to buying an A8, not the S. Here's my take: GM/Chevy went all in with the C8; charging 6figures based on name and tradition....and it's paying off big time. Why not go all in @Caddy? Make a CT-8 super sedan. They have the tech (see C8) and the engineers to make a world class luxury performance sedan to COMPETE with the German big 3. They make enough profit with their trucks and SUVs to make this move. Look at what they've already done with the Lyriq! C'mon GM, you've been threatening to go global for a qtr century...Let's Go!

Although I didn't buy one, I did check it out...great car, but not ENOUGH competition for WORLD CLASS consideration. S Class, BMW 7 series...Audi S8....are harassing the Bentleys and Rolls of the world. Mine was a suggestion and last I checked, this was an open forum....no need for you to be such a butt. Be safe.

You mentioned the 21 in wheels were optional. Those tires are probably good for 10K miles max and the wheels would not last in a real life pothole infested road environment. What are the standard wheel size?

I used to want an S8 since I was 15, I’m 24 now and I just feel like this car is not worth it. I feel like car has been under powered for years and for 130,000 why not just get a an AMG that’s faster and has a better interior? I just feel like the S8 has been the same kinda boring car and this coming from someone who has wanted one for 10 years and know everything about the Audi S8
Ive driven a v10 and earlier gen 4.0 twin turbo, nothing like a big sports sedan... audi hits the sweet spot between luxury amd sport.
Congratulations sir, you are the first UA-camr to review my three favorite Audi models (S8 sedan, R8 spyder, RSQ8 SUV). I can imagine all three cars belonging to serious buyers since they all do their own thing (daily driver, hauler, fun car) incredibly well. My only zonk is I wish Audi offered more color choices for the interior/exterior like what BMW does, a zonk that I give Mercedes as well. Heck I have seen MB change specs mid model year on the NEW SL and remove color options - not good for buyers who want a special look and are willing to spend $200K+ for it.
It's not too hard to find a shop that will do custom wraps and paint colors, same with outfits that will do trim kits. But if I am going that far after already spending $150K-200K I would probably consider a Bentley, and enjoy that one-of-a-kind W12 they offer instead. At the end of the day, for the price Audi is charging for these three cars in their top spec, I really cannot complain.

Yes, my Audi S8 2022 can dance with the best of them. She is a sexy BEAST! I hear the legendary Purple King, Prince singing, "Do me baby", as she leaves the other cars behind, and she is not even (Smoking)!!!! Gotta love it...etc.. She's smooth, and I love her twins. She can be so low and dynamic that you get a head rush because sometimes she likes it fast and stiff, with the edge on flexibility.

Hey John ! I mean Joe. 😂 This review was dope. Audi is one of my favorite auto makers along with Lexus & Landover. I remember I used to work for Dr. OZ he had one of these Audi's and let me tell you. This is a very fancy and fast car. The ride is smooth and the seats suck you in. The whole ambiance of the vehicle just makes you feel important at least that's how it made me feel while I was in it.
Joe I have a request / suggestion. During your on throttle scenes. Can we get a wide view of the dashboard while you're driving along with showing your facial shots ? Also can you do a 0 to 60 test ?

Big Zonk for me is the heating control for the rear on the armrest. Just took a family road trip to your lovely state and we had three toddlers car seat in the center with adults on both sides in my A6. With this setup they wouldn’t be able to control the heat or heated seats.
