There’s sometimes, but I just don’t feel you can get a good look at an area in standard view mode, and as much as I dislike that fisheye lens view, it just feels like I need to do it as a quick service

Great video, very helpful. I was looking at the Winnebago Hike 100 website (not the FLX version), under the Electrical tab and it reads "Inverter Prep." I wonder what that means, is there an easy way to add an inverter DIY?
Josh tell the W people they need door size, floor space specs etc. I had to find an owner to get that info. I do wish they went 18ft tail lights to hitch with a tool/ propane box on the nose so there is a spot for trailer junk, tire blocks, etc. I like it and think if Ember had a 18ft version of this it would be really high on my list. Going to go look at the 100 this weekend. Definitely not a 30k trailer with its size, but definitely a great idea for active families needing a alternative to a tent. Which is what my situation is. 18ft definitely the sweet spot for this design 16ft is a bit of a pinch but might be possible for us.
There are parallels there. I won't say I didn't consider something similar. But the more I see these the more I feel like they're trying to create their own unique thing here
Pretty sure they're powder coated aluminum. I've texted my factory contact to verify. I'll update this if I find out something to the contrary. By default these come with no batteries though the FLX edition includes a huge on board lithium *[UPDATE!]* I'm glad I verified. It is a coated steel. Not coated aluminum.
OK Josh... I like what Winnebago is trying to do hear... She's small and lean but still has the necessities... And yes.... I like your term of off pavement capable... But man... The price for what you get seems a bit high to me... So many other options that are close in price, but just a bit larger and still in the half ton capabilities... I'd have to think hard about this one..
2022 Chevy Colorado has a tongue weight capacity for a standard hitch of 550lbs, so this would be pushing it. With a weight distribution hitch though, it increases to 770lbs. Definitely doable for my truck.
I have to relay you to our local team members for specifics I couldn’t catch during the video. Drop them a note at 800-256-5196 and they can get you anything you need
We were considering the TB model. After seeing it in person we were very disappointed in the finish quality given that it is Winnebago and carries a WB price tag. Really wanted this to be our next adventure buggy 😢. The rear doors didn’t stay open on their own and the cabinets inside didn’t have any closing mechanism to keep them closed on the road. In the one we saw, the fold down sofa was maladjusted and didn’t fit to make the double bed. Someone before us had tried to force it and had left a couple of huge gouge marks on the opposing bunk. Dealer offered to fix it before delivery, but at this price point it shouldn’t need fixing before purchase. Maybe the next iteration. JMO
Hi Josh, i was wondering if I could pull this RV with my 2024 Santa Cruz SEL, it has a tow capacity of 3500 lbs. I'm not sure i could but thought i would ask anyway👍👍
Josh....I'm looking at the Hike 100, the GEO Pro G15TB and the No Bo 16.1 Do you have any comparison videos of that class of trailers? Which has better suspension for back woods? better quality overall? Best bang for your buck? Does anyone here have any experience with at least two and your preference?
Josh, you’re still the best. Showing with the wide angle lense is ok, but I like the “real” look too. Thank you for doing both in this video. If I had to pick, I prefer the “real” look. I love this little camper and think it would work for my needing 3 separate beds, situation. Thank you for your wonderfully entertaining and informative videos. We all love you out here.
Yeah I think that and the overall weight are a major con for this TT given that it is so short. While it does have some interesting features it would be something a lot of people would have to upgrade their vehicle to tow unless they had a truck which is something many want to avoid.
I can tell you from personal experience, there are MANY people wanting something this small but in a true toyhauler form. I myself want this, but with larger bath and tandem axle. They came close but to me it's a no go without the toyhauler door. Plus, have you seen the price for this thing? WOW! Unbelievable! PS - Not everyone wants needs to haul large side-by-side vehicles.
This is perfect for loading all the tents that everyone else in my family uses. Since I don't sleep on the ground (ever), I can sleep in here and haul everyone's stuff for them! Cute trailer!
Did some real tent camping one time with my wife when we were younger, dumber, and likely drunker (lol) when a friend of mine threw his own little outdoor music festival It was fun, but it was easier when we were 26 years old lol
Nothing like a bit of potty humor to start the video. 😄 I think the convection microwave is one thing Winnebago got right and where Ember missed the boat. They should have a pocket or small shelf by the bedroom USB ports so you have some place to set your phone while plugged in.
The whole electric vs. propane cooking setup on these is something that feels a little confused to me but some people say it really makes sense. It's a different type of camping than I'm used to so I guess I just have a squint a bit
The best thing in this is the microwave is not next to the floor. Nothing wrong with the cassette toilet the only thing I can see is that for some people 40 pounds it might be to heave to lift. Overall it get a B+ . Big 👍review. Thanks

I've had mine for a few weeks, and I take it out on its first trip next weekend. I've been looking at camper vans for 2 years, and with the prices still up in the rafters, I finally switched gears and started looking at towables. I found one of these at the Maryland RV show, and that was all she wrote. It's compact, but it has all the things I wanted, and the off road suspension along with the solar and the huge fresh and grey tanks will give us so many more camping options than just staying in established campgrounds. I will say, though, that Winnebago support has been a bit of a disappointment -- there's no user manual for this model yet, the batwing awning comes with *no* instructions for installation, and the support people have mostly been ignoring my requests for information. I expected more from such an established company.
@@TommyLuptak Are you saying that Winnebago bears no responsibility for providing documentation for something they produce? My dealer *did* show me a lot, but I need answers to way more questions than they have time or expertise to provide, and Winnebago as a fairly substantial company should have the resources to fill in the blank spots.
Oh my, I do like this rv. It fits so many different combinations of needs. It does have the advantages of a Class B, and I could really make that little kitchen work, and the sleeping arrangements could suit a family of 3 adults.
So they should do what scout did and put a roof top tent with a portal hole in the roof so you can access it from the inside. That way the kids can sleep in the tent and parents can sleep in the camper.
This thing is the future of RVing. Way too many RVs have gotten huge and cost more than my first friggin house did! Small, flexible and fairly light with a price that is not a second mortgage!
When you say it doesn't have centralized heating, you are talking about no heat ducts rite? What size heater is in this unit Uncle Josh? I hope you're having a great day Uncle Josh? This is a super nice small unit. Thank you for sharing this with us Uncle Josh! Your number one fan an friend Leonard from NC.
I like the wide angle lens because I can see how everything fits together. The normal lens is just too close. For me, the wide angle lens gives better perspective. BTW Josh, I've recently tried watching 3 other reviewers do reviews of campers and I couldnt even finish watching them. They just don't hold my interest like you do. I especially like that you start every video with a floorplan layout followed shortly after by the specs. Showing the specs again at the end of the video is a good idea too.
I think Josh did it best, showing it as it is, but using the wide angle lens to give people the idea of what a small space looks like with it fitting all together.
Yep, that was an amazingly crappy joke, Uncle Josh! Thanks for showing us what a US Bee Sea looks like, I always imagined they'd be wetter. Not throwing any shade at the Hike, but for very little more money I'd rather have an Ember.
Add some booster springs and a good WDH and most mid size pickups would be good towing this as long as you factor in the amount of payload that tongue weight is going to eat up. I tow a RPod with a tongue box and a heavy battery and a 30lb propane tank and it's tongue weight is right at 500lbs and my Frontier with a Blue Ox Sway Pro hanldles it fine.
THERE we go. I like these Hikes, but every version I’ve seen seems to have an “if” “and” or “but” about it. This is a very practical layout. Does that upper twin bunk have the weight capacity for an adult (*slightly overweight) sleeper?
This would be ideal for a class B van owner the host of Big Truck & RV ON UA-cam Dad bought one o similar to this model for th3 ve4y purpose Josh is talking about 😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Good call Josh!😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I like this one the best of the Hike 100s. Would be interested in removing the flip sofa and putting a desk in its place. Wouldn't it be cool if the back had a patio/ramp instead of a tiny door? Not a fan of the kitchen (no counter space) or the bathroom sink (it's too small already, why eat up space with a second sink when the other one is literally 2 inches away lol). But the biggest problem is that the GeoPro 15TB is just so much better (more storage, bigger fridge, better kitchen, lighter weight, more roomy) at half the price!
I think the idea of this thing is it's built for a little more "off pavement" use vs. a Geo Pro which is really a park camper. But overall... I do tend to agree with your comparison here
They are SO close! The moveable stove, the multi use bathroom, the permanent bed and moveable sofa. Very nice! That fan is ridiculous and they should be ashamed to put it in a high end unit like this with hardly any windows for airflow. A maxxaire fan at that price point is a minimum. My question is the bunks .. is the fixed one long enough to sleep on alone and leave it up all the time? Can you remove the upper bunk and put in a larger window there? I know you said they have no options .. but that would be super appealing to a solo traveler. Also would like to see an opening window in the bath and behind the kitchen sink. ❤
There are no “swap this for that” on these - especially when it comes to walls. Mfgs do not option things like that It’s one way housing and rv builds are very different
Nice! This is a great solo camper! The versatility of this is great. I'll have to take a look at the other Hikes. Does it only have 2 tie downs? It seems like there should be a couple on the other side too. I like the cargo rack, it gives options. It seems odd for an off-road trailer to not be prepped for a solar inverter, and extra plug-in panels. I was hoping it could be towed with an SUV, given it's size.
Comparison to a class B is a good idea. Even buying a truck to tow it,.it would probably be less $$. Only other disadvantages would be taking up more parking space, and inability to get to the driver's seat without exiting the living space (in case of weather or emergency).
I like the fuctionality of the camper, but would like to see the utility concept stripped down to make it as lightweight as possible. It seems like they tried to see how heavy they could build a compact trailer.
I think the prevailing logic is it's made to handle a solid load in the back which can cantilever the nose. Kind of the same way toy haulers are known for higher hitch weights when empty
I could live with this. Thats going to be a hell no from the Ms.😅 Could boondock for a month. And at its price point a Honda 2500, two really big lithium batteries plus a roof full of solar and Starlink isn't out of the question. Perhaps a 40 lb lp tank.. Not sure about the upper bunk. Probably remove it. Would be nice to have larger window on both sides. I forget what those backrest pillows with arms are called but two of those and who needs a couch! It's ideal. Just looked up the Flx and bingo! A 320-amp-hour Lithium-ion battery and 200 watt solar plus a 3000 watt inverter for that package and you'll never have to plug it in. Make it happen winni!
Every time I see that exo-skeleton I immediately think what a PITA it would be to try to cut and fit skirting around the bottom for those times you're cold-weather camping. LOL! I wonder why nobody has invented some kind of onboard pull-down skirting for these things yet? I think if I was going to do a lot of off-roading, I'd rather have skid-plates over key areas, like corners and the tank drain, than that rail jutting out around the bottom. I like that they put the ladder on the side instead of the back. And I like that narrow primary bed with the fold-down bunk above (I'd use it for storage). But again, I'd ditch that fold-up couch thing that doesn't look comfortable and just takes up a lot of space. Much prefer a tall counter-top and a bar-stool, with storage drawers underneath. Then you wouldn't even need a table. And I can't imagine trying to wash dishes in that sink. lol Clearly this unit is intended more for people who expect to spend most of their time outside, but bad weather happens and it'd be nice to be comfortable when you're stuck indoors. FWIW, Google says the payload capacity for a Frontier SV like mine is 1505 lbs, but I'm pretty sure mine says something like 865 lbs on the door sticker. Probably because it has the tow package, bed rail system and a bed extender. Anyway, it could tow this camper, but I wouldn't be able to put much in the truck because of the hitch weight...which probably wouldn't be an issue because the camper has a decent CCC.
I think it fits in great with a 3-person family. Either a single adult with 2 kids, or two adults and a single kid. Even if they got rid of the upper cabinets and put in another foldable bunk bed, I think it's too small of a space for 4 people.
Love the simplicity of this. This would be great for a hunting rig for 1 or 2 adults. Only real negative I see is I wish it had a true gas stove inside. Thanks for the great review!
Just buy a portable electric induction cooktop. They use very little electricity and don't get hot. Only the pot gets hot. And it's portable. It also cooks by a very accurate digital thermometer type dial. So very accurate to deep fry or just boil or cook top.
I really like this little trailer! Perfect for a Single, a Couple, or even a young couple with small kids! Love the cargo door for kayaks, and that they include the induction plate and the outside cooker hooker upper for a grill! The wet bath doesn't bother me, and I love the option of the mega bed or the 3 twins! Yes I would remove that panel next to the bed or at least make it a flip up/down. Cute Winnie!
Needs to sleep 5 and it’s perfect
I absolutely love these Hike 100 models and if I didn't have three kids, this is probably what I'd tow.

What a great compact trailer. The ‘normal’ lens is definitely the way to go! The super wide angle distorts the image and is difficult to watch.
Thanks for the feedback
THERE we go. I like these Hikes, but every version I’ve seen seems to have an “if” “and” or “but” about it. This is a very practical layout. Does that upper twin bunk have the weight capacity for an adult (*slightly overweight) sleeper?
I didn’t catch the weight limit on the upper but I was able to climb up there myself at 220lbs
Lmao at “MmmmMEGGGAA Bedd”
😂
I do tend to agree with your comparison here
I seen them at the RV show They're nice And in my opinion they're quite
$$$$$expensive
“Long enough” depends on size. Not trying to be difficult - I just can’t answer it
There are no “swap this for that” on these - especially when it comes to walls. Mfgs do not option things like that
It’s one way housing and rv builds are very different
I got the video notification I thought I “won a bagel”! Winnebago is ok I guess.
Bwhahahahaha!!!
awesome concept but not for 30k lol
Fair enough
The hiccup with SUV towing on this one is it carries a fairly heft hitch weight. The Smaller size of the RV definitely lends itself to that
Comparison to a class B is a good idea. Even buying a truck to tow it,.it would probably be less $$. Only other disadvantages would be taking up more parking space, and inability to get to the driver's seat without exiting the living space (in case of weather or emergency).
Josh, do you have any Airstream dealers in your network? Curious if you've seen the Basecamp 16X and how the quality compares in your opinion.
We do not at this time
As a result I don’t feel qualified to try to venture an answer for you
I like the fuctionality of the camper, but would like to see the utility concept stripped down to make it as lightweight as possible. It seems like they tried to see how heavy they could build a compact trailer.
How in the world does something this small have an almost 600lbs tongue weight?
I think the prevailing logic is it's made to handle a solid load in the back which can cantilever the nose. Kind of the same way toy haulers are known for higher hitch weights when empty
I could live with this. Thats going to be a hell no from the Ms.😅
Could boondock for a month.
And I can't imagine trying to wash dishes in that sink. lol
Clearly this unit is intended more for people who expect to spend most of their time outside, but bad weather happens and it'd be nice to be comfortable when you're stuck indoors.
“For people who intend to spend most of their time outside” nails it
Does the rear cargo door have screen door capability? If not maybe it should. Just an idea. Thanks so much for the great video review.
Magnetic yeah
I think it fits in great with a 3-person family. Either a single adult with 2 kids, or two adults and a single kid. Even if they got rid of the upper cabinets and put in another foldable bunk bed, I think it's too small of a space for 4 people.
For $45 k they can shove it.
Bigger doors on the tail end would be nicer
I really like this little trailer! Perfect for a Single, a Couple, or even a young couple with small kids! Love the cargo door for kayaks, and that they include the induction plate and the outside cooker hooker upper for a grill! The wet bath doesn't bother me, and I love the option of the mega bed or the 3 twins! Yes I would remove that panel next to the bed or at least make it a flip up/down. Cute Winnie!
