People continuously ask me why I watch someone "drive" on the highway. I reply, why don't you?? To learn, to view, to enjoy things you would not otherwise see is great. Maybe one day I will be able to do this. I love the drive and the scenery. Thanks again.
I used to have a pretty big fear of driving on freeways in big cities, but watching your videos, and others like it gave me the courage to overcome it. I recently drove on I-5 through Seattle almost worry free, Thank you!
My girlfriend and I drove through Denver on the way to Estes Park and back to where we were staying in Colorado Springs a few months ago. The drive from Co. Springs to Denver was pretty nice, and the morning traffic wasn't too bad (except for some construction) as we went through the center of the metro area. Loop 470's evening traffic on our way back to Co Springs was horrible though. Long drive too lol.
I don't have any made...and have not even looked at the footage yet to be honest. It's going to be a few months before those are posted, I post my videos in the order they were filmed on the trip.
Thanks....I agree, the interchange is not "all that" and neither is the Denver Freeway System all things considered, but you get some pretty cool views of the Mts and the T-REX really turned out well so I'll give them that.
Yes there is somewhat of a relationship there, it's all about making everything work and flow properly. The music is also synched to the speed with regards to breaks and pauses.
These are videos from vacations, which in reality the driving to and checking out new places is the vacation, not really in to the touristy stuff, I see what I'm most interested in. I also have NE videos from 2009, I'm originally from NH.
I think the title is self explanatory if you pay attention to the comments in the video....the T-REX Project and the Mousetrap interchange. The music is a 40+ year old classic, I'd recommend you search out the long version of it.
Great video Jim! The Denver freeway system is pretty impressive. And it's not you, but I'll still never understand the significance of the Mousetrap. Yes it's tied to an event that crippled Denver's network, but the interchange itself is pretty basic compared with what we have in the east and what you'll encounter in Cali. But that's my two cents. Carry on man!
Hi Jim, great videos, my favorite freeway channel on youtube! Thanks for doing the NE area last year! Now that I live abroad it's been amazing watching those routes on such a great quality. One question, you film this videos when you go on vacation or you travel a lot cause of work and therefore film the vids?
Not being from Denver I really don't know, it's just a name like malfunction junction that you'd call a tricky or poorly designed interchange (which the original 1950's version was) that causes traffic issues. You want to to check wikipedia for more. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mousetrap_(Denver)
Jon Stefanik According to this forum (about 3/4 of the way down the page, you'll find a photo of I-25.) @1634154. The lady says, it's from the 50-60's when the cops used it as a speed catch.
I first came to Colorado in 1987, just before they rebuilt The Mousetrap. At that time, it was configured much more like a high-speed traffic circle, with traffic constantly merging and splitting. There was a grass median at the center of it, with its own little control tower, and wreckers would park in the median and wait for the accidents to happen. Also, especially with that control tower and the raised ramps, the whole thing looked like the game of Mousetrap, which must have added to the nickname.
Back in the early 60s, Milton Bradley introduced a kid's game called "Mouse Trap." You built a convoluted contraption that eventually caught a mouse. KHOW radio's Sky Spy, Don Martin, like to note that the interchange looked like that popular game as he flew over the city doing traffic reports. The name stuck.

I did not get in to town until 8PM the night before, Denver was just a stop on a much longer trip.

This green-eyed lady is very pleased that you filmed in her new hometown! I hope you had a wonderful time here, in Denver, Colorado!
Excellent video and track!

Awesome as usual.
Thank you very much and we did!
SF and LA wowed me the most, Pittsburgh is one of my favorite places to visit and I have no idea when I'll get up to Minny.
Thanks, it just comes up, some do, some don't. I have no idea of how to make it happen or not happen.
Because this was part of a two week road trip!
Thank you! yeah I've always liked that song.
It's really cool seeing old maps.
That's awesome! you are very welcome and thank's for sharing that.

So how many have we found? 1 in Denver and 1 in Thornton. T Rex skeletons
In all your travel, which city wow you the most? Coming to the Mpls/St Paul?
Excellent work, enjoyed the ride, awesome as always!!
Thanks Gert!
anyone notice the shoulder work sign at the beginning has a 0 in it?
Is it just me or does the speed of the video depend on the music?
nice video.
I lived in Thornton for 10 years.

Why did you name this video T-REX & The Mousetrap? I like the music though. It's Awesome!!!
Freeway Jim. Do you have any idea why they call that The Mousetrap? I sure don't. Looks like a normal interchange to me.
