I can’t wait to play this game for the first time after hearing nothing, and I mean NOTHING but good things about it for years. I’m glad that Nintendo has been listening to what they’re fans want lately. As a collector, I was gonna buy the original GameCube version, but now that’ll have to wait because this is just insane! First the Super Mario RPG remake which I’m very excited for because the original was awesome, and now a TTYD remake. The Switch is becoming the best console of all time for me.
Same buddy. We’re getting this and rpg. I’m guessing there are tons of people in the same boat. I could emulate it but I’d rather buy it to show my support for the original game style. Im happy the game cube is old enough that Nintendo is making rereleases for it. Even if it makes me feel old.
i’ve played it. it’s not that great. it’s not bad. it’s fun. but it’s not some masterpiece. just a goofy little game

Can we all agree though that each Paper Mario is all amazing for their own reasons? Each Paper Mario game I've played is always a different experience than the last one, instead of sticking to a central mechanic of the series. That's one of the reasons why I love Paper Mario
I'm speechless. A Thousand-Year Door remake seemed super unlikely due to recent games having restrictions. But The GOAT of Mario RPGs is finally getting the HD comeback it deserves!
Y'know, with Mario Wonder on the horizon, I honestly think the whole "restriction" thing is either gone, or was always bull.
No sadly bowser’s inside story is not on switch. Paper Mario ttyd is still amazing though and it’s cool to have the second and third best Mario rpg games on switch.
I really really hope people buy this more than origami king. I’ve played this game and didn’t even complete it and have no plans on completing it but I’m buying it just to boost sales cus this game is 1000x better than newer paper Mario games. Nintendo needs a message that this is what we prefer.

this made the entire direct. i barely remember this game since i only watched when i was very young, but it has remained one of my favourite games of all time. i literally cried tears of joy when i saw this, i cant wait to be able to experience this incredible game again!!
I was literally in the middle of my Game Development Theory class lecture when I first saw this (the Direct itself started about half an hour before class), and it took me EVERYTHING I HAD to prevent myself from yelling out with joy. That didn’t stop me from smiling VERY PROUDLY, nodding my head happily, tapping my foot to the nostalgic music, and rocking back and forth in my seat, because the simple fact that Nintendo even remembers Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door AT ALL makes me REALLY, REALLY HAPPY! Has it seriously been almost 20 years since I first laid hands on the original game at my local McDonald’s as a kid (and about 7 years since I finally beat the original game for the very first time)? Welp, no wonder I remember the game's intro music and title theme so well…
They actually did it. This game is beyond amazing; a masterpiece; a must buy. And I will be buying it 100%.

I truly want them to leave the final boss theme alone, it was actually terrifying as a kid to fight the boss with that music and those attacks. It probably will be remixed but I’m just so so happy this is real. Physical copy all the way

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who got tripped up by the PM64 file select music and briefly though "wait, no way, Paper Mario 1+2?"
I’m so glad that they kept the original sprites of the characters and didn’t make them modern designed like in Origami king and Color splash for example.
I like some of the modern designs better honestly.

Most of the classic designs are just redraws of SMB3, SMW and Yoshi's Island Sprites. Mario is basically a redraw of the SMW small Mario.
The only paper Mario game I haven’t played, I’m excited to try it and I have high expectations for it cause everyone treats this game as if it’s the 2nd coming of Christ

Funky Kong returned in Mario Kart, and this. What a direct.
One of my favourite things about stuff like arms, legs and hair being separate layers is it allows for smoother animations with the characters while still keeping the paper aesthetic. This game just outright looks gorgeous

I’m actually glad Nintendo is putting some effort into their full remakes now
3D Allstars wasn’t terrible they were just ports but this and super mario rpg look like their on a whole new level
3D All-stars was created for the 35th anniversary, meaning that they didn't have enough time to remake nor remaster 3 games at the same time. So expect the same thing to happen on the 45th anniversary in 2030 (there won't be any re-releases in the 40th anniversary if the anniversary patterns are true).

It sounds SO crisp and the HDR really tickled my retinas in the best way!
I'M SO HAPPY THEY BROUGHT IT BACK AND KEPT THE ORIGINAL AESTHETIC OF THE WORLD AND ART STYLE. Haven't been a fan of the overreliance on paper in the newer paper mario games after SPM. Hopefully this game makes them realise that keeping the mechanics of the original three paper mario games (if you include SPM cause of its amazing story) and building on it is the best thing to do (as they were trying to do with Sticker Star before Miyamoto decided to comment on it)
They won’t be keeping the mechanics of the original 2 Paper Mario games. (SPM doesn’t count because story doesn’t matter that much) in any future games. So don’t get excited for it.

I spent $120 on the original copy two years back to play im so glad I did. Now they are giving it a remake im so damn happy it looks so good.

Couldn't believe my eyes either, a remake - at most I expected a port or a remaster and even those would've been incredible in every sense - of TTYD announced in this Direct and coming out next year?! Not to mention that it looks so good and you can spot several interesting additional details throughout this trailer like a completely new Toad in Glitzville, all the current partners in the blimp etc.!

Gameplay is the only thing that crippled Super, it was a "true" Paper Mario in every other way

I have a story to say, I was literally gonna buy the original one from eBay cause I’m about to play the Paper Mario Series, I’ve done N64, Super, and Color Splash and then I heard so many people say The Thousand Year Door was the best out of all and I was gonna buy it for Christmas or my Bday and then I saw this, I screamed and I even cried too, now I don’t have to buy the GameCube version (I have Wii with GameCube Adapter so yeah), I can buy this one now, it’ll be the same compare to the original one (Honestly I predict Paper Mario remastered would happen, I expect the N64 first though and then the thousand year door, but this surprise me a lot) I’m finally gonna play this and played all the Paper Mario games (except for 3DS) time to read all of what the characters have to say and boss (done that in N64 and Super, was fun with reading it too) I can’t wait :)

@@AverageKingBooEnjoyer back then Nathaniel played games mostly with friends and family and he didn't have a brain yet so he was really bad in a lot of games which he can now casually beat in one sitting.
Seeing as I have played: Color Splash, Origami King, AND sticker star, TTYD will be added to the list for sure
