Hey Don! I love your Doors albums. I remember hearing Light My Fire when I was 12 years old. "And our love become a funeral pyre." I didn't know what that meant until a few years later. Keep finding vinyl hauls.
I would have posted this comment sooner, but I only learned about this video a few weeks ago. The Canadian TSMR is more difficult to locate and can easily sell upwards of $50 in VG+/EX even for the more common Stereo. Yes, the Between the Buttons UK is a first press. The greatness of it is in the sound. It plays fast, so you have to slow it down, but it has a deep, explosive sound like you won't hear on any other pressing of that LP. The difference is considerable. The Beggars UK mono is mostly a fold-down mix. Sympathy, however, is a dedicated mono mix. Coincidentally, there exists a South African press which utilized a mono plate for Side 1 and stereo plate for side 2, thus allowing you to hear the dedicated Sympathy and the better Stereo for at least half the album. The UK BB mono was once far more difficult to find ($300+ some 10-15 years ago), but was never as rare as the Beatles White Album mono. It's is easier to find today, but it would take an extraordinary amount of luck to find one for less than $30. The Stones No.2 is the 1968 boxed logo press. Clean and sharp. A least a $50 record. That Johnny Cash has the original (loose, as made) wrapping with an old price sticker on back. Don't throw it out! Nice speed-thru on the spot where you had trouble replacing the Cash inner into the cover. I wish others were as clever.
I think your mono copy of Beggars Banquet, if in good condition, is worth a couple hundred bucks ... it is beyond me, why the recent reissue wasnt released in mono as well!
Well you are never confused at what his prices are...those price tags are HUGE lol!! Congrat on the haul my friend! Those days are always fantastic! Great Stones titles. Nice Neil Young Rust Never Sleeps pick up. That is a killer album. The Harmonica solo at the end of My My Hey Hey blows me always every time I hear it.
Great to see these albums, especially the Stones. I still need that Toilet Beggars cover, but not digital. But glad you still got it. A mono Beggars....hmmmmm.......do you like the sound? I would think these are made to be heard in stereo......but as a collector, I can see you wanting it....great prices as you mentioned.......
hey don great video and good pick ups . vinyl are worth every penny u spend on them. i go to thrift stores, value village and my record stores. the last haul i got was 5 record store day vinyl. cheap trick, stevie nicks, fleetwood mac, the time and space jam. i mmust own over 200 lps now. i use to have over 400 when i lived in a previous place. mike from canada
Hi Don, the Rolling Stones no 2 album looks to me like a first pressing as I notice there are two complete columns of text on the reverse. This is known as a 'blind man' copy and an offensive sentence concerning how to acquire this LP by knocking a blind man on the head was taken out due to complaints in the British press at the time. But I guess you already know this! Great Vids. Keep em coming.
Great collection, I would like to make contact with you, I also collect records and have a podcast show called: Songs From The Basement..are you on facebook or e-mail ?? thanks.
So instead of buying records gradually one by one over time as music you actually like, you prefer to buy industrial quantities of secondhand stuff - 'hauls' - you cannot possibly assimilate because at least it provides an opportunity to show off to sad, impressionable people on UA-cam.
That is the worst Pink Floyd record ever in my opinion. Someone was trying to make the Wall Part 2. So you buy a lot of Records you've never heard before. Are you buying records to resell on eBay? Or are you making a big record collection to impress the chicks? I'm guessing the latter LOL. It's going to be hard to understand those records since there's a lot of zeitgeist involved. Something like that at least. I do think it's really cool that people your age are collecting them. It's a very interesting phenomenon but very cool. Now if we can just make records a little cheaper again but you get some really good deals. Even though they were a lot cheaper in the nineties. That Pink Floyd record would have been three or four dollars. I think that I paid $5 for the wall back then. People were just throwing it record collections away because of CDs
Erik Molnar. You Are correct.i did the same thing got rid of 1700 albums for 1500 bucks .A great many were 1st pressing and a large amount of Promo copies. Back in the mid 70s I worked by a store that was selling them when it was illegal to do.i now have thousand cds, and few hundred cassettes .I just started to buy albums again. I found a lady on long island who sold me 145 albums all in plastic all first pressing for 100 dollars..I had bought 300 video discs from her before .Now she's moving and happy to sell them...But no Beatles,Stones ,Zeppelin or Doors..im 66 and I said what the heck...But there are people here who want 15 a album...because they here there's big money in them...lol...i tell them good luck selling them....I'll keep looking there are plenty of people's moving...the thrifts n good will,st Vicents have crap now...take care
