@@maxcrewe5898 Yes you can I am sure! The reason why the mic wont work on xbox is because the mic is powered by Bluetooth which xbox does not even have. So the solution is to get something thats make the aux wire into an mic. There are two popular brands such an Vmoda and Modmic i think that make these on amazon with lots of reviews. So go on amazon an write something like : "Boom Gaming Microphone Cable Compatible with Game PS4 Xbox One PC Laptop Phone And Sony' thats the exact name of a product that should work. AND CAUTION, SOME OF THESE WILL NOT EVEN FIT XM3s ,WH models as the aux wire goes very deep or the hole is small or something. To fix this MAKE SURE it says compatable with sony , AND read all asked questions when u scroll down on the website and read reviews there are plenty of ppl who have confirmed if it works with XM3 AND WH models. Some of these brands have a seperate product just for sony headphones so it defo fits the hole properly
I've had the sony xb900n for a year now and I love how light they feel and how much bass comes out of them. Today I bought the sony 1000xm4 and it surprised me how much noise gets canceled without ANC on then I turned them on and the world goes silent, then they have way more clarity and some great bass but nowhere near as much bass and the 900n so I use the 900n for working out and the xm4 for going out
I have XB900, now I am planning to buy one not sure whether extra money for 1000xm4 or Sennheiser momentum 3 is worth. Also a shop nearby is selling Beats studio 3 at a discount rate which is almost near XB900. What you suggest? I listen to more EDM, Epic music and use for movies
Hi, i've the Sony's XB-900N, and i need to say that one thing was completely thougtless. The microphone placing. When theres windy day, sometimes u can't enjoy the music. If there was a next gen XB headphones i'd totaly go for it only if the microphones moved to the same place as it is on WH-1000XM3 or 4.

The Major Problem is once you use the XM4’s…. The 900N’s just seem so lesser of quality ALL the way around. My gf got the 900N’s 1st and they sounded very good to me. I purchased the XM4’s on sale for $248 a few days after. A week later (this week) Best Buy have the 900N’s on sale for $120‼️ I figured I’d exchange my XM4’s out for the 900N’s (look and fit are very similar)….i tried hers out again to make sure they were as good as I originally thought, BUT I COULDN’T go back even for $130 in savings plus the lower BB 2 yr protection plan. In short, turned down $170 in cash back bc the difference was so obvious. But if I never had the XM4’s and was more of a “light user”, you CAN’T beat the quality and value of the 900N’s. Great review ….nailed it👍
Hi, you can convert LDAC to AAC(through developer options) with WH-1000XM3 on Android and you will be able to use the in-app equalizer without switching to Priority on Stable connection.
I've used my WH-XB900N's for 3740 hours and 1 minute exactly,, and all I can say is WOW. I've not once thought,,,,, I wish these had more bass. If you're at home in the quiet and crank up the volume "not full either" and you'll actually feel the bass in your chest. It literally sounds and feels like you're sitting in a car with a banging system and a perfect amount of subwoofer. I'm deadly serious about you feeling the bass in your chest.. These are definitely my favourite. And for the price of them,,,,,,,,they've got the biggest bang for ya buck. The only issue is after a few hundred hours of usage they creeked a bit but a little bit of oil "and I mean a tiny bit" on the movable parts and the creekings not come back. I love these things.
Xm4 anc and ambient mode definitely work great. Is a walk in cooler and it's blocking out the fans pretty well. There is still little bit of noise coming though.

Now that the XB910n came out, the XB900n can be found for like $120, which in my opinion is a really good deal for even medium tier anc over ear headphones
You pointed out one major issue with XB900N and that's the Codec change from LDAC to SBC whenever trying to fiddle with the EQ. It's super annoying that I can't do both at the same time. I use TIDAL HiFi for music listening and I can't change the bass setting whatsoever if I don't want to sacrifice the quality. Hope sony can fix that with some software update.
I believe this is due to the processing power limitation of the processor (don't know which one) of the headphones. Therefore, to have EQ on LDAC (if even possible) would require a huge overhaul in either the firmware or LDAC itself which I don't think would happen anytime soon.
1000XM4 are much more expensive in my country. They cost the equivalent of $282, while XB900N cost $127. I can take 2 pairs of XB900N basically for that price, so it's not a great comparison in terms of cost. For this reason I'm thinking of buying XB900N during this Black Friday season.
I got xm4. Its awesome. Fully satiafied. Only thing is the sony headphones app does not run automatically when the headphone is connected to my phone. I have to run it manually to get to my adaptive settings. My jabra's runs automatically and enters to my customised settings.
Might have to update your app or maybe your not running aac or ldac and it will automatically format it to default. He explains this earlier in the video. Hope this helps.
I honestly found that the 1000xm4 was more comfy for me because the xb900n's driver wall did press against my left ear. Due to the little padding on the driver wall, this became fairly uncomfortable after a long day of wearing them.
I’m glad I watched this. I work the night shift and want to watch movies on my off nights on my big TV without waking anyone up. It would seem that the cheaper headphones actually make a lot more sense for my use case!

I enjoyed the technical focus that most audiophiles look for in reviews... just hearing "it's better" is not very helpyful. Comfort of course can only be checked by going to a store and putting on the device, but I definitely liked how you explained the extra features, and pitfalls of them. The cost of the xm4 has dropped recently so I'm still torn between the two. Also, has Sony updated the push to talk feature on the XM4 so you don't need to keep holding your palm on the ear to talk with ambient noise?
The one thing I wish they would add is a touch panel on the left side cos i hold my phone with my right hand like most right handed people and it’s very annoying having to drop my phone to touch the panel

Music sounds the same with the 'Xtra' Bass. There's no muffling. I've been using the XB900N for about an year and half... Have been thinking of upgrading to the XM3 cuz the XM4 is a bit too expensive, but trust me, when it comes to XM3 vs the XB900N, there's little to no differene. Will be saving up money to buy the XM5 (if Sony decides to release them), otherwise, the XB900N is a gem!
If the XM has extra bass then it would be the perfect pair of headphones. I’d pick them up pre-owned though. ~500 bucks is too much for what I want to pay for a pair of headphones

I've got the cheapest anc sonys and they also switch codecs if you want to use clear bass or EQ. I found its possible to cheat the software and get my cans to use eq with aptX.
This thing about BT codec changing depending on EQ is a total WTF. I kinda get it. Regardless of the reason(s) for this (I can think of several possibilities), it raises the question of whether A) this can be overridden, such as in your android phone's developer options, and B) whether android audio effects--such as the EQ of the default music app, or even third party customizations such as jamesDSP--has the same effect ( you'd think not because it's downstream of the BT signal and therefore shouldn't come into play, but. . . .).
Maybe I missed this in the video, so could you clarify the following: When the headphones (drivers) are only powered by the 3.5mm jack cable (i.e. switched off at the cup power button), is sound quality similar compared to when they're switched on with the 3.5mm jack cable still plugged in? Ignoring the obvious change from an absence of ANC when the headphones are switched off. I don't intend to use ANC much if at all (I only consume media in my study-mancave-office, not outdoors). @@Migueltdm At that time I bought the Sony XB900N, a Sennheiser HD 4.50 BT & the Audio-Technica SR50BT (got a coupon for last one, its more expensive). The Sennheiser one was very bad, due to too small earcups and bad sound quality, the Sony XB900N had comfortable earcushions and good sound (little too bassy by default, but can be turned down in app), but for me the Audio Technica was the best in terms of sound, with same comfort level as the XB900N. I really like the Neutral Sound from the Audio Technicas, can hear all details etc, sound is almost as nice as my PC headphone. Using them everyday :) But the XB900N are nice too. But if you can, you could try out the SR50BT from Audio-Technica.
david029014 I definitely recommend the XM4 because they’re excellent, their comfortable, and the build quality is top notch, as well as the ear cups -their much more spacious. But, they’re a little expensive, I paid 550 CAD which was a lot but I’m glad I have them, I think if you can wait, wait for Black Friday because they may go on sale.
david029014 Definitely sell those XM2’s but not until you’re satisfied with the XM4’s, also, buy the XM4’s of Amazon because then you can return them, I’m only saying this because I stupidly bought a pair of Beats Studio3 a year ago, and I hated them, I went to go return them and they said “oh, have you opened or used the headset” and I said “yes” and I got turned around and given the boot. I sold them on Facebook, thanks be to god I bought them on sale and only lost 50$, but it was still a mistake nevertheless. So if you are going to upgrade, get them on Amazon because if you don’t like them you can always return and then you will not loose any money.

XB900N hurt my ears, they have something on the inside that pokes out and presses against my ear and it’s super uncomfortable. The XM4 is flat on the inside so nothing is poking me but I do have to admit that sound quality wise… I could do with either. But xm4 is more comfortable

I'm shopping for my first pair of premium headphones. I'm a TOTAL audio peasant and am completely happy with gas station earbuds or my phone speaker for listening to music. I found myself wanting something nice that was wireless, sounded decent and above all, was comfortable because I will be using them for long stretches at my desk and on the very rare long flight. I bought the JBL LIVE 650BT but found out pretty quick that they weren't comfortable on my ears. This got me looking at the Bose Quiet Comfort and the Sony 1000XMs. I wasn't exactly keen on $350 for something that was essentially an occasional item so the XB900 joined the race. That brings me to this review. WOW! This is by far the best video review for ANY product comparison I've ever seen. It was well shot, clear and concise and it answered questions I didn't even know I had. As stated before, I'm a peasant so all the bells and whistles are lost on me and I do NOT like being disconnected form my environment (I would NEVER wear these in public other than an airplane in flight) so the best NC does me little good. Anyways, THANK YOU for such a fantastic and enjoyable review. Even though I don't see me needing much help in the future I subbed to your channel for the great professionalism you showed here. I'll probably watch a few more videos just because.
Thank you for bringing up the nuisance of " speak to chat". Sony should get rid of all these funky sensors and " features" and give the consumers better drivers, better DSP tuning (turning down the insane amount of compression) in the next revision.
I currently use XB450 from Sony. This is to give you a reference in terms of Bass I enjoy. So, shall I get XM4, or XB900N? With tweaking in Sony's app, will XM4 have good bass output? Your input will be really appreciated.

Bro ,even the colour of the Sony 1000XM4's is fantastic, matte black and blue are ok but the colour in the video and quality is fantastic.

I've got the cheapest anc sonys and they also switch codecs if you want to use clear bass or EQ. I found its possible to cheat the software and get my cans to use eq with aptX.

This thing about BT codec changing depending on EQ is a total WTF. I kinda get it. Regardless of the reason(s) for this (I can think of several possibilities), it raises the question of whether A) this can be overridden, such as in your android phone's developer options, and B) whether android audio effects--such as the EQ of the default music app, or even third party customizations such as jamesDSP--has the same effect ( you'd think not because it's downstream of the BT signal and therefore shouldn't come into play, but. . . .).

Maybe I missed this in the video, so could you clarify the following:
When the headphones (drivers) are only powered by the 3.5mm jack cable (i.e. switched off at the cup power button), is sound quality similar compared to when they're switched on with the 3.5mm jack cable still plugged in? Ignoring the obvious change from an absence of ANC when the headphones are switched off. I don't intend to use ANC much if at all (I only consume media in my study-mancave-office, not outdoors).

Thank you for the reviews. The Sony XB900N Extra Bass is 120€, should I pick these up? Or do you think there are better BT headphones for that price? I especially like that the Sony app offers an EQ and other features.

@@Migueltdm At that time I bought the Sony XB900N, a Sennheiser HD 4.50 BT & the Audio-Technica SR50BT (got a coupon for last one, its more expensive).
The Sennheiser one was very bad, due to too small earcups and bad sound quality, the Sony XB900N had comfortable earcushions and good sound (little too bassy by default, but can be turned down in app), but for me the Audio Technica was the best in terms of sound, with same comfort level as the XB900N. I really like the Neutral Sound from the Audio Technicas, can hear all details etc, sound is almost as nice as my PC headphone. Using them everyday :) But the XB900N are nice too. But if you can, you could try out the SR50BT from Audio-Technica.

david029014 I definitely recommend the XM4 because they’re excellent, their comfortable, and the build quality is top notch, as well as the ear cups -their much more spacious. But, they’re a little expensive, I paid 550 CAD which was a lot but I’m glad I have them, I think if you can wait, wait for Black Friday because they may go on sale.

david029014 Definitely sell those XM2’s but not until you’re satisfied with the XM4’s, also, buy the XM4’s of Amazon because then you can return them, I’m only saying this because I stupidly bought a pair of Beats Studio3 a year ago, and I hated them, I went to go return them and they said “oh, have you opened or used the headset” and I said “yes” and I got turned around and given the boot. I sold them on Facebook, thanks be to god I bought them on sale and only lost 50$, but it was still a mistake nevertheless. So if you are going to upgrade, get them on Amazon because if you don’t like them you can always return and then you will not loose any money.

XB900N hurt my ears, they have something on the inside that pokes out and presses against my ear and it’s super uncomfortable. The XM4 is flat on the inside so nothing is poking me but I do have to admit that sound quality wise… I could do with either. But xm4 is more comfortable

Sometimes i can multipoint Bluetooth with the XB900N´s! Don´t know how but i have got it to work a few times. Anyone else who got it to work to? I was planing to get the XM4´s now because that feature and the superior ANC but after this review it just feels stupid....

I'm shopping for my first pair of premium headphones. I'm a TOTAL audio peasant and am completely happy with gas station earbuds or my phone speaker for listening to music. I found myself wanting something nice that was wireless, sounded decent and above all, was comfortable because I will be using them for long stretches at my desk and on the very rare long flight. I bought the JBL LIVE 650BT but found out pretty quick that they weren't comfortable on my ears. This got me looking at the Bose Quiet Comfort and the Sony 1000XMs. I wasn't exactly keen on $350 for something that was essentially an occasional item so the XB900 joined the race. That brings me to this review.
WOW! This is by far the best video review for ANY product comparison I've ever seen. It was well shot, clear and concise and it answered questions I didn't even know I had. As stated before, I'm a peasant so all the bells and whistles are lost on me and I do NOT like being disconnected form my environment (I would NEVER wear these in public other than an airplane in flight) so the best NC does me little good. Anyways, THANK YOU for such a fantastic and enjoyable review. Even though I don't see me needing much help in the future I subbed to your channel for the great professionalism you showed here. I'll probably watch a few more videos just because.

Thank you for bringing up the nuisance of " speak to chat". Sony should get rid of all these funky sensors and " features" and give the consumers better drivers, better DSP tuning (turning down the insane amount of compression) in the next revision.

I currently use XB450 from Sony. This is to give you a reference in terms of Bass I enjoy. So, shall I get XM4, or XB900N? With tweaking in Sony's app, will XM4 have good bass output? Your input will be really appreciated.
900N is all about bass and crispy sound, you want bass go for 900N if you want better noice cancelations go for XM4
