I own, and have gifted several Fenix PD35 flash lights, all are doing fine. I bought 3 E30Rs to keep in each vehicle. I expect excellent service from then as well.

Richard Shipp I’ve bought 3 e18rs, 1 e30r and 1 hm61r which all use the same magnetic charging cable. Did you know that you can run the lights without a battery inserted directly from a power bank? I lit up my house using this function during a 18hr power cut.

I bought this flashlight over 1yr ago based on this review. More than happy and the light is still functioning as I bought it. It's used at work and has been dropped and banged hundreds of times. Submerged in oil and water no problem. The battery did stop working after it was dropped particularly hard one day. Replaced it with Panasonic NCR18650B which still allow the battery indicator to work. Some of the black finish has come off but that's trivial for me when this has lasted 3x longer, ongoing, than any other light I have bought at same price.

Another great review👍 Fenix also makes an LD30 which is very similar but instead of magnetic charging the battery itself is rechargeable. For that difference you get an on/off tactical tail switch as well as the side switch for mode selection. It also has memory so it will turn back on in the brightness mode you left it in. Oh and it has Strobe and SOS as well.

Love my E30R and carry it every day, the only thing that annoys me is the head-up clip - i'm sure that's led to more scratches on the lens on mine. Surely it would be easy to include a recess on the tail end of the body so you can reverse the clip and have it head-down. I own several 18650 torches and this one is the most compact of them all. Such a great torch.

You can buy 1 Fenix or12 EBay flashlghts . Put your money into good batteries such as HIXON, PANASONIC, or SANYO. The battery you choose is as important to performance in an LED as the flashlight itself. Not all 14500 and 18650 batteries are created equal. EBay flashlights may not have all the bells and whistles of a Fenix or other elite light, but their light itself is just as good. For small size and light weight, choose a14500 LED. For long runtime choose a compact 18650 LED light.

    • @ayem172003
      @ayem172003 5 років тому +1

18650 batteries are only 5/8" longer than a 14500 and they designed this flashlight to fix around an 18650 battery like a condom. it's slightly thicker but as small as most 14500 flashlights. 3 7/8" long and 1" thick not counting the pocket clip

I got the LD30 for the pocket and the PD36 TAC (3k lumens) for duty, both are longer and in my opinion much better than the E30 and also have memory and momentary on, which is very convenient for my use. The E30R could be good for camping but... always starting on mode low without memory? It's a deal breaker for me.

Just saw this review after owning. my. E30R since about the time this video first aired. No problems here either. As you mentioned, I just keep the clip in front of the charging point, and I've never had to hunt for the On switch....I don't have a single complaint with it. Great Battery life, Supreme Brightness, nice beam pattern that give sufficient spill... I don't notice the heat, but I don't touch the head of it. I just bought a Baton III, just so I'd have something 1/2 the size. Two different Lights for sure, not sure if I will keep the Olight. I'm happy with it, but compared to the E30, it's kind of disappointing, LOL

Hey Luke. Great review. While I like the Magnetic Port on this model, I didn’t want to yet bring another cable to load electronics. Just got myself the Fenix UC35 - 1000 Lumens, Micro Usb Port (behind old tech rubber cover, which works) and a 800h moonlight setting which is great for reading etc. The button is also only the settings button so it does allow memory of the last setting. The main power button is at the tail end. I like this model. Check it out.

    But..., a bit expensive...
What if its placed in the netting in the tent while the light is on ?

Good points made....your CONS....no memory?? "Almost a deal break" omission for me. Does Fexis have a light similar but WITH a lumens memory ablity?? Minor annoyane having to always step up the lumens if you prefer a certain amount of lumens e.g. 250...but 30 is actually enough for most "everyday use"....

I would suspect that that could be a huge difference in how it will act in water. mainly just concerned about the magnetic charg connection being eaten away. i've got both this flashlight and the pd36r, both amazing flashlights, the pd36r is a tiny bit thicker but not really noticable unless you hold them up to eachother, it is a couple inches longer and a bit heavier. so depending on what kindof pants you're wearing and how sensitive to a heavier flashlight in your pocket you are this smaller one might be more appealing even though the 21700 battery the pd36r uses has a much higher capacity. the pd does have mode memory and a separate button on the tail to turn it on though which is nice

30 lumens to dark adapted eyes is too bright. 1 Lumen or less is a basic necessity which really should have been included.
Although I'm impressed they set the temperature limit so high at 65 celcius, making the most out of the lights abilities without risking it too much. Nice to see they're not being soft.
This looks like a nice quality light but the UI is too lacking in features and at the price there's not really an excuse for that.
Case and point - check out the Emisar lights running either narsil or anduril firmware. Packed with features, top notch build quality, half the price, many custom spec options at purchase

personally I would rather have a 500 lumen flashlight with a much longer run time and adjustable throw. I never have a need for more than 500 lumens, and just so happens you can get a great one at Harbor Freight for $10.00 :-) at that price if something happens to it just ditch it and go get another one, however the ones I have are still going strong.

Unfortunately Fenix won't be doing usb-c type cables since well, you lose their cable you gotta buy another one from them = more money they make off ya lol. Proprietary cables/charging mechanisms = max profit.

I’ve seen a zillion Olight reviews and promos the past couple days, guess they didn’t pay you off, ha. This looks like a great light, I’ll have to look more into Fenix
