Alright, bit of a weird question but... I think I got a different blank text box because it never says 6D at the end when you press A, do you know if it's possible for different blank text boxes to appear?
It’s possible that your text box has the arrow in the top left, not the bottom right. If so, you’ve got the wrong one. If that’s not the problem, it shouldn’t matter if 6D shows up or not- I’m nearly positive it should work the same. Hope this helps.

I found that the easiest way to do this was to play in tabletop mode, hold the 1p joycon, and have the 2p joycon on the table. One thing to note is that you technically don't have to press and release R/SR specifically in order to get the debug menu open after the blank text box. For two joycons Y* (*B or Dpad Up depending on which joycon is your 2p) is probably your best bet to press and release with. Press Y* on the 2p controller with your pinky, then do the rest of the necessary inputs as normal. Let me know if you need further clarification, I'm not entirely sure how to describe it. TECHNICALLY yes, but the chances are so low I wouldn't recommend it. You'd be better off trying to find the sword of kings. It's possible with two sideways joycons though! Give that a shot.
I know this is kinda old and by the time you see this (if you see this) I’ll probably already have done it, but how can you count how many frames have gone by? One frame is 1/60th of a second, and unfortunately it's not really possible to count exactly 11/60ths or 13/60ths of a second. It's more of a feeling thing. UA-camr AndyPerfect's video on the debug menu has his inputs showing in the top left. I screen recorded his inputs when he successfully opened the menu and tried to copy his timing as best I could when I was trying to open the menu. Hey, question. I'm using the Nintendo switch version of EarthBound, and I'm currently at level 7. I'm at the correct spot (I believe, anyway. Same place you're at, same alignment I believe) and am holding the right bumper on the second controller and clicking the left bumper on the first controller. Thing is, it doesn't work, why is that?
What exactly isn't working? Is there nothing showing up at all? Just "no problem here"? Or garbage text? You can unfortunately get pretty unlucky while doing this, so it's possible that you're doing it right but the game just isn't deciding to give you what you want. If you're getting "q" spam you're doing it right.

From my experience, your best bet is using IDU and then going to ONtT (Onett) and then teleporting with PSI Teleport wherever you need to go (if you need to) . @@kashifsheikh4744 Don't worry, you're not being annoying. So 1 frame is 1/60th of 1 second since Earthbound runs at 60 frames a second (fps). When you're waiting for 11 or 13 frames, you're waiting 11/60th of a second or 13/60th of a second (but the time gap is so small it's hard to tell a difference.) It's pretty hard to know how long that is, but there's a video that might be able to help (it's the one I used to open the debug menu my first time). There's a well-known earthbound speedrunner known as AndyPerfect, and on his youtube channel (also called AndyPerfect) he has a video called "playing with the debug menu for the first time in earthbound" and in the top left corner he has his inputs showing. If you try and do your inputs right as Andy does his, you should be able to get it or at least get a feel for the timing. I should have included the timing in my video, that's my bad. Let me know how that goes, and don't be afraid to ask if you need help with anything else! Good luck!
Do you mean after you've opened it? Unfortunately, it seems to be luck based... From what I've used, IBNT [Goto Event] seems to work more consistently than IDU [Goto Area], but going to events isn't always ideal. Sorry for the kind of not-answer, I'm not really sure :( I recommend just keep trying, and then once you teleport to wherever you're trying to go just let it run for a couple minutes and see if it fixes itself, then close any menus that pop up. Some textures might be messed up, but going back and forth through a door should fix it. Or you could use the menu to give yourself some skip sandwiches and try to clip back out, not sure if that would work though.
I'm not very familiar with emulators, but as long as there's a way to connect a second player controller it should be possible (assuming you're not emulating the GBA version of the game).

Bro I would pay someone to do this for me I've been doing it for around 1 or 2 hours now on the snes mini classic and it's driving me insane could anyone help??
Each individual picture of a moving image (video). It’s how videos are filmed: for example most films are shot at 24 fps (frames per second), meaning that every second, 24 pictures have passed. This is what gives the illusion of the image moving. In this case, one frame is 1/24th of a second. Although not “recorded”, games work in a similar fashion. Earthbound and many other games run at 60 fps, meaning that one frame is 1/60th of a second. Should you be attempting to preform the frame-perfect input, you would need to press the buttons exactly 11/60ths of a second or 13/60ths of a second after releasing R.

The qqq spam happens during trying to get the blank text box, right? You don't need to time anything, it's just random. The only thing you can do to increase your chances of it appearing is holding R or Y on the 2p controller.
Again, I'm incredibly sorry for the wrong information.
@@Nillerz oh okay?
Did they fix this on the Switch cause I've been trying to clip thru the cliff for about an hour now
Nope, still works. Make sure you have the MIDDLE pixel of Ness's foot lined up and not the left or right ones, the process won't work otherwise.
@@Nillerz I'm not sure what ure talking about I know you said something about his foot but that's all I understand. Also can my Chinese Switch Pro Controller be P2. It keeps overwriting my joy-cons when I turn it on
The bottom of Ness's foot (the gray one that's facing the screen) is made up of three pixels. The second pixel of his foot is the one that should be above the green pixel in-between the upper level and the level that you're standing on. Make sure you are lined up EXACTLY how I am in the video (down to the pixel).
As for the Chinese Pro Controller, I have no idea what's happening with it. If it's overwriting your joycons, I'd recommend using it as player 1 and the joycons as player 2 OR using 2 single joycons, one as player 1 and one as player 2.
Hope this helps.
@@Nillerz yeah, sorry not sure if that's something I can actually do lol my eyesight is absolute s.ugar h.oney i.ced t.ea. I wouldn't be able to see individual pixels even with my glasses. Thx anyway for commenting on such an old vid to help me
@@CesarACastillo Aw man, I'm so sorry.
HOW LONG IS 13 FRAMES?
Earthbound runs at 60fps, so 13 frames is 13/60ths of a second.
It’s probably slower than you think.
I’d recommend using AndyPerfect’s video on the debug menu for the timing. He has his inputs displayed in the top left.
@@Nillerz can I have the link to the video?
ua-cam.com/video/suRcjE2ACXo/v-deo.html
He successfully does it at ~25 seconds.
@@Nillerz does it work on the super nintendo nes classic edition because thats all I have its not even jail broken because I’m too stupid for that I only nail broken my 3ds
@@JTSund Yup, I've done it myself. It's extremely difficult no matter the platform though, so don't give up if it takes a while.
First thing i should see: XXGH' . After the blank text box: 6D.
FPS?
Frames per second
No as in how many?
@@madmikefollower6939 How many frames between inputs? 11 or 13.
The game runs at 60 fps if that's what you're asking.
can you do this after you get other party members?
As far as I know, yeah. I haven't tried it myself but it should work.
@@Nillerz sorry if this is annoying, been trying to get it for a few days. not sure if this is a dumb q but how do i know how many frames have passed? playing on 3ds
Good luck!
How do I get out of debug menu without crashing?
Do you mean after you've opened it? Unfortunately, it seems to be luck based... From what I've used, IBNT [Goto Event] seems to work more consistently than IDU [Goto Area], but going to events isn't always ideal. Sorry for the kind of not-answer, I'm not really sure :(
I recommend just keep trying, and then once you teleport to wherever you're trying to go just let it run for a couple minutes and see if it fixes itself, then close any menus that pop up. Some textures might be messed up, but going back and forth through a door should fix it.
Or you could use the menu to give yourself some skip sandwiches and try to clip back out, not sure if that would work though.
@@Nillerz Yeah thanks, I used IDU and a savestate, crashed like 2 times but totally worth it to see that humongous dungeon man following me haha
Can I do this on my phone emulator?
I'm not very familiar with emulators, but as long as there's a way to connect a second player controller it should be possible (assuming you're not emulating the GBA version of the game).
@@Nillerz don't worry! Figured it out!!! Had to use a game genie code. Was sooooo tired of grinding sword of kings. Already Lvl 90 with the whole party and been grinding for days on end.
@@mauriciozavala5852 Nice! Hope you had fun messing around with it.
How's the Sword of Kings grind going?
How do you do this on the 3ds virtual console?
Ah, I hadn't thought of that. I looked into it and it seems possible, but a lot tougher. The inputs are the same, but you'd need to press R+L+Y in order to switch to the 2nd player, then after releasing a button while in 2nd player mode, switch back to player 1 with the R+L+Y again and then press down, right, A, B, and Y (after 11 or 13 frames of releasing the button on 2 player mode). Let me know if you need further explanation.
Also sorry for the late reply.
Can you do this on the original SNES version? If so, is it the same as doing it on the Wii U? I have an og SNES with the Earthbound game (yes this cost me a lot of money) and I want to know if I can do this?
@@ninten1305 HOW DID I MISS THIS I'M SO SORRY
Yes, it is possible on original hardware. Same exact method as on Wii U, you just can't use save states which is unfortunate due to the game's tendency to crash during the process.
Again I'm so so sorry for the extremely late reply but I hope this helps.
@@Nillerz Its okay thanks for taking the time to respond anyway! I’ve managed to do it on the original hardware despite it continuously crashing.
@@ninten1305 Wow, that's really impressive!
wait wait how to exit that place??
TRP-T - [Teleport] is your best bet for going anywhere. It'll take you to pretty much wherever you want, but from my experience it's possible for the game to crash after this going to your selected area. IDU - [Go to area] works too, but seems to be even more inconsistent from my experience.
If you're trying to get back to Onett, use IDU and then go to ONtT.
Hope this helps. Sorry for the late reply.
Edit: Mixed up TRP-T and IDU
Edit 2: Hey, I know it's been a month but I feel this is important enough to edit this comment.
I just re-did the process and for whatever reason TRP-T isn't working for me at all now, but IDU is pretty consistent.
It seems to be pretty random, so try both and see what works best.
Bro I would pay someone to do this for me I've been doing it for around 1 or 2 hours now on the snes mini classic and it's driving me insane could anyone help??
I Play It On Nintendo Switch Online
Moar eb content bro
I'm working on a few things right now, I just have a hard time actually going anywhere with my ideas.
Anything specific you want to see?
Easier way use noclip
Frames? What the fuck is a frame?
