I saw this vid about a year ago.. and could NOT forget about how cool this instrument sounds. I love mountain folk and gospel music. I bought myself a Merlin about 2 weeks ago and I'm having a blast. TY for uploading such a wonderful vid. Beautiful voice. Keep having fun and playing... that's what it's all about !
I live in TN. also. I just ordered a Seagull Merlin. I can't wait until it comes in. I tuned in for ideas. Love your video. Please do more. There aren't enough vids for people to learn. Thank you 😊
What??? I just went to look for a more recent video to compare you (like you said in the video) and this is the only one! What's up with that? I enjoyed this, and what an amazing house and view! If you live there, I'm green with envy. Well, post at least one more video of you playing the merlin so we can see how much you've grown. I'm thinking about buying one of those and it encourages me to see others play.
You have a very beautiful voice. It was soothing to hearm. I also have a merlin! Ive had it for almost a month and am really connecting a lot with it. It is such a fun instrument
Wow, Yeah, I know, a couple of glitches on the strum, but who cares - you have such a beautiful natural and joyful voice! I just got one of these neat little instruments myself and am having a blast with it. I need to get over my performance shyness and just start singing along with it just like you've done here. Thanks for the performance!
Thank you for sharing. Your singing reminds me of my sweet ex-wife, who also has an angelic voice. Plus we also sang "I'll fly away" in Alfred E. Brumley's hometown of Hartford, AR. That place reminds me of the mountains in your video...so thank you for that too!! Have a wonderful day!!
I only have a mountain dulcimer, of those type of instruments anyways. I have a hard time playing chords, besides what I count as "power chords" like the ones on guitar, the instrument I have the most skill with haha but that sounded better than I could do. Congrats!
You have a beautiful voice but do yourself a huge favour and invest time in learning to strum a regular rhythm. It's so all over the place that it makes the song difficult to listen to which is a great shame because both you and the instrument sound really good. Like most things, investing time in the basics really will pay dividends but, as the cliché goes, don't try to run before you can walk. Nail your strumming and you really will fly!!!
Totally agree! Which is why I included the disclaimer above.... ;-) .... "So far my strumming technique is embarrassingly horrible and I have a LOT more practicing to do, but this video just goes to show you that you can pick this stick dulcimer up and start playing something that resembles a song very quickly. Haven't played guitar for YEARS so I am, essentially, a beginner at this point. Can't wait to keep learning and to improve my strumming/PICKIN style." I am a serious novice, folks, as you can obviously tell. Between two boys, a job, school, a farm.... haven't been able to play on an instrument AT ALL these past years. It'll happen soon. My kids are starting to leave me alone a little bit. PHEW! HAHA!
That was Not blather.... Do Not let the negative comments get to you. You were expressing yourself as you are which is a beautiful thing. In fact Thanks for the introduction. You have a beautiful voice and you already addressed that it's a new instrument to you, so let that Haters Hate because they don not have the guts to make a video themselves of trying something new, and continue your precious gift of creativity because at least you are using it. keep Shinning your Music as you Find Wild Fruit! Blessings!
Beautiful! Can't help thinking God's smiling..that's my!! Girl. So real.

Literally 3 minutes of blather before the song. Do yourself a favour and skip to 3:00
BAHAHAHH!! Agree! I DID warn folks about the blather. ;-) "* Song finally begins after all my yakking at minute 3:00...."
Sounds like a really nice person. Shame you look at the comments and have to come across wankers like you.
If you don't like it, leave.
