I've said this before, but the Incarnates mirror the Elemental Lords heavily to a degree. The 2 Incarnates we were truly against were Fyrakk and Raszageth. Fire and Air (if you associate Storm with Wind). And the 2 Lords we fought and killed in the Cataclysm are Ragnaros and Ala'kir. Fire and Air again. If Vyranoth is Water/Ice then just like Neptulon, she was destined to help us players. And Iridikron and Therazane, both of earth, just want to work alone. Albeit Therazane helps us while Iridikron is forever against us. The parallels are scary close.

I will say though. I do believe that cinematic where Malfurion and Tyrande kiss is indeed the first time we see such a display of affection in the game in general from any couple in warcraft.

We all know what they're gearing up for there i think...
Between Baldurs Gate 3's sex pestering and the polyamorous throuple questline in DF, I think we're approaching a bit too much "sex positivity" in gaming. A weird kind: where you can't have women in scant clothes, but you can have the strangest most deviant behaviors positively depicted.
If we must have couples kissing and modern furry fetish stuff, can we at least have the Gen X power fantasy TOO? Like... both? Not one instead of?
I guess I'm still just in the bargaining phase, but Metzen is my last hope.

@OrchinX just letting you know that as a twenty somthing, I've met many poly couples/people in a poly relationship offline just living in a city (I met all these people in contexts that were not inherently sexual btw). Not really what i would call degenerate.

I think they're just finally comfortable having characters physically interact in in-game model cutscenes, which would be way harder to animate in a natural way before the new style they adopted in Shadowlands. I realized this when I saw the first hugs between Ysera and Merithra, and Malfurion and Tyrande, earlier in the expansion. I don't think kisses have been that rare in novels and comics..?

@@JaxKangaroo HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Mate, compared to the trolls, you're literary Blizzard's goldenboys.
I can count up to around twenty fat victories the Elves (counting you're mutated cousins as well) have had throughout the lore. You know how many the trolls has had? The Aqir-war. That's it. It's just been down-fucking-hill for the trolls since then. Zul'Farrak is just a wasteland now, Zul'Drak is mostly just gone at this point, Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman has taken so many beatings the past thirty years that it's just proof of the trolls' resilience that they are still around today (though weakened to a shameful degree), and Zandalar has become a shitty little island with only one third of the damn place being somewhat inhabitable, with the other two being a giant desert that is used as a death sentence and a rotting swamp that contemplates that usage just as much.
The only trolls who's gotten at least some wins are the Darkspear, and they are probably the most underused Horde faction in the game (if you don't count the Horde-pandaren), especially if you compare them to the orcs, blood elves or Forsaken.
Also, what misunderstandings are there about the kaldorei? You're a bunch of tree-hugging, mutated, arrogant asshats who blew up the planet and thinks you're the eternal victims of the lore, even though you've caused all of the problems you've faced since the shattering. You're literary just better-looking Draenai, that is to say arrogant asshats who's caused most of the problems in the WC-universe.

Certianly does feel like Horde/Alliance is now old news, the next three expansions look bigger than tribal warfare, cities are starting to be joint sanctuaries, a good chunk of the old characters are "resting", feels like Wow2 will be at the end of all this. Can't wait!

Never considered that! If anyone deserves a happy ending it’s Tyrande & Malfurion. For 10,000 years they out their responsibilities to their people and their world before themselves. Forced to exist in separate planes of existence most of that time. Havjng their people loose their homeland 3 times. And only ever being able to be together when times were bad and druids could be awakened. And their love never faltered or faded in all of that. They deserve a happy ending and Shandris is the only choice to replace them.

I will say about Iridikron being team void. I disagree. I feel he is not sided with void but rather just allied with it due to having a common enemy. I don't think Xal'atath is fully aligned with the Void. To be fair I don't think the cosmological forces identify factions.
It's rather about the nature of the beings, more than about their goals and team membership.

These last expansions have been quite on the nose with a general feel. Passing of the torch.
Even though changes of leadership has been an aspect featured in the past constantly, these had always been presented through either urgency requiring the leader to be away because of a great danger or through a dramatic death that made our hearts grief.
I think it's somewhat beautiful that we are lately seeing things like with Genn and Tess or Tyrande and Shandris where the parents are being proud to pass on leadership to their child, these having taken the lessons they could from them and even more lessons from their surrounding allies and friends.
It's special. It feels special. No lord admiral's wife needing to be rekindled with family, no unprepared warchief having to take over leadership because the right heir for the post (never forgotten, Dranosh Saurfang) died, no last stand for a Warrior king trying to save their friends against the legion nor a dying Shadowhunter being manipulated behind the scenes.
Just a parent proud of the lessons learnt by their descendant.

I have a theory after seeing the dragons being aspekts again, Elune while being the moon is actually part of the earth. Like with our real earth and moon who were once one and separated in a great explosion. (maybe the titan was the reason for the explosion or the old gods). She is separated from the earth but still connected to it. She is the mother of life (at least the kaldorai and ysera and I doubt it just them). The dragons got their blessing from azeroth when Amirdrassil took roots in azeroth and the seed was born from Elune/Tyrandes tear.

I mean sure, but by making shandris the defacto leader then thats basically once again changing the night elf societal culture. In the past it was nobles and mages leading the society. In current wow it was druid and priestesses leading the society. Yes shandris does have some priestess training and a strong ability giveb by Elune, however she never referred to herself as a priestess. So that means now they wont have a high priestess leading the society anymore, but i guess it would be more like how during war of ancients the defenders dependedvon the nobility of ravenguard and his warriors to lead for awhile until making jarod shadowsong the main leader.
I have no real issue of them doing this, but they need to do more to show these changes in game.

I am honestly getting a little frustrated with stories, where they choose to portray a villain as cool, collected, and intelligent, and then they make the decision of allying with something that wants them dead, as if the pitiless and apathetic hunger of the void, isn't going to also swallow them whole. He allies with the Void because he trusts its hunger to exterminate the Titans, but he should also know, without a shadow of a doubt, just what the Void actually wants. And if he can't wipe out the titans themselves on his own, what in the blazes makes him think he can stand against the Void?
I would believe that Fyrakk would lack the intelligence and foresight necessary, to make such a stupid bargain. But Iridikron has been made out to be a very intelligent character. Intelligent enough that he should know that allying with the all-consuming, reality-destroying force that is the Void, is a plain *stupid* idea.
It kind of leaves me with the only conclusion being, that the writers don't really understand it themselves. Which just leaves me with the question of, when and how Iridikron is gonna realise that he picked a whole field's worth of oopsie-daisies. Because it's going to happen. He will be betrayed, corrupted, or killed by players before anything happens, and my money isn't on the third option.
Perhaps there is the fourth option, of him already being corrupted and controlled, and that is why he's doing this in the first place. It's the only way his actions would make sense, even though that's a story thread they have used several times in the past, and it's getting a little old.

    • @Biffbifflin
      @Biffbifflin 8 місяців тому +3

I don't know, I get the impression that Iridikron might be one of the first characters who takes advantage of the void rather than becomes consumed by it. His choice of words-"I trust its hunger"-read to me as if he is just directing the primal forces of the void to a larger threat. I don't believe he sees the void as allies, but rather "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of situation. Xal'atath obviously is going the be the bigger villain in the grand scheme of things, or at least a Gul'dan-type figure who brings forth the "big bad" of the void, wheres Iridikron is kind of an Illidan-type character-just replace Sargeras with the greater Titan Pantheon.

    • @1Kapuchu100

@@Biffbifflin But that is exactly the issue. The Void is not something you can direct, let alone control. It is one of the two fundamental forces of that entirety reality. It is not an entity you can reason with, or make bargains with. He might be able to unleash it upon Azeroth to "cleanse it of the Titans' influence", but there's no way to control when it stops. It's The Void. It's ONLY goal is to consume and corrupt. And one of the things it WANTS to consume and corrupt, is Azeroth.
This is why I made that comment about the writers, because they are making him out to be someone who "takes advantage of the void", but it's like someone taking advantage of a tidal wave. You can set up a little wall of sandbags to direct it towards your annoying neighbour all you want, but it's a tidal wave that's not going to be stopped by a mere few hundred pounds of sand. It will just wash over your house as well, destroying everything. If he really thinks he can direct, let alone control the void, then he is an idiot. The Void isn't going to just stop once the Titans' influence is gone. It's going to consume until Azeroth is completely theirs, which is antithesis to his goal. He wants Azeroth to be "pure", free of outside influences. Unleashing the Void upon it, is the single most self-defeating thing he can do to achieve that goal.
If they make it out to him being corrupted, then his actions make sense as they serve the ultimate goals of the Void itself, but that has been done several times before and I don't think that will be very interesting, which makes me somewhat doubt that as being the "truth".

Why does she have blue hair and an English accent? Because the devs do, and they admire that sort of thing. It’s the kind of thing that’s just the real-life values of the authors written into the work wholecloth, without using any literary devices or clever lampshading.
The night elves, for example, have blue and purple hair, and are even matriarchal. Why doesn’t this bother the traditional fantasy gamer? Because it is coherent to the narrative. Their hair is naturally that color, and their magical physiology means that dynamic is believable.
