Hey Fellas! Season 03 threw a wrench into a ton of these. I will be making an updated vid for S03 as well as a new Gimmicks and Blockstrings video for this season!
Floor 9 Chipp player looking to level up his gameplan, here. Not only is this incredibly well-edited, I love the subtle visual edits in Phaze's gameplay that highlight the key points without making it difficult to see. A+ video.
This expanded my mind so much. I was already trying to figure out other ways to set up the corner 50/50 and I found a couple besides setting up double alpha blade. This video however just lays it all out for me. Incredibly well done
I've been playing Chipp for roughly 250 hours and I am not gonna lie this video is going to help me make even fancier combos. The best thing about playing chipp is, that you always learn something new no matter how much time you spend on it.
@@CharacterCrisisTV I come from nrs titles and the true mix behind chipp was totally lost to me and this really helped me understand so thanks again. Gg strive is my first gg so I needed the help lol thanks again
All of this was super helpful, but an especially potent "aha!" moment for me was seeing j.236P used at the end of a combo that wont quite let you meet them on the ground in the corner to wallrun cancel down on top of their wakeup
As a Pot-head, it’s important for me to meditate upon what options one of my natural enemies has. I mean... I’m still going to be fishing for that Bust, but knowing ahead of time the many ways I may be schmixed is reassuring.
hhahaha. Not for nothing, I know a few Pot mains that frequent my channel. Ya'll aint shit getting the juicy counterplay and plotting on my fellow ninja brothers haha. Cheers man!
This is pure diamond that you uploaded tysm ! I was Always lurking for phazex replays/twitter videos to dig these nasty setups and couldn't figure out all of them One thing i'm having difficulty with however is reversals and wakeup throws (and god knows how much these Leo/sol/ky mains LOVE to spam it) Is it that my timing is simply Bad ? Many Times I go for a 236p uncling in the corner into crossup j.s and my opponents simply block and throw me as soon as chipp landed After the j.s Any advice would be welcomed :3
For DP reversals, your leaf grab wins, every time. So if you think a sol or ky or leo is going to wake up DP toss out a command grab and that will keep them at bay. Also meaty timing slightly varies from character to character so make sure you go into training mode and practice this heavily. Due to throws being 2 frames you need to be extremely ON POINT with your timing or else they will beat you every time.
Amazing, and here I thought maybe the developping of the meta was winding down lol, there is SO MUCH to learn and do! High level Chipp can be an absolute nightmare.
Yeah man. The meta is constantly developing with this character. It's great. Chipp is the man. There are OTG setups that I haven't even touched on. This man's kit is completely stacked.
@@CharacterCrisisTV OTG yeah, it seems like proper Chipp requires constant OTG stuff and wallrun resets. NOBODY was really doing them a couple of months ago. I´ve been using shuriken a lot more recently (never used it before) and it´s great specially to break an opponent´s balance, you know, their rythm...Anyway You could easily make videos like this one for every one of his special moves (many of his normals as well as you already did with close S) It drives me insane how people can still say Strive is a shallow game.
@@botero01 Yeah man. Strive will be a very different game a year or two from now for sure. The future of fighting games looks very bright. Here's a present ua-cam.com/video/MrF_Cdaoxqo/v-deo.html
Another thing I wanted to add: Alpha blades can actually be used to great effect in neutral. If you think of it as "drawing a line". There is a lot to be explored there I think, even before considering RC stuff.
Absolutely. K alpha to PRC is a great way to skip neutral and get your pressure going. I was so mad, I had a ton of RC stuff I forgot to add in. I might need to make a part two for all the stuff that I left out
@@CharacterCrisisTV These guides are really great, and really great edited, they really make me want to play more (I do play quite a bit). Looking forward to more Chipp stuff in the future, definitively subscribed.
Thanks for watching!! I was actually going to do his Kick Mix pressure next. But maybe I can tie it win with his rekkas as well. Let me think of a script!
Not really a fighting game term. Moresoe refers to Chipp. Just means, the act of sticking to the wall and then the dropping from it. Its just a mechanic that chipp has in this game.
I'm trying to do the cross up at 1:14 but can't find any guides online for it :( Whenever I try using alpha blade and holding it then letting go Chipp will run up the wall and then jump away from the opponent like the first two examples. Any way I can guarantee getting between the opponent and the wall? Any help appreciated 🙏
So for cross up High or low you want to hold p-alpha after you knock them down. this will send you wall-running. Immediately after you enter your p alpha animation while holding (P) - you want to then hold down. This will make Chip fall from the wallrun the first frame possible. Once you finish you can IAD back JS for the high, or just let yourself drop for the 2k low. Hope this helps. As for the same-side I suggest using JD Instead of JS
@@thesparrow1116 No problem! IAD means instant air dash. VERY important to all anime fighting games. Hope this helps :). ALSO, if you google fighting game glossary it will take to one of the best resources in the FG space.
@@CharacterCrisisTV Oooh I should probably switch to using the dash button then, too used to double tapping to air dash so I'll change that. Thank you so much for the advice!
@@Conner536 Gotcha gotcha. That one is my bad, you want to use JD instead or JS so that I can hit sameside universally. That's my bad. Here's an example ua-cam.com/video/vdR9_nWuuIU/v-deo.html
No problem. That's my bad for not going in depth. Next time I do my best to explain. So for High, you have to slightly delay the 236k after the 2D. This will let you come in high for a meaty. For a meaty Low, you have to immediately 236k after the 2d, almost as if you're trying to combo 2d > 236k. Hope that makes sense. This will let you low on their wake up perfectly (They can back dash both options, so use this when they don't see it coming).
Yes! Go for k alpha uncling instead if you want to do same side. It is more obvious but its much easier. If you want to stick with p alpha though, then you have to immediately p alpha after you sweep them. Then as soon as you're above their head drop, wait a few frames then air dash and press Slash. It's a very tight window.
@@alphaclunk I actually found a better way to get same side without any timing. Just jump dust after you push off the wall. Cool thing about this is since you face the other way you can chuck a shuriken after the blocked air dust
