Paul Raven remains a criminally underrated bass player. His lines were simple but tasty, providing a groove that Youth's work for KJ (brilliant as it is in its own right) doesn't have.
Probably one of the best bass covers I've ever heard, the riffs were perfect and you nailed the sound! I don't know if you still play anymore, but I'd love to see more covers in the future if you have the time!
All of y'all saying "you need the tab for this" are you fucking kidding me?? Watch this man playing it here, that's all you need...geez. great job my bass broth btw ;)
My friend...Happiness is an understatement. This is great to hear not just for the people that like to cover songs and do what they do best, as with Bill, but for the people that love watching his magic fingers play perfectly clean and on time.
For those searching for a tab, it's an easy bassline. You can listen to Eighties (Kid Jensen Seesion) as a bonus track in the last CD edition of "Night Time". The bassline is clear even if 2 small variations are added....a bit boring sometimes to play always the same thing :). On the CD "Wilful Days", another version of Eighties called "Serious Dance Mix" with some parts with only the bassline...but one note is different from the original one.
Fantastic stuff mate. Earlier KJ material had some brilliant basslines. Love Like Blood is an absolute classic. If you get the chance you should try doing some of the early stuff by The Cult. Jamie Stewarts playing is simple but very catchy. Resurrection Joe is a good one.
Hey, great stuff mate, I love killing Joke and you nailed it. Are those your ballet shoes in the background? Lol, sorry, couldn't resist. No, this is great, makes me want to go get my bass and rock.
Thanks, and sorry about the delay in getting back to you. It's a 1984 J,K. Lado, just look up J.K. Lado on google. He made some serious guitars back then and still does. Take care and keep in touch my friend. -Billy
Please god tell me this isn't copy-righted. I think I might die if your account is suspended again, you're by far my favorite person to watch on UA-cam, at least as far as cover artists go, which is saying something.
so I look at this man and he reminds me of someone who used to play in a group with his interesting past, not like the young guys, he’s really cool even though the video has been around for 10 years
Have to be honest never heard of the band or that brand of bass....but i gotta say that is a cool tone ...what strings and what are you playing through? my son plays i just video tape he will love this, thanks for posting your stuff very much enjoyed it.
Hi Billy, I have a J.K. Lado Model Solo IV lefty bought in 1981. Thru neck body. Heavy weight but it sound amazing. Unfortunately, with the years the neck has twist and last year, I ordered to P.Laporte in Montreal to built a new neck with a smaller head stock. Pierre gaves to this bass a new life. Dimarzzio jazz bass on the bridge and dimarzzio P bass pick up on the neck. Tomtebass has right, the bass sound like a Ric.
Billy, Did you change the tune on the bass to play this song. My bass is tuned that I play from E and in that case I start from flat E string. I think I see you are starting from what would be in my case upper F. Pls clarify. Thanks in advance
That tooooone
DAMN fine job
he is like a husband who closed himself from his wife and writes down his covers recalling and yearning for the past
in his cave for men
@@marcotaf6744 of course)))

That tone is beautiful.
My friend...Happiness is an understatement. This is great to hear not just for the people that like to cover songs and do what they do best, as with Bill, but for the people that love watching his magic fingers play perfectly clean and on time.
Excellent going, Bill! Out of all your basses, I think this has to be one of my favorites.
For those searching for a tab, it's an easy bassline. You can listen to Eighties (Kid Jensen Seesion) as a bonus track in the last CD edition of "Night Time". The bassline is clear even if 2 small variations are added....a bit boring sometimes to play always the same thing :).

@JkeBoxHero Drive it like you stole it. 1985 J.K. Lado, I added some active EMGs for good measure.
Prego!
Nice cover and quality (especially for 2009), don't even have to search for a tab.
great
AwesomelyDone!
great song ! nice cover and tone , tuning for the whole album is 1°F - 2°C - 3°G - 4°D
In a guitarist but I still think this guy is awesome(especially anyone who likes or has heard of k.j.)
Brilliant way to learn , for me anyway
Good old Raven.
nice.
so I look at this man and he reminds me of someone who used to play in a group with his interesting past, not like the young guys, he’s really cool even though the video has been around for 10 years
Now i know how to annoy my roommates (this song is good, but i don't imagine they could handle it for very long)
strong cover and strong tash
Have to be honest never heard of the band or that brand of bass....but i gotta say that is a cool tone ...what strings and what are you playing through? my son plays i just video tape he will love this, thanks for posting your stuff very much enjoyed it.

Billy,
Did you change the tune on the bass to play this song. My bass is tuned that I play from E and in that case I start from flat E string. I think I see you are starting from what would be in my case upper F. Pls clarify. Thanks in advance
