Adam may have blocked me on Twitter but it doesn't change the fact that he will always be my biggest influence in video game analysis. His tenure on rev3games revolutionized the way I appreciate video games and the way he writes his reviews are just thought-provoking. His genuine thoughts on games are an art form in and of themselves that I keep coming back to his old works just to reignite my interest in video games as the state of gaming today is utterly uninspiring. Thank you for providing an opportunity to hear him again.

He's still crazy he just doesnt use a platform to bring it out to the public. That is also why he didnt seem crazy 20 years ago, he had no social media platform to show everyone who he really is.
This was really good. This is the Adam i loved and idolized growing up. Its unfortunate that after almost 20 years, I finally got to talk to him on Twitter and he misunderstood me, labeled me as a racist, and blocked me :( I still watch old X-Play on UA-cam to this day.
Unfortunately he's one of those uninformed white knights who has that "you're either 100% with us or 100% against us" mentality. "Racist" seems to be the default "I don't have a counter argument" retort for those idiots.
This was a great interview. I liked that this interview was not only well structured, but talked about both the good and the bad times in a balanced manner. Some interviewers ONLY want to talk about the drama or try to push a guest to get a reaction out of them. I'm glad that this was able to capture all of Adam Sessler's professional journey and not just his time during the short-lived revival of G4.
Thank you for watching & the kind words. Yeah I got some amount of feedback from some who felt I was too kind. I just as a rule try to be fair to everyone & since that negative side is very well documented focus more on his achievements. But I really do respect what Sessler built & his understanding of the media & his communication skills are still so strong. People hate him now because they perceived what he came away from. But many people mad now either don't remember G4 or have let time yellow their memory of it. I don't blame them, I misremember a lot myself but I thought I'd focus on the positive & cover this amazing story that outside of someone like Chris Gore (another solid interview imo) few people have spoken about. Sorry to be so wordy in my response, but I think people have forgotten what it was like when geek culture was something you were normally bullied over. Adam Sessler paved a big role in helping to change that.
The new G4 shut down for the same reason why the old G4 shut down, it was run by out of touch executives. Wokeness is not welcome in entertainment but the new executives thought otherwise and they paid the price for it.
It was definitely a factor, the question is was it the biggest one. I think incompetence & mismanagement were greater, this is based on my own research & reporting but we perhaps for sure may never know.

It’s wild, listening to Adam for most of this video he’s still the great, charming personality I’ve always expected. Genuinely, that’s always who I always thought he was. But man he gets talking about social media and Twitter and you can see the troll seething under the surface and it’s just 😬. It’s honestly hard to see past what an angry, hate filled old man yelling at clouds he is to the younger generations of gamers. Twitter ruined him and exposed a lot of who he is. This is a really great video, and thank you for doing this interview.

I need to watch out for myself so I'm as guilty as anyone getting eaten by that beast. It's harder to engage with your fans & ignore the haters at the same time than I understood before I started this channel.
@@HappyWarrior oh absolutely, social media as small to medium sized audiences vs. being a known personality has to be entirely different. Unlike with Frosk who seems genuine on and offscreen, like you see what you get with her and it’s sad that she got pushed under the G4 truck. Adam is just….clearly a personality for TV and an angry, fuming man in private or behind the scenes. The best thing for Adam is to just keep offline, he just can’t control himself. Again, really enjoyed your interview!
for me 2 things were right on point for the G4TV revival: AOTS and Adam's retro reviews from the Sesspool. Ol' Uncle Adam still rocks! Losers keep crying.

I know Adam Sessler has gotten pitchforks thrown at him over the past several years, but I want to give him some props for now being one of the Elder Gods of video game journalism/criticism and paving the way along with Morgan Webb for making reviewing and covering video games entertaining.

The "woke" panic is the stupidest thing on the planet and it's infecting so many people. Girl says "no death or rape threats just because I'm a woman you disagree with pls" he agrees with it..... "GO WOKE GO BROKE! WOKE KILLS ALL! WOKE IS BAD! THEY HATE ALL OF THEIR FANS!!" It's fucking insane. It was insane in 2021, it was insane when people continued to send threats and attack anyone from the channel - including people not involved with the "infamous" speech- and it's still insane to *this day* how worked up people are about it. "Woke" isn't real. Calls for being decent human beings should never be scrutinized as so divisive.

Fascinating interview. Being a Brit I never saw the original G4TV and only heard of the reboot after all the drama kicked off. Sessler comes across as very personable and amenable in this but I've just got to point out the part where he states "the right wing was very happy" about the Frosk rant and subsequent collapse. I really think he's missing the point here. While I agree with some of the points she made I found the way she did it appalling (and I consider myself on the left btw). Attacking the audience is never the way to go. Be more classy. Irony being 2 minutes later he's talking about Kylie Jenner and saying "everything is too binary". Ouch. Politics should be an attribute - not an "identity".
After he blocked me on twitter for saying it made me sad that one of the people who made me feel like I wasn't alone as a kid was being so divisive, that's sort of my conclusion. If he had real social media back then. I think he would've burned out quicker
I love Adam. I never knew about his show during most of the ZDTV/TechTV days but I did watch X-Play off and on starting around the time Morgan joined until ealry-mid 2005. In December 2004 I was injured at work and was on worker's comp for a few years after so I was at home a lot and in early-mid 2005 I started watching X-Play (and G4 in general) pretty religiously. Their E3 and Comic Con coverage was always like early Christmas. I was very disappointed when they gave Adam the boot in 2012 and only kept watching X-Play because of Morgan. I tried the "reboot" version of G4 almost exclusively due to Adam's and Kevin's involvement. I watched both versions of the network all the way to their respective very ends.
So this is Adam when he isn't being outright insane, hateful and hostile. Still hasn't restored my respect for him after the way he's acted, not one bit, but still.

i really enjoyed this interview, amazing job humanizing adam. his hatred and savagery on twitter is legendary and its nice to be reminded there is more to him, that the old adam i grew up with is still there. missed opprutinitites, ive heard he is a drug addict. plenty of videos of him acting strange tho ive heard its his personality qorks i would have liked him to be asked. again i wish u asked adam specifically on some of his tweets, him wishing death on family members for their political views or wishing ppl drink piss are prob his most known tweets. would like to see him explain that. adam indeed came back to twitter to tweet that he is leaving as he would expire if he stayed, some think he is sucidal. for someone who can manupilate his detractors to his own ends all he does is take massive Ls. to the point of his memoir bein in jeopardy. frosk didnt desotry g4 but she did turn a large part of the gaminging community into haters of the show and cheered its demise, she did that where it wod have died with a whimper and no one wod have noticed or cared. adam and frosk wer both chased out of the gaming space and are pariahs. u keep sayin that we misunderstood what frosk rant was about, thats not true. she indeed did blame on gamers, its her fault for not clarifying what she actually meant tho i wodnt beleive her anyways as i would think she is doin damage control. thats her fault, dont blame me for taking her at her word and not liking what i heard.

32:30 I want to know what the 5 (or 13) eras of XPlay were! I just divide it up into: 1. Extended Play (on Tech TV, 2001 to 2003) 2. Xplay on Tech TV (2003 to 2004) 3. Xplay on G4 - the best years (2004 to 2007) 4. Xplay on G4 - the slow decline years (2007 to 2010). The era of COPS and Star Trek TNG reruns, and Ninja Warrior - which was cool at first) 5. Xplay from 2010 to 2013 - the "fast decline" years. Should've arguably ended with the 1,000th episode of Xplay in early 2010.

Enjoyed the interview. However I wish you had asked him his thoughts on Jirard the Completionist and the events that had happened to him after G4 collapsed and if he had any inkling to Jirards character.
In retrospect I wish I had. Adam's condition for the interview is that he was comfortable with people taking a crap on him but he didn't want to be responsible for others getting crapped on. So I was trying to obey his condition to keep others out of it for the most part.
I am only 2 minutes in and I'm already obsessed with trying to identify all of the graphic novels and oversized comic collections on the shelf behind Adam. Pretty sure that's Fear Agent and Criminal on the third shelf... definitely Absolute Swamp Thing top center and Transmetropolitan leading off the front... 🤔

Wow.... Sessler got better after giving up social media. This is how I remember him.
He was always crazy bro, he just kept it to himself since he didnt use social media.
After he blocked me on twitter for saying it made me sad that one of the people who made me feel like I wasn't alone as a kid was being so divisive, that's sort of my conclusion. If he had real social media back then. I think he would've burned out quicker

I love Adam. I never knew about his show during most of the ZDTV/TechTV days but I did watch X-Play off and on starting around the time Morgan joined until ealry-mid 2005. In December 2004 I was injured at work and was on worker's comp for a few years after so I was at home a lot and in early-mid 2005 I started watching X-Play (and G4 in general) pretty religiously. Their E3 and Comic Con coverage was always like early Christmas. I was very disappointed when they gave Adam the boot in 2012 and only kept watching X-Play because of Morgan. I tried the "reboot" version of G4 almost exclusively due to Adam's and Kevin's involvement. I watched both versions of the network all the way to their respective very ends.

i really enjoyed this interview, amazing job humanizing adam. his hatred and savagery on twitter is legendary and its nice to be reminded there is more to him, that the old adam i grew up with is still there. missed opprutinitites, ive heard he is a drug addict. plenty of videos of him acting strange tho ive heard its his personality qorks i would have liked him to be asked. again i wish u asked adam specifically on some of his tweets, him wishing death on family members for their political views or wishing ppl drink piss are prob his most known tweets. would like to see him explain that.
adam indeed came back to twitter to tweet that he is leaving as he would expire if he stayed, some think he is sucidal. for someone who can manupilate his detractors to his own ends all he does is take massive Ls. to the point of his memoir bein in jeopardy. frosk didnt desotry g4 but she did turn a large part of the gaminging community into haters of the show and cheered its demise, she did that where it wod have died with a whimper and no one wod have noticed or cared. adam and frosk wer both chased out of the gaming space and are pariahs.
u keep sayin that we misunderstood what frosk rant was about, thats not true. she indeed did blame on gamers, its her fault for not clarifying what she actually meant tho i wodnt beleive her anyways as i would think she is doin damage control. thats her fault, dont blame me for taking her at her word and not liking what i heard.

1. Extended Play (on Tech TV, 2001 to 2003)
2. Xplay on Tech TV (2003 to 2004)
3. Xplay on G4 - the best years (2004 to 2007)
4. Xplay on G4 - the slow decline years (2007 to 2010). The era of COPS and Star Trek TNG reruns, and Ninja Warrior - which was cool at first)
5. Xplay from 2010 to 2013 - the "fast decline" years. Should've arguably ended with the 1,000th episode of Xplay in early 2010.

Enjoyed the interview. However I wish you had asked him his thoughts on Jirard the Completionist and the events that had happened to him after G4 collapsed and if he had any inkling to Jirards character.
In retrospect I wish I had. Adam's condition for the interview is that he was comfortable with people taking a crap on him but he didn't want to be responsible for others getting crapped on. So I was trying to obey his condition to keep others out of it for the most part.

He has scolded and ‘wished harm’ on family members because of their political beliefs…. he immediately blocks anyone that challenges His twisted view on the world This guy is INSANE . Maybe he’s trying to cope with the fact that people watched x play for Morgan Webb and he was always the sidekick.
