I still run an old ms310 that i bought used at the pawnshop in like 2011. I opened the muffler up and retuned the carburetor. Its been a great firewood saw over the years. I run a 33rs chisel chain on its 20" bar and it cuts with authority. Used a ms441c as my big saw with a 28" bar until last year when it flooded and ruined it. I bought a used ms400c back in the summer and really love it with a 25" skiptooth chisel chain. It weighs about the same as the ms310,but alot more power. Use good oil and gas and that stihl will last you a long time.
@ciphercode2298 that's awesome man !!! That's why I take good care of my saws I want them to last a life time!! Plus I learned how to repair them myself if anything happens. What oil do you like to run ?
@demetriogranados3879 no,I've never looked, but my plugs stay pretty clean. For a long time I used stihl ultra, but switched after watching a few videos that criticized pretty bad. I get the lucas for $11.99 a quart and it gets good reviews. My old ms310 and ms441c probably both had 1000 hours on them( just a guess). The 441 was in my basement workshop taken apart for a new throttle cable when we got a flash flood from rain off a hurricane and our power was out for a few days. My basement had 4ft of water in it and ruined the saw. I did check the compression on the ms310 back in the summer and it still has 150psi
@ciphercode2298 sounds like it's working great !!! That's amazing compression for a saw with that many hours. Hopefully I get similar performance and durability from my saws. I take care of them really well
@@demetriogranados3879 that 311 is sick. Super dope idea swapping the cylinder. I’m falling timber on the Oregon coast right now and I am running my little 400c. It’s so light and fun to drop stuff with. Once that saw breaks in it’s going to be nasty.
@@demetriogranados3879 I’m in a class right now. It’s a tree felling course called The Art Of Felling Timber. Two days we go out w/ instructors and cut. I cut 3 trees yesterday which isn’t much but they were good size out here on the coast. But I’m getting into to doing it full time.
Like the other comments say it is a bit rich but Id guess it is a new top end. It can be leaned out after break in and it will perform much better but I would ask Joe what rpm he recommends after break in. Cheers
@MDGARY33 ill check it out. How expensive is it ? Only reason I'm asking is because I have about an acre of land to clear and fuel is already expensive as is
@MDGARY33 Yeah I looked it up yes I love VP racing products I use their oils and fuel. But I mix my own. I used there 2 stroke oil and mix it with 92 octane ethanol free fuel. Performs very well and runs super clean
Thanks for sharing cool video

Great gain from a clam shell engine. Dyno Joe does good work. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
@frankz1125 yes sir !!!!
Sounds like a beast.
@SNOK1986 yes I really like the sound of that muffler
I have a 311. I have it listed for sale because I wanted more HP. I guess if having it ported may be a better decision. Thanks for making the video.
@88cruzer1 I'm glad I could help !!!! Thanks for commenting really appreciate it 🙏
The high jet is fat but that's good thing on a brand new chainsaw, i would lean it out when its been ran through some gas.
@@JalenRose02 Thanks for the great advice!!! Really appreciate it
@demetriogranados3879 does this saw have unlimited coil or limited?
@JalenRose02 i would have to do some research on that but I think Stihls put limiters on all the newer saws
Sounds like it’s running rich. Need to lean it out some , it’s 4 stroking a bit much in the cut IMO
@@vic2796 ill check it out with my tachometer
@@demetriogranados3879 lmk what ya find so I can see if my ears were telling the truth or not ! stock rpm is 13000 for these saws (max)
What’s the tac say?
Watch a video on adjusting the carb. An Amazon Tachometer is pretty cheap. It’s worth it if your saw is ported.

How much did this cost???
@@vic2796 Dyno joe charges 450 for the porting job. That doesn't include the price of the saw
@ oof not worth it IMO
I’d take that 450 and put it towards a stronger saw ! Thanks for the reply’
@vic2796 yeah get a pro saw if you can afford it for sure.
