Congrats dude! You overcame so many mental and physical hurdles and still always managed to smile and spread the stoke! You’re an inspiration and a beast! Thanks for sharing your journey!
Congrats man! I met you going the opposite way somewhere just east of Sargant's Mesa. It was the middle of the night and we had a short chat. You're an inspiration and a heckin' strong rider dude!
Ya brother! It was dark, and I think you were with a friend? One of you recognized my voice? Anyhoo... hope the rest of your adventure was fantastic! Thanks for watching and chiming in... just drafting off the inspiration of others like you! ride on :)
@@DirtyTeethMTBYes! That was me and another dude, although we'd just met earlier that day and parted ways again shortly after seeing you. It was me that recognized your voice, lol! Yeah, rest of the journey was great. I made it to Junction in one piece and met my goal of sub 7 days. Finished in 6D20hr. Stoked you made it and cool to meet ya!
Thanks so much!! I was kind of out of it at the finish, so sorry if I was a little spacey! and yes... the hike a bike is brutal but oh so rewarding :) Ride on!
All your videos are Great, but this is Definitely one of your best. It was very inspiring and I was smiling the whole time. The scenery was Great and I loved your brief interviews with the other riders. A Great Big Kudos!
Thanks for watching :) Yeah, the scenery is pretty top-notch and what keeps drawing me back to the that trail... definitely bucket list worthy... Ride on!
Always a good day when a new DT video arrives. That anxious “gotta start” feeling can cause all sorts of problems. Changing well conceived plans and Riding faster when lost are some of em.
Great video Alan!. I met you right after the guy in the red bunny one-se. (that might have freaked me out a bit coming around a corner!) Going south I said Georgia Pass was a low point. That was just me being from sea level and not being in shape. At the end it I would need to be without a doubt Sargent's Mesa: just unrelenting! But in its entirety, there are so many breathtaking vistas and perfect winding paths on the CT that the nasty bits fade from memory.
Hey Tom! Good to hear from ya :) I didn’t have the heart to tell ya that Georgia was just a warm up 🤣 glad you had a great adventure, and yes - all the crummy memories fade and we’re left with the good stuff!! Ride on :)
Nice one. Gotta be great to come back strong after last year’s disappointment. I had to bail on a long ride this year 10 days in. You are giving me great inspiration to go back.
Great ride and video. The desert-style landscape west of the Platte is due to a huge fire about 30 yrs ago. Used to be heavily forested. It's great to see the forest starting to come back there.
What a beautiful adventure! Thanks also for sharing the thorns not just roses (of which there certainly were plenty of!); both are reality and part of the journey. Cheers!
Thanks for watching and chiming in... yeah, the thorns are just as important and memorable as the roses, and they make the roses smell that much better!! Ride on :)
Congratulations for finishing and it looked to be the most fun way to do it. Once again you inspire us with your approach to this ride and to life! Happy Trails!
This was so good and the country beautiful. Just got the PT to allow me to put my bike on the trainer for some easy rides. So stoked to be on the bike again. Only problem now is holding the throttle back since I'm all spun up from your ride. Thank you and take care, Al
Love your videos and humor. I bought a Da Brim sun shade and it’s amazing. Highly recommend it. It’s also great when it’s raining, keeps a lot of the rain off the glasses. I’m 66 and used it on 1000 miles of GDMBR and it never came off -). I think it has also provided a cooler ride in blazing sun, less heat on the face. Not the most fashionable thing but they compliment my puffy pants perfectly 😊
@@DirtyTeethMTBI’ll check the sunbrero out … (spelling right?). Btw, after making fun of me for a year a riding buddy showed up with a DaBrim ! He got the grey one , I have black. In hindsight wish I had got the bright greenish yellow for cars to see me better.. but next time
Haha! Great question!! I'm actually working on a CTR "faq" video because of all the interesting questions I've been getting - I'll be sure to address this - thanks and ride on :)
Great video, thanks for sharing! It was such a pleasure meeting you out there on Sargents Mesa! Just curious, what is the head covering you are wearing in the footage? Looks like it provides some great sun protection,
Haha!! Great questions.... I'm actually doing a CTR "faq" video because I've gotten so many good questions and will definitely touch on these... but spoiler alert, I'm pretty slow... it's more about me not being able to hang :)
The Verse of the Day is such a beautiful tool to start your way each morning! Congrats on your accomplishment! 🎉
Thanks for watching and your kind words... and yes, no better way to begin the day!
Congrats dude! You overcame so many mental and physical hurdles and still always managed to smile and spread the stoke! You’re an inspiration and a beast! Thanks for sharing your journey!
Wow, thanks for the kind words :) I was just soaking up the stoke from everyone else!! Ride on :)

I greeted you when you finished …I rode the first segment out of Denver…the hike a bike was brutal…hats off to you!

Great video as always.
Once you could smell the barn you really put in some work! Amazing effort!
Thanks:) Once I crossed all the GD riders, and felt acclimated, I guess I decided to stop dilly dallying and get 'er done - ride on!!

Awesome job man inspirational. I want to get your hat with the side fabric you have
Thanks for watching and commenting :) It's just a cheap mesh neck drape I got from Amazon... but works great!
Awesome! Thanks for the video and info. Now that you had time to think about it, what was your roses and thorns?

Great meeting you too! It’s just a mesh neck drape I found on Amazon… nice for ear and neck protection and packs to nothing when not using… ride on!
nothing makes a person appreciate hard walls, soft beds, and hot running water like not seeing it for a lil bit,
100%
Hey what shoes do you use when their is a lot of hike a bike?
I used Fizik Terra Ergolace shoes on the CTR and AZT - ride on :)
How was the violin concert?
Fantastic, thanks for asking!
Fresh Socks
You know it!
Alan, why do you go on these rides alone?
No one can hang with you?
Perhaps that other UA-camr is free🤷🏼♂️

7:00 good bivy, can only say that when not raining. I use a free standing Eureka rising sun tent on CTR = GREAT SLEEPING. glad you made it.
