    Note: the AUTO boot folder actually loads the content by order created, not alphabetical as I mentioned, probably a pure coincidence on my ordering on my side

    First time I see this device, the possibilities are impressive, not surprising with a raspberry pi inside, but the solution is very elegant. Thanks to you and hats off to atari.sk!

    After 9 months I finally installed my COSMOS EX 3.0 and this went like a charm, all thanks to you!! So again, thank you so much for this great video, so well explained even an NOOB like me can now use a Cosmos :-) I still have a lot to learn and discover about this machine, like the wireless keyboard and mouse, the floppy emulation and so on and so on ... I have now a nice HD, I can use USB and have it linked to the wifi. Really amazing! So yes, I would be interested in more of these cosmos related videos. Thanks again!

      You're most welcome man! Glad it was a smooth experience. If you have specific questions feel free to send a PM and, if there's enough content on CosmosEX3 side features for another video I'll definitely compile something.

    This is an impressive Device and very well explained. Don't know if I will add one to my 1040STE as I like to keep my hardware original. Also great to see people still interested in the Atari ST, a computer that back in the day I wrote hundreds of reports on and played a few games.
    I remember thinking how fast the Atari was compared to an IBM 286 PC running Windows 2, I think it was.

      This just plugs into the ASCI port, like a HDD BITD. So, no modding of the Atari and is mostly a HDD replacement and Ethernet adapter, although it has other great features. There is also a new cheap ASCI-SD solution, if you just would want a HDD replacement.

    • @AnalogThinker
      @AnalogThinker  2 роки тому

      As Jerry mentionned, this can be a non-destructive addition, see it as an external HDD powered by a RPi! Simply plug on the back port using ACSI as you would plug an SH204 original HDD back then! Everything else is software config and bonus!!! I support this project big time as I truly believe this is the best versatile device out there! If you still have an Atari, and can afford to support this project, I cannot recommend it enough!

      this does much more, floppy emulator, network, usb sticks and best of all wireless mouse! if you use the atari quitte often, it's worth it for sure

    I'm using an ultrasaint adapter (similar to ultrasatan I guess) but cheaper that I got on ebay I only had to write an image to a SD card and put the SD card in and it works real simple. But I am also using STE only not any TT or Falcon so I guess that's where the CosmoEx v3 may be advantageous but I think this is a bit complicated for a mainstream Atari STE user like me.

    I have an cosmosex wich i dident used for years.. trying to config it again, but this video sadly diden't help me out! How do i use an usb stick to install hddriver?

    • @AnalogThinker
      @AnalogThinker  3 роки тому

      If you had yours for years then it is probably not the V3 I am showing in this video. For USB you should try changing the ASCI assignment. Your question is not clear enough tho, what’s the destination format? USB? SD? What are you usung the USB for? As a permanent drive or just as a transfer method?

      @@AnalogThinker Your'e right i'm using the first cosmosex version, and it was not working because i made an mistake.. after all those years i forgot to install the ce_dd driver! So the floppy emulator wasen't reconized.. i spend many hours to solve this problem.. and i figurd out i just was something silly..! Thx for responding to my question.. Version 3 of version 1 instaal is just the same.

    I bought 2 units and both are having issues. One is 99% DOA. On the other unit, the web interface works a second then dies, and it will not reconnect, and beep and reset like crazy. For anyone having the same issue with the web interface, I was able to SSH to the 2nd unit and was able to run the config script to select SD card for ID 0, after this I was able to access the unit thru the web interface.

    • @fleef3790
      @fleef3790 3 роки тому

      In trying to revive my DOA unit I found that the device doesn't contain the ce_force_flash.sh. I downloaded it from github but I was not able to run it (not authorized to execute it) even with the root login. The Linux installation was corrupted and could not be repaired. Since I bought 2 units, I cloned the RPi SD card from the 2nd unit and was able to boot the first unit. Now I have two units that boot up but neither is recognized by my MSTE. Oh well...(QC=0, unit testing = 0). Back to more troubleshooting

    • @AnalogThinker
      @AnalogThinker  3 роки тому

      Yeah I can relate. I think an SD card image backup us essential, that’s the first thing I did. I had a unit that kept rebooting and it turned out to be insufficient power. On the MSTE I also had troubles to make it recognized. I had to remove the internal drive and ACSI to SCSI adapter card as it would conflict with the back ACSI port (I could see the content of both C drives mixed up, a big soup of corrupted files haha). I have yet to find a way to get both the CosmosEX AND internal drive to work together. The MSTE is the only machine still giving me troubles, let’s share our findings!

    Does anyone still sell CosmosEx v3 in 2021/2?

    • @AnalogThinker

      Atari.sk is still the main source. However it seems the "World Virus" not to cite it, has thrown a major wrench in their schedule. I still saw a waiting list so you can try reaching out to them!

    Why not just get ultrasatan, much easier

    • @AnalogThinker
      @AnalogThinker  3 роки тому +4

      For all the extra features! FDD and HDD emulation, screencast, STing, keyboard/mouse injector, SMB shared drive and more. Of course the ultrasatan is another good device from jookie for those who want a simple storage device but CosmosEx is an amazing evolution!

    Using a device with way more computational power to act as a part of floppy drive emulator an old computer 🤔
