New subscriber here I followed lots of people building their homes. I am curious where you are building. I will build on the island of Samar near Dolores. Your block work looks wonderful compared to some of the other. I see I know it is skimed and filled. Please keep me posted on what it is costing for your labor. I’ve already priced out some of the material while I was there a month ago having trouble securing the piece of land that we want some people just don’t want to sell, but it is connected to an existing piece that we already have.
Thanks for watching and subbing, the carpenters here get 600 pesos a day and the laborers get 400 pesos a day. We also provide a snack in the morning and a lunch, usually rice or fish
Great vid, very informative. Out of interest, did you consider having a cavity space for the exterior walls by having an internal and external wall? I know this would cost more, but would help keep the place cooler.
Hello, house looking good. If i may ask afew question on the materials you use ? What iron you use for beams and columns? Mixture of the cement is 1- 2-3 or different? Holow blocks you bought them ready or you making them?? Thanks and see you later .... I definately want cost prices of cement iron sand gravels... Cause im probably going to build too .... Near ipil area ...thanks
The beams and columns are 10 and 12 milimeter rebar in concrete, the cement is 1 part sand, 1 part gravel, and 1 part cement from what Ive seen, I could be off on the mix, We buy the Hallo block from the local hardware. At some point I will be giving a cost break down.
Everett i fond you channel nice topics. I am Jack from the netherlands me and my wife going to build soon in the PH. How did the proces goes for your buildingpermit?? Regards Jack
Where in Mindanao? I'm planning on starting ours next month in Zamboanga del Sur and I'm a little confused about the concrete pillars? I think that is for earthquake movement?
@Expat225 yes. I was reading more about it. The 4 inch blocks aren't considered weight bearing. So they use the pillars. I would have to use a high pressure 6 inch to put the weight of the roof on. I am also considering steel construction.
We did have to hire an engineer to draw up some plans, to get a permit, The engineers cost 13000 peso, about 260 usd I'll be doing a video later with a breake down of all the costs but the permits ran right around 11000 pesos or 220 usd
None that I'm aware of. There was an expate who died recently building houses and selling them. here is a link to his UA-cam: JUELLS IN THE PHILIPPINES www.youtube.com/@screamdreamer
Hello, my friend, may I ask which part of Mindanao are you guys from?,,,we are from Davao city, actually Davao Del Sur,,, northern part of Davao about an hr north of Davao city, a small town called Calinan, in a province north of that small city called Tamugan,,,
4 months, man, that's long time, for 3 bedroom, we built the same way in Central America, but it take less time, for a house of 100 square meters to completely build from the ground up to the roof, regards from Boston MA!!
Too much money and not enough sense . Why do Americans spend shit loads of cash on house building then piss off back home before the plaster has dried .
Good for you and your lovely wife, but the PI is a dump and their using block and not brick is garbage. You’re also throwing up a one story very simple build. You wanna see a home build done right, then check out mine here in Vietnam. You’ll see the difference and it’s significant.
Nice looking house so far.
Thank you, looking better each day, I'll be so glad when it's done.
Doing good work. Better than normal filipino block laying. Ive seen some horrible laying.
The guy doing ours has a good reputation, We searched him out and got lucky, he had just finised building a house when we hired him
The house is coming along nicely ... we'll all look forward for the next update
Thanks for watching

My girlfriend is from labason It is lovely there
Yes, we go to several beaches there
Are there any regulations that would prevent an expat (with background in construction) from building his own house?
