As someone who will be part of the rehab side of things, a lot of people do not know what we do and I think many would find it informative and fun coming from you :) There’s OT, PT, SLP and many others too doing incredibly important work that people have no idea exist in the medical setting! Keep it up!
Absolutey briliiant idea. My sister suffered a brain injury and is currently in a rehabilitation program, and I had no idea there were so many different types of therapists involved. Most people are only aware of the medical side of recovery, so it would be interesting to learn about the next (and much longer) step.
@@sarab2324 thank you! And yes, I’ve heard that many SLPs get the “I can speak just fine” but we do a lot more than “fixing” speech. We work with cognition, swallowing, motor speech, fluency, hearing, AAC, voice disorders, pragmatics, etc. In the medical setting, a lot of what we do is working with people with Dysphagia (swallowing disorders) and aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, etc. I hope Dr. Mike is able to do a series about rehab side of things and shed some light 🤓❤️

I was mentally in a bad place last year, when I came across your video with Dr. Espina about him going to medical school at 37, and that really spoke to me. I realized then that being 39 wasn't too late for me to change, and I had wanted to go into the medical field when I was younger, so I gathered my courage and went for it. I found a paid apprenticeship through my local hospital system, and just recently became a licensed CNA/PCA, with opportunities for further education as my work experience grows! 😊 I never would have found the courage to do that if not for you, and I'm deeply grateful for that. I actually plan on sending a physical thank you card to the P.O. box you have listed, but I thought it'd be fitting to thank you here, too. i think this dude is a huge reason of why i'm going into medicine. he gave a basic understanding of medicine and sparked my curiosity which ended up leading to me going into EMS. i should have my NREMT when i'm out of high school and i blame this guy :)

The difference between Mike and a lot of other channels is that he focuses on getting a lot of views to spread awareness whereas a lot of youtubers focus on getting a lot of views because they want attention. Wow, you sound really busy!that’s a lot going on on top of being a Dr I’ve learnt a lot from your videos, I spend a lot of time in the hospital and see about a dozen drs (mostly specialists). They’ve saved my life countless times. I’ve been lucky to have great healthcare where I live, it’s horrible not everyone has that opportunity Ive thought of becoming a patient advocate since I’ve learnt to advocate for myself over the years and when some family has been sick I’ve advocated for them as well I appreciate all the time you put in to help people learn things they can do and speak out against medical misinformation

I think i found your channel when you reacted to that Cells At Work anime because medical reactions to that anime was trending for a while when the japanese animation was released. I went on to watch all your other reaction videos and I feel that Dr. Mike you are very honest in whether you know or not know about whatever you've just seen, like you don't assume A is A just because it looks like A, it could be B, so you list out the possibilities and acknowlege you could be wrong, and that impressed on me a lot, because a lot of UA-camrs like to assume things right off the bat. Another thing that stuck was that you don't provide sure-fire explanations for symptoms like "oh u have a cold, you must be having this or that", there was sure several explanations for a few symptoms that happen altogether but you emphasize a loooot of times that we need to see a doctor instead of self analyzing and googling answers and self-prescribing medicine, and get a learned opinion, press more questions on the doctor if they are being irresponsible in their care, spot red flags, or find a better doctor. You make me treat symptoms more seriously in life 😆Thank you for all the content and debunking you did ! Really love watching it, and still looking forward to more! With love from Singapore 😘

Me being Australian, you are one of extremely few Drs that actually made me go and get alot more tests that i was supposed to have yrs before but i didnt believe in drs due to bad care that i received at one point. Ive thought of becoming a patient advocate since I’ve learnt to advocate for myself over the years and when some family has been sick I’ve advocated for them as well
I appreciate all the time you put in to help people learn things they can do and speak out against medical misinformation
As a medical student, seeing you balance all these things that you are passionate about gives me hope for when I graduate and get more free time. Also seeing how you love for medicine doesn't diminishes is awesome! I hope one day I get to help as many people as possible!

I’m a professional swim lesson instructor and I love your videos! I tell my students about what to do in a pool accident or water emergency. I have to renew my CPR/First aid every two years and I do great on the tests. I’m 20 and I started teaching when I was 15. Every summer is crazy fun and I never get enough money to make it through then school year without going into debt. I have to hibernate like a grizzly bear 😅

I was here from day one and now that he got 10 million subs just brings tears to my eyes and really inspires me to pursue my dreams.
I think i found your channel when you reacted to that Cells At Work anime because medical reactions to that anime was trending for a while when the japanese animation was released. I went on to watch all your other reaction videos and I feel that Dr. Mike you are very honest in whether you know or not know about whatever you've just seen, like you don't assume A is A just because it looks like A, it could be B, so you list out the possibilities and acknowlege you could be wrong, and that impressed on me a lot, because a lot of UA-camrs like to assume things right off the bat.
Another thing that stuck was that you don't provide sure-fire explanations for symptoms like "oh u have a cold, you must be having this or that", there was sure several explanations for a few symptoms that happen altogether but you emphasize a loooot of times that we need to see a doctor instead of self analyzing and googling answers and self-prescribing medicine, and get a learned opinion, press more questions on the doctor if they are being irresponsible in their care, spot red flags, or find a better doctor. You make me treat symptoms more seriously in life 😆Thank you for all the content and debunking you did ! Really love watching it, and still looking forward to more!
