  • Man! I love chasing roosters in a fresh snow. Best time of the year to chase pheasants.
What an incredible weekend. We limited out for 3 straight days. Some great dog work and shooting. Boss #5s put the birds on the ground. No lost birds!

Wow! Great Hunt, this video is becoming one of my favorite upland hunting video's. Looked like one of those "magical" days in the field. Your success with the 28 GA has me looking at my 20 GA and thinking that I'm not as under gunned as I thought in the late season. Fun Fun.

@@Thewesternwingshooterpodcast went in October and we saw more grouse than pheasant which didn’t bother me at all, grouse are tasty. They spook so easily though and flush well out of range. Managed to bag a few though, they liked to stay in a corn field on some hay bales. We ended up army crawling behind a fence line and popped up near enough to get a shot.

I would like to know 2 things. But are all the pheasants male ? Female pheasants do not " exist " ?! However you have hundreds of them ! Here in our country not even 50 years ago there were as many pheasants as there by you ! Now when you go hunting if you really like the day , maybe you can shoot 2 or 3 pheasants . However I so many pheasants leave from a small grove like there , here I have never seen them even in reserves or restocking areas. Then I wanted to ask you what kind of dogs are you using for that hunt.

There are way more hens than roosters the video clips happen to show more roosters because that’s the ones I’m shooting at. In my new video there are some great videos of hens over my puppy last week. And I have 3 English setters and a German short hair

Late season in the northern Great Plains, it’s not uncommon for pheasants to bunch up under cover provided by brush like you see here.

@@Thewesternwingshooterpodcast The dog you are using in this video is a German shorthair you said , ok, but what kind of breed is it?

Man You are a heck of a shot - if I shot half that well I’d be happy. But man breathing hard - maybe less booze and buds and more cardio 😅

In Italy if you hunt with snow-covered ground, first you get a colossal fine, then you get your hunting license taken away and sometimes even your weapon !

Here our season goes until January. Over half our season will be in the snow

Interesting. What is the reason? What is the game commission trying to prevent? I suppose the snow, being that it shows tracks, can perhaps be seen to give an unfair advantage to the hunter. Many species of birds and big game can be hunted legally in the snow here in America.

@@libertyvilleguy2903 Yes, you nailed the reason! It is precisely because it 's an advantage for hunters since with the ground covered by snow the footprints emerge very easily.

New York used to have good pheasant hunting, but no more. Farmlands and brush have all gone to suburbia.
