This guys obviously doesn't know what he is doing. Feeding feeder goldfish is one of the worst things you can do to these marine animals. Goldfish feeders often harbor parasites and diseases, not only that but nutritionally speaking they are a terrible source of food for any large fish. The other thing that jumps out is he has 3 large predatory animals inside a 55 gallon tank when you easily need at least a 150 for all these animals......
maybe he just did it for the video. there is some enzyme or sometihng cant quite remember in these fish that isnt good for them. but they also say ice cream isnt good for dogs well my dog fucking loves an ice cream on sunday.

Shame the lionfish and the other fish look very stressed cuz of the dominance of the eel. Don't care for lionfish in the wild but in a tank you have a responsibility of care.

That must be your hospital tank, eh? NO educated marine enthusiasts would ever keep such a large fish in such a small tank. That eel should be in a minimum of a 120gal preferably a 200+. Everyday that thing gets bigger and bigger yet his world around him gets smaller and smaller. Shame Shame!

+Tareck Fahmi you know not everyone has to pride by the tank laws. Fish will only grow based on the size tank they are out in. The only reason some get so large in the ocean is because they have trillions of gallons and thousands of miles to swim in. In many homes, it is impossible to keep tanks more than 150-200 gallons. People do what they can to try and enjoy things in the short life they are given. And like I said before. If a fish/eel is in a 55 gallon, it's growth will be more restricted to the size tank it's in. It may not grow more than 2-3 feet. If it was in a 180 gallon tank it might grow to 4-5 feet at most. But for this species, a tank specimen has not been recorded over 5 feet because too many people cannot afford nor accommodate such tanks. Let people do as they wish and they will learn from their mistakes. They are adults and can make their own choices wether they are right or wrong
+Joe Mignella Yes fish will only grow based on the size of tank and will die a premature death because of it. Am sure that eel will die long before that do to escape or poor water quality and or diet which will be a shame. As a pet owner of any kind you should know the proper care of the animal diet and living conditions.

They are not as fragile as salt water fish, there it's almost impossible to change the parameters of the entire ocean, while the lake is constantly changing, making their fish more resistant to change. Salt water fish will die after 10 minutes in fresh water, while fresh water can live for a day in salt water.
I have one too, but hes about 8 inches in a 130 gallon tank. I know in a few years he'll need a 300 gallon tank. Always a good excuse to go bigger!
Before all the name calling and anger it is best to know if that is ALL he feeds these animals. Clearly this is meant to be a feeding/hunting video and watching an eel eat frozen silversides and squid chunks gets less attention. Every fish expert I have talked to says it is ok to feed groupers, eels and lion fish a feeder goldfish on occasion but not all the time. Hopefully what we are watching is not an everyday thing

Freshwater fish make a lousy food for marine predators; the single most common cause of death among marine fishes is "fatty liver disease." Although not really a disease, fatty liver is a serious condition in which the liver becomes enlarged, often to the point that it interferes with, or even crushes, the other internal organs and is apparently the cause of death. This condition seems most commonly to be the result of poor diet, and the consensus of several well-known fish pathologists is that the single most common cause of fatty liver disease is a diet high in saturated fats, although biotin and/or choline deficiencies, toxemia and "unknown nonspecific causes" are also possible factors.
Fatty liver disorder in a variety of marine fishes (most commonly groupers and lionfishes) from pet shops and hobbyists are common because they fed these predators on a diet of primarily live goldfish. Aside from the fatty liver "disease," fatty acid malnutrition in fishes have been shown to result in reduced growth, lower percentages of muscle tissue, liver degeneration, higher susceptibility to bacterial and viral infection, and a decrease of hemoglobin in the blood cells among other nutritional problems. All of these things suggest there is a very real, and potentially fatal, consequence to feeding your lionfish only freshwater feeder fish (such as goldfish or guppies).
The best advice I can offer is probably to avoid feeding freshwater feeders to marine fish and vice versa because of the different nutritional profiles of the prey items. I think that the key to maintaining healthy fish and/or inverts long-term in aquaria has more to do with a properly varied diet than any specific nutritional component or additive. Given the limited data on the nutritional profiles of freshwater and marine prey items that I could find, there seems to be good evidence that feeding a lot of freshwater fish to a marine predator will result in a diet unnaturally high in fats.

I've always been curious about predator tanks, but there are just too many of the peaceful fish that I like to go that route. I have a 90 gallon and have vids of it and other tanks on my channel.
do a smaller predator larger peaceful. like a snowflake eel and do some tangs or something. also if preds mainly eat crustations you know better for the fish
Ok.. you have a tesselata eel, a lion fish, and a panther grouper in that small of a 55g tank!!!!! To have them all in a tank you need at least 100g or more. Plus all those fish need at least a tank of 500g or more to be house.

Well lets see here a lionfish can be kept in a 55 though a 75 is more suitable, the grouper should be kept in a 75 to a one hundered and same for the eel. None of them "need" a 500 gallon.

Yun Sun I would say a 180 to fit all of them. Panther groupers aren’t active fish, and so even an adult would do fine in a 180, same with the volitan.

Yea becareful, some people just end up making a EEL tank and not add any fish. The EEl could end up eating your lion fish.

Those eels don’t have good eyesight but it saw the orange color. And then lost the goldfish. The perching lionfish then snapped up the goldfish because it has sharper Senses
