I get where you’re coming from, but if you were a software developer 20 years ago looking to raise money to build an app/service, did any of the musical artist pitch in to start it? Or do they just stick their hand out to get paid? Would Spotify exist if there weren’t investors in the beginning to fund its inception? So how much would artists make from Spotify if it didn’t exist? Goose egg. So now what’s the argument?

Thinking that 'developers' are the one winning here is a misnomer. The 'developers' in these cases are really sham entrepreneurs who are propped up by boards filled with investors who only care about money.

@@pianoman173 wym? he didnt have an argument in the first place? he was just expressing his opinion that the model we have is kinda sad. that doesn’t mean you have to agree. not everything is a debate, go outside for once and stop trying to start pointless arguments in youtube comments. you’re completely wasting your time and you know it.

This is the Streaming End Game. It was inevitable that once they snuffed out hard media, CDs, BluRays, etc from our consciousness and shortly thereafter, from our stores (Best Buy no longer sells any music or movies in any form!) thus correcting The Great Business Mistake they made decades earlier… that they would tighten down all the screws once they had ultimate control again.
Moguls Giveth…. My teen daughter is just realizing why dad has this huge collection of music and movies as she sees her favorites suddenly disappear from streaming services.
    My advice is this:
Continue to buy up all the CDs and BluRays of your favorite content that you can… while you still can.
They can’t take that away from you.

Simply do NOT choose to update the firmware of your CD, DVD or Bluray media player. In fact there is really no reason to have the device connected to the internet at all.

Stakeholders don’t exist unless you go public. Always remember that. These companies have gotten too big for their own good. Meanwhile, from the get-go they’ve never shown nor had a sufficiently secure platform which in turn would and should grant their investing shareholders a secure and solid return. It was a gamble from the beginning for all whom were in on it.

Does anyone else remember Prince writing “Slave” on the side of his face & negotiating with Warner Bros to get control of his master recordings?? When he succeeded, he released the album “Emancipation”. He was the very 1st musical artist to offer his music through internet purchase. Truly, folks, I’m the same age as Prince…it’s only been ~29 yrs ago since he did this. Not just a talented musician, songwriter, bandleader, & live performer…but also a genius entrepreneur. No musical artist had done this before he did.

It's so sad that media expects to make billions of dollars with CEOs expecting to live in palaces. The greed is palpable. Everyone is getting rid of cable due to the expense and it's not worth the money. So streaming is going to price themselves out of the market also. People's incomes are stretched so thin they need to cut costs every where they can.

They are too big to pay attention to everything and that allows badactors to infiltrate and adultrate. Best music, best amps and the best guitars are made by small groups of dedicated individuals!
