The new art style is one thing, but they should have made the animations better! Keeping the original animation frames and slapping HD graphics on there just makes it look cheap to me.
It was done that way because introducing intermediate frames wouldve dramatically changed the way the game plays and they wanted to make it as close to SSF2 as possible.

The game engine is the same, if you prefer shittier graphics, no problem. This version is the same game with better overall presentation. I prefer the latter.

The developers made something strong with the difficulty settings. Easy= expert While Expert is not that hard. Choose "expert" and the game will be easier. Be sure tô choose the "remix" difficulty too.
When you look at it now, all the HD crispiness does to the game is show how barebones SF2's animation was. It didn't utilise a lot of smear frames, and a result looks more like someone turned up the frame skipping when compared to modern games.

I really didn't like how it was implemented since it didn't fit with how the voices are. Sure, the CPS2 version wasn't very great, but I didn't really mind it. It was the new challengers era, so I can understand the reworking of certain stuff. I'm not saying CPS1 voices are horrible, I'm just saying it feels out of place.

I prefer the pixel-art graphics. I find these hd "enhanced" graphics artificial and disgusting for some reason, they look like paper cut figures

I think they did something in the spirit of the original and they kept the orange tint. But yeah it's not as good.
Just noticed that the HD Remix has no Point System.
It was worked off of the Dreamcast port where they "pre-tweaked" various settings for the Remix mode

HD Remix hard as withstood the test of time. So happy to see its appeal has lasted 11 years !
