I was disappointed too, but it was more due to my spiritual immaturity that I hadn't decided in advance to be happy with whatever call came. I wanted to go to Italy, but when the Bishop asked if I had a place where I wanted to go I didn't name one because I felt I should be willing to go where ever I was called to go. As it turned out my call was to Brazil and when we had all met in the Mission training center in SLC they announced that the first 4 missionaries to Italy were in our group. They stood up to be recognized and I wondered if that could have been me. I loved Brazil and wouldn't trade that experience for anything. My first companion in Brazil had taken 4 yrs of German in HS and had been called to Brazil. We just go and do the best we can and are given a great love for that land and people.
He is such a humble man. What an inspiration to me, to search the scriptures and receive revelation from the Lord. 🦋 Just today, Doctrine and Covenants 123: 6-8. We (I) will have no excuse for disobedience.
"I was down, and I was disappointed, and I said, 'I'd better get a better attitude about this.'"
Yep, that's how you do it.
P.S. My mission was the old Salt Lake City North. I mostly served in Ogden. Where all of my extended family lived. My grandma tried to talk me into "calling Salt Lake" and "telling them they got it wrong", but I knew it was right.
I love your grandma's reaction! That's funny. Glad you knew it was the right place for you.
God knows all things and he knows his children and where he needs us to be. It's so important to hear him so we can be sure of this. My daughter felt the same way, but we knew that where she went was where she needed to be. God is so good! I have such love and gratitude for a loving Father in Heaven and a loving Savior, Jesus Christ.
Thank you for raising children who want to serve the Lord!

D&C 122:7-9 When Joseph was in rough shape in Liberty jail, and sorrowing for his people as well, the Lord gave him DETAILED comfort. This scripture helped me a LOT through VERY hard life things🕊🤍🕊

Thank you for the beautiful message, I have never served a mission because I join the church when I was 26. I want to serve a mission when I turn senior 65, but I don’t know if I would accomplish that because I don’t have one final ordinance in the temple to qualify for the mission, which I will not get in to that discussion because it’s pending...

My biological grandfather on my mom's side(we call him Papa Tim) also wanted to serve a mission in Germany, but he got called to Florida instead.
I can't imagine wanting to serve in Germany. :) I feel like it's cold there.
